One of the most beautful power ballads ever. I hope Savatage remains Savatage and not a lonley Jhon Oliva. Ofcourse in the memory of Chris. Whom we love and miss dearly. We love you guys. Please keep making music for all the dreamers, loners, burners, outcasts, depressives and people who love music in general. Thank you SAVATAGE ❤
Jon Oliva, Criss Oliva and Paul O'Neill: the best songwriting team in history! The world needs more Savatage! #Savatage #SavatageForever #JonOliva #CrissOliva #PaulONeill
savatage has to be the most underrated metal band of the '80s into the early '90s. i knew the moment i heard jon's piano playing and singing, that unmistakable sound of savatage so well founded on brother criss' guitar work, and that astounding lyrical content, that this band MADE you sit up and pay attention. one only has to listen to trans siberian orchestra to hear the continuance of this colossal presence.
I have so much respect for Chris Caffery, and I think he is awesome. But, man.... I SO wish Criss Oliva was still around. He was truly a gifted musician. One of the rare players that could write a complete song. Nasty riffs, and superb solos with soul and feeling that were always a perfect fit. He deserves to be mentionsed along with greats such as Randy Rhoads, Van Halen, Dimebag, Zakk Wylde, Brian May, and David Gilmore.
Caffery is a seriously versatile player. He is willing to play what ever you need him to play, just a natural talent. Criss Oliva requires no introduction, he was a legend
I'm turning 50 in a couple years and I can relate to the lyrics "I dont know where the years have gone memories can only last so long...", and I got seriously into Savatage when a friend of mine was about to throw away the tape which contained this song, I wish so much I could go back to those days and make things right around 1990
Adam Wagner He ruined his voice for a while, & had to stop singing for a year! Then, he had to take voice lessons to learn to sing properly. He does sing on many tracks of the TSO albums, but has formed another band, Jon Oliva's Pain.
yeah i'm aware... I think Savatage should have split after Jon left and reformed when he was ready to come back. Good to see another Jon fan though... rock on brother
Adam Wagner Lol! Yes, Jon is the backbone of Savatage, TSO, & JOP. He has a great range, from that throaty growl to those high, crystal notes. He said Savatage will always exist in TSO, but I wish he'd get out on the stage & do at least a few numbers with them!
Savatage - one of the greatest yet most underappreciated (mainstream) metal bands of all time. Though they morphed into TSO and had great success, nothing would be getting a chance to see a full set of Savatage one more time.
It heavily bothers me that I wasn't even born when Criss was taken. He is my guitar god without a doubt and I base my style on his playing, all from Sirens all the way to Edge Of Thorns. R.I.P Criss.
When he died there was no internet. So although I was already a fan (at the age of 10, thanks to older brothers) I had no idea what transpired. When I finally inherited all their albums (my brothers moved to other music) I played them incessantly. I understand you though and am happy that people born later on can appreciate them equally. It speaks volumes about the quality of their music.
I'm a huge fan of Savatage and heavily influenced by Criss' playing as well. I was in my early twenties when he died and it was like a punch to my gut when I found out.
that was the shirt that was available at the Criss Oliva 10 yr tribute show in Tampa in 2003. I was there, and am lucky to own one of them. I wear it with pride!
Osama Abdel Latif This chorus is also in the song "Believe", done by Savatage & then Trans Siberian Orchestra (The band that Savatage eventually became, after "Christmas Eve, Sarajevo", from "Dead Winter, Dead" became a super hit)
It saddens me to see it without criss oliva. But he lives on through the music. This song without a doubt is a heart wrencher. So beautifully and skillfully written like so many songs that Savatage had written. When Jon Oliva performs these it makes me wonder what he feels emotionally not seeing his brother there like he once did.
How can a band like this finish their fabulous trip. This band was probably the best one in the world. Love you guys. Please return, and come to Romania. I want my children to see tou in concert
I saw these guys play twice live in there hay day. Man just mind blowing talent. I was fortunate to see the original cast with Chris and company. including the beast "Doc" on drums!! Wow he gave me chills live. If you guys ever saw the original line up you know what I mean. I was shocked when I heard about Chris. Savatage music was always very original. It had almost a Beatles - Metal - Phantom of the opera feel to it. Just super cool. Never heard anything like it to this day. Love you guys always if you are out there!! ROCK ON !!!!
I missed WAY too much. I wish it would have been written in bold black print on my very first TSO cd.. 5 years Ago. Still would have loved to see Criss while he was still alive of course. The world will never know what could have been......miss you Criss
I am embarrassed to admit that this is the only song that I ever really listened to from this band. Caught it on Head Bangers Ball back in the day. And now keep coming back to it from time to time on UA-cam. Such an amazing composition.
this is 2002,almost 9 years after Criss passed away. the guitarist here is Christopher Caffery, who actually was the original second guitarist of the band when this song came out back in 1989.
The lead singer is Jon Oliva, and he's the lead singer, keyboardist for T.S.O., founder of Savatage (with his brother Criss Oliva R.i.P), Doctor Butcher (with Chris Caffery), and T.S.O with Paul O'Neill, and Robert Kinkel.
Thanks for the upload!! I was at this show and it was amazing, they dedicated Believe to one of our friends that night with her parents in the audience..very moving memory
One of the world´s best hardrock / rock opera band! So sad they´re no more! They´ve been superior! Thank god the Mountain King is still alive and rockin´! ;-)
This is absolute beauty! I just wish they had done the entirety of the "I never wanted to Know" part, istead of cutting it short. Still, it is a thing of beauty.
One of the most beautful power ballads ever. I hope Savatage remains Savatage and not a lonley Jhon Oliva. Ofcourse in the memory of Chris. Whom we love and miss dearly. We love you guys. I completely agree ❤️
JON OLIVA
Jon Oliva, Criss Oliva and Paul O'Neill: the best songwriting team in history! The world needs more Savatage!
#Savatage #SavatageForever #JonOliva #CrissOliva #PaulONeill
Acho difícil existir outra banda tão top como esta neste estilo único deles viu
e acho melhor tb qdo o Jon canta esta música toda, ele dá vida a esta música como ninguém
2nd best... Daisley, Rhoads, and Kerslake are first.
Who listen in 2020? Hugs from brasil
I am listening to it again while taking a shower. LOL
It is hot as hell here today.
I saw a Savatage's gig in 2003 at ATL Hall in Rio.
Ofcourse, and even in 2021. Savatage is still one of my favourite bands.
Hugs from los estados de unidos tambien
@@AFx3144 wish i could have seen them alexander and i still haven't TSO yet either
Just now..
When Jon Oliva sings: "I don't know where the years have gone",
I believe him.
also.... I waisted my time, till time wasted me
My all time favorite American band ❤
My favorite band forever ❤

