I may be a "boomer" but I got to see bands like this - in their prime. Savatage, Saxon, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Van Halen, Queensryche, Accept, Rush, KISS,
@@soulbrother5435 half these bands today are playing to backing tracks i bet. it took me massive years of physical an musical training to do some of the stuff they do an they look out of shape 4 real 🤭
Yeah I don't know why the dislike, obviously they don't know anything about music composition theory technique, along with Kings X the most underrated bands ever, who knows what Chris had done had he not been hit by a drunk driver? Sad, very sad😥😥😥😥
Both Jon Olivia's vocals and keyboards and Criss's guitar playing create a perfect feeling. we see one of the most emotional bands you have ever seen, with the emotionality in the lyrics and the Sound that is completely compatible with it. I've never seen such an underrated band in my life.
He loved the guitar dearly. People that knew him as a teen said he slept with his guitar and that he didn't party a lot because he'd be in his room playing his guitar.
I've been to MANY shows over the years, and seeing Criss and the band live, twice in the summer of 1990, on this tour, is still the most mesmerizing live experience I have had.
I also thought that after hearing Hall of the Mountain King for the first time. But then after going through whole discography it's pretty much just whole albums Hall of the Mountain King and Gutter Ballet and from Streets: A Rock Opera mainly just Jesus Saves and Tonight He Grins Again. Maybe some songs from first 2 albums. But everything else is forgettable. So I think they are rated just fine, 169th on Metal Storm.
Criss. Ohhh Criss. Was a master of heavy metal emotion, on guitar and in person. The crap of today... well... at least it makes us remember the heroes of the past in all of us.
One of the very few bands that I have seen live that can sound just as good if not sometimes better than the album. I’ve always loved Jon’s very unique vocals. And Criss was one of my absolute favorite guitar gods. Such a huge influence!
The great thing thet tells about Jon 's heart and soul is that another John Midnight from Crimson Glory asked him to record together one of his songs Painted skies and that gives the chills.
Great video...thanks for posting! Quick note: They actually play 'Temptation Revelation' before they launch into 'When the Crowds Are Gone.' Small detail, but one worth noting.
Thank you for this video! This says 1989 but the album was released in 1991 and I saw them which was said to be the last show of streets and this lineup in Tampa Florida at the Rocket club. somewhere around 1992 Florida’s greatest metal band!
I was docs tech for a good portion of this tour before I moved on to other acts. Great band , best crew amazing times. Criss was a great guy and his talent was never fully able to be shown to the world. He gave me the broken headstock from the gutter ballet video we shot in Rockford Illinois . Rest in peace criffy….
"When The Crowds Are Gone" I don't know where the years have gone Memories can only last so long Like faded photographs, forgotten songs And the things I never knew When the skin is thin, the heart shows through Please believe me what I tell you is true Where's the light, turn then on again One more night to believe and then Another note for my requiem A memory to carry on The story's over when the crowds are gone All my friends have been crucified They made life a long suicide true Guess we never figured out the rules But I'm still alive and my fingers feel I'm gonna play on till the final reel's through And read the credits from a different view Where's the lights, turn them on again One more night to believe and then Another note for my requiem A memory to carry on The story's over when the crowds are gone When the crowds are gone And I'm all alone Playing a final song Now that the lights are gone Turn them on again One more time for me my friend Turn them on again I never wanted to know Never wanted to see I wasted my time till time wasted me Never wanted to go Always wanted to stay Cause the person I am are the parts that I play So I play and I plan And hope and I scheme To the lure of a night Filled with unfinished dreams And I'm holding on tight To a world gone astray As they charge me for years I can no longer pay And the lights Turn them off my friend And the ghosts Well just let them in Cause in the dark It's easier to see
One of the greatest bands of all time.. "I wasted my time till time wasted me" best lyrics ever written! 53 yo metal head \m/
I may be a "boomer" but I got to see bands like this - in their prime. Savatage, Saxon, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Van Halen, Queensryche, Accept, Rush, KISS,
Boomers should be very proud of the spectacular music scene in the 70's and 80's.
I am zoomer born in 1999 and I think boomer music is superior in every way
ok boomer 😜

It's a shit that they were not recognized as they should

Yeah I don't know why the dislike, obviously they don't know anything about music composition theory technique, along with Kings X the most underrated bands ever, who knows what Chris had done had he not been hit by a drunk driver? Sad, very sad😥😥😥😥
i am 40 now. so thankful my dad introduced me to this band when i was a kid.
One of the most underrated metal guitarist of all time. Taken too soon.
Almost got it right Criss was the Most Underrated Guitarist of all time!
Him and Randy Rhoades are making a good pair in other dimension
Truly unique player Criss was. Can hear him from the first few notes played
Both Jon Olivia's vocals and keyboards and Criss's guitar playing create a perfect feeling. we see one of the most emotional bands you have ever seen, with the emotionality in the lyrics and the Sound that is completely compatible with it. I've never seen such an underrated band in my life.
The most underrated metal fucking guitarist ever. The guy was Phenomenal!!!👍🤘 Olivia.
Criss had so much emotion in his playing. The talent he had still amazes me 20 years later. I get sad thinking he’s gone. RIP
He loved the guitar dearly. People that knew him as a teen said he slept with his guitar and that he didn't party a lot because he'd be in his room playing his guitar.

