Hi mam I just wanted to say thanks for making my life easier! Iam writing an English paper tomorrow and I just wanna thank you for helping me. 😀😎🙏😇😘😉😊😁❤️
Currently studying/reviewing English for my college admissions test. I thought it would take me days to understand the subject-verb agreement. Thank you for making it easier!
Am here due to compulsion. I also have come to the realisation that English has absurd grammar rules that only sound so when I had to help English learners. This is a very informative, concise, and clear video. Thank you Ms. Emma for this.
Thank you Emma for teaching me , words and things I didnt know before. Proffesors like you , should be certified with the gold medal. Wishing u all the best , shine always as you do. Much love from Skopje, Macedonia ❤❤❤❤❤
I am from India......this video was very very much helpful to me 🤠 I wanted to learn this topic and when I watched this video it was just few minutes and all the things were crystal clear I don't have words to thank you ❤ thank you Ema sis and respect 🙏🙏🙏☺
Dear Emma, when I first started watching your lessons, I was in good place and I begin to enjoy your videos. But however everything shifted from good to bad. And I still continue watching your lessons and you came like a therapist to me, I Thank you so much. I wish you all the success and happiness in the world.
Love this. The school I work for has a predominnatly hispanic and latino population. I've provided this as a supplemental resource for my 7th grade ELA classes during this Remote learning period, if that is okay. Thank you so much!!! This is fantastic.
My teacher, Mrs. Emma, is incredibly dedicated and works tirelessly to ensure our success. She is an exceptional educator and undoubtedly the best teacher I have ever had, shaping my future in a remarkable way. You know Mrs Emma i subscribed to your channel. Give me more lessons every tuesday to make me smart! Bye have a good day!
Thank God, I found this video. I understood all the tips that you've shared very clearly. It helps me a lot because I'm studying English words and how to use it properly.
I guess no amount of _simple_ and clear explanation by brilliant teacher in existence could make learning English *simpler* if the language itself is by nature *confusing*.
teacher be like: you're all nine grades, and I believe all of you know subject verb clearly. so let's just skip this chapter from the highschool entrance exam reviews. me: subject what ? what does she mean?
Read it to clear your doubts!!! 1. If the subject is singular, the verb must be singular too. 2. If the subject is plural, the verb must also be plural. 3. When the subject of the sentence is composed of two or more nouns or pronouns connected by and, use a plural verb. 4. When there is one subject and more than one verb, the verbs throughout the sentence must agree with the subject. 5. When a phrase comes between the subject and the verb, remember that the verb still agrees with the subject, not the noun or pronoun in the phrase following the subject of the sentence. 6. When two or more singular nouns or pronouns are connected by "or" or "nor," use a singular verb. 7. When a compound subject contains both a singular and a plural noun or pronoun joined by "or" or "nor," the verb should agree with the part of the subject that is closest to the verb. This is also called the rule of proximity. 8. The words and phrases "each," "each one," "either," "neither," "everyone," "everybody," "anyone," "anybody," "nobody," "somebody," "someone," and "no one" are singular and require a singular verb. 9. Uncountable nouns take a singular verb. 10. Some countable nouns in English such as earnings, goods, odds, surroundings, proceeds, contents, and valuables only have a plural form and take a plural verb. 11. In sentences beginning with "there is" or "there are," the subject follows the verb. Since "there" is not the subject, the verb agrees with what follows the verb. 12. Collective nouns are words that imply more than one person but are considered singular and take a singular verb. Some examples are "group," "team," "committee," "family," and "class." However, the plural verb is used if the focus is on the individuals in the group. This is much less common.
Wow the video was released three years ago and it's still helping me. Thank you very much I have subscribed because why not, you are such a great teacher. 💜
Hello Emma! Thanks for the lesson, specially the part related to Indefinite Pronouns, because I always had this doubt...if the verb would be in a singular form or in a plural form. Now I know the correct structure. :-)