Savatage was WAY UNDERRATED IMO
Chris, amazing solo!! Love the shout out to your brother guitarist Chris!!! You both are truly 2 of the best to ever play!!!

Matt Laporte did a really good job also. R.I.P. Matt.
Criss is proud.
Agreed Chris is an amazing guitarist, Cris Oliva would be proud!! RIP Cris , I love TSO as well!! Seen them 4 times!!😁🤘🤘🤘🤘

Yeah!! Criss Oliva!!
O yeah!🌹
Agree, i even saw Chris caffey commented on a tribute song here on youtube.
Chris nailed all the licks from Cris Oliva!!! Such a great player and dedication to guitar!! Love all of the musicians involved!!😃😃🤘🤘🤘👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥
🎉happy birthday Jon....enjoy 7/22😘
Caffery is a seriously versatile player. He is willing to play what ever you need him to play, just a natural talent. Criss Oliva requires no introduction, he was a legend
Very unrated in my opinion
I was at Chris's last show. Heard about it when I got home. We made it home safe, but he did not, RIP brother
That sucks Doug!
The fact that this show is not available on dvd is one of the true injustices of life on earth! Savatage rules and Jon Oliva is God!!!
I'm turning 50 in a couple years and I can relate to the lyrics "I dont know where the years have gone memories can only last so long...", and I got seriously into Savatage when a friend of mine was about to throw away the tape which contained this song, I wish so much I could go back to those days and make things right around 1990

I couldn't agree more.
Here Come the Tears.......
One of the most underrated 🎸 that ever lived absolutely 🌹💕❤️💕💙 and so many don't know who he was such a shame for what they missed
This is just an incredible fucking song. Period.
Hell yeah Sleep

Dit was echt een mega gaaf optreden...en ik krijg nog steeds een brok in mijn keel van dit nummer.
Remains utterly amazing !

Just like a love one just like metal it’s never dead as long as you never forget.
Epic band! Epic song! Ty!
One of the beste bands there`s ever gone be!! When is there the reunion.....
This was one of the better concerts I visited. Hail to the Mountain King.
Thank you for this incredible video. I almost cried! LONG LIVE SAVATAGE!
Few years ago it bothered me when someone else sang Jon or Zak song. Today I think these great songs somehow need to be played, and heard.
Savatage must get the recognition they never recieved, except as TSO
Saw themm
At the SHOWCASE in San Antonio Tx. In the late 80s.
They KICKED ASS!🔊🎤🎹🎸
This is such a under rated band
Love this band Savatage for ever
Thanks for posting. I liked Damond Jiniya joining in towards the end.
Does anyone have the full show??? PLEASE?????????
COME ON!!!!
The main one is Chris Caffery - a Savatage veteran, as you can hear in his heartrending guitar work here (best concert I've ever been to in my life).
Ooooo, a good Savatage bootleg! This is a rarity. Thank you for uploading.
Mark, thank you. Sentimental, musical journey. Beautiful moment.

Really excellent song!!!
Gaby.
Love this song!!! I play it on the bc Rich... greatest song!!!!

Best ballad in History... and the best live performance in history
R.I.P. Chris
One of the world´s best hardrock / rock opera band! So sad they´re no more! They´ve been superior! Thank god the Mountain King is still alive and rockin´! ;-)
I love having discussions about savatage. Criss was actually featured in Guitar World!
And my buddy, Clay Marshall, wrote the article!!
Damond scream vocal n Jon vocal so amazing awesome ❤👏🙌

I feel the same excitement whenever I listen to Damond Jiniya singing the scream vocal after the solo played.

Oh man! What an amazing performance and video quality! Thanks very much for this!
Brilliant.
Impossível não se emocionar !!
my dream to see this guys live
chris Oliva in our hearts ... forever man
THE BEST!
still sounding great !
the ONLY heavy metal band of the 80s that used piano a lot in their music and it actually made it heavier.
Awesome! Loved the way Caffery pointed at his Criss Oliva shirt after Temptation Revelation (which he rocked!)