Rip Criss great guitarist!!
Incredibly and criminally underrated band.

Me and you both brother.... the day I received the news was the darkest day of my life..
so much talent. criminally underrated. will listen to them till i die
Underappreciated. They are musicians, not sportsmen.
So will I.
They are one of the best bands ever!
Rest In Peace Criss Oliva🎸💔
Criss putting on a master class in guitar playing and soloing.
I still love Savatage. Timeless
Waow está canción esta hermosísima cada vez que la escucho me hace llorar estoy llorando XD 😭❤️👍🙏😍
Una de las bandas más infravaloradas del heavy metal, pero con grandes obras maestras en su repertorio.
Savatage, forever and always in my heart
By the Gods, Criss.....such magic was just posible with Oliva´s bros alive! :_(
What a song, this is an insanely good sound. I can't imagine how good they would've sounded live back then.
Absolutely stunning. ❤️🙏
Thanx from Japan.
When the crowds are gone.
R.I.P. Criss, the best guitarist.
A real gem here. What should of been.

Già .. hai perfettamente ragione!!
Grandi , grandissimi,melodia e potenza
In my opinion, this is their best song. Emotion, power, dynamics and melody
Criss. Ohhh Criss. Was a master of heavy metal emotion, on guitar and in person. The crap of today... well... at least it makes us remember the heroes of the past in all of us.
Solo: Nailed.
RenkGuitars thats criss man.. god he was fuckin GOOD!!!!!! RIP TO A LEGEND
All these videos are shitty bootlegs and he still sounds incredible and nails every solo.
Fucking nailed it
Beautiful Voice
They are soooo good live! Just incredible proffissional band! Chris is just fantastic!
I was fortunate enough to see Savatage twice with Chris. On stage he made it look effortless. Such a loss....
Never heard a more underrated band ever, Criss So...good Jon harshly underrated ,as good as Dio , IMHO. good ole St. Pete day's lost but not forgotten

Oct 17 th my birthday. But also the day we lost a great brother R.I.P. CRISS OLIVA. my son is named after criss may his music live forever
When I think Savatage, I always think 'talent', 'eternal', 'beauty', amazing guitar & piano, and the haunting voice of Jon
Oh my god, what a hidden gem this is. This is a year before I graduated in 84. I did not know about them until 90, but so amazing
This song truly tells a story.

"When The Crowds Are Gone"
I don't know where the years have gone
Memories can only last so long
Like faded photographs, forgotten songs
And the things I never knew
When the skin is thin, the heart shows through
Please believe me what I tell you is true
Where's the light, turn then on again
One more night to believe and then
Another note for my requiem
A memory to carry on
The story's over when the crowds are gone
All my friends have been crucified
They made life a long suicide true
Guess we never figured out the rules
But I'm still alive and my fingers feel
I'm gonna play on till the final reel's through
And read the credits from a different view
Where's the lights, turn them on again
One more night to believe and then
Another note for my requiem
A memory to carry on
The story's over when the crowds are gone
When the crowds are gone
And I'm all alone
Playing a final song
Now that the lights are gone
Turn them on again
One more time for me my friend
Turn them on again
I never wanted to know
Never wanted to see
I wasted my time till time wasted me
Never wanted to go
Always wanted to stay
Cause the person I am are the parts that I play
So I play and I plan
And hope and I scheme
To the lure of a night
Filled with unfinished dreams
And I'm holding on tight
To a world gone astray
As they charge me for years
I can no longer pay
And the lights
Turn them off my friend
And the ghosts
Well just let them in
Cause in the dark
It's easier to see
Thanks for posting this... R.I.P. Criss Oliva!
questo è uno dei pezzi che io adoro!!
Condivido, assieme a Believe sono le mie canzoni preferite
Grazie per averla pubblicata

Criss is still the only major rock guitar player I have ever seen use a stainless steel pick.
He is legend!
Amazing video!!thanks for share! DEP Criss
magic
My uncle filmed this
grande Criss Oliva....
incredibile criss oliva
There’s parts in them here and there that remind me of Pink Floyd. Aside from Criss playing, his tone was incredible also.
in particolare consiglio l'album "streets: a rock opera"...concept fantastico!
4:20 🔥🔥🔥
Criss Oliva leggendario!
