I had the luxury of working with karen in a film almost 15 years ago. But I maintain no one taught me more about the craft of acting than she did. I love you, mama. I will never forget.
Karen Black , in a world of fakes, she was a Genuine Original ! A Great Actor and a Great Singer !
I always loved Karen Black. She was a great actress and highly underrated. She should have won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for Five Easy Pieces, The Great Gatsby, and Best Actress for Day of the Locust. The best don't always win. Loved her in Burnt Offerings, Trilogy of Terror, and Comeback to the Five and Dime Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean too.
For Five Easy Pieces she won all the critics awards and with The New York Film Critics Award she won best supporting actress but also was first runner up (2nd) place for Best Actress at The New York Film Critics, lost the best actress by a few votes to Glenda Jackson(Women in Love); Karen Black's role in Five Easy Pieces was one of those hybrid ones, a lot more than supporting but not quite full lead. Anyway, she was robbed of the oscar, one of the most ridiculous years as it was given to Helen Hayes for the lame film Airport.
@@155gerard Okay, I have to add a few more gems with Karen Black: Nashville, Gypsy 83, House of a 1000 Corpses, Airport 1975, Family Plot, Firecracker, and Red Dirt.
Beautiful woman! Big heart, soul. I love everything she did. Rest In Peace Karen Black.💫✨♥️
A fantastic actress, wonderful singer. Miss her. True original.
Phenomenal. I'm falling in love. RIP Karen.
A great actress, Huge Talent.
A much deserved ovation!
Seeing her perform , Cabaret style, was life changing, for me.
Though it was back in the early 80's...it stays with me.
I had a Facebook conversation with her, and we spoke of that night, she thanked me for the memory, and I thanked her, for mine.
May she R.I.P.
Karen loved most to sing. This is a terrific example of the heart she had for music.
I remember meeting her that very night, she was blown away by the audience reaction and you could tell she was truly moved.
R.I.P. you beautiful woman!
I'm still listening and watching in 2019. This woman is LEGEND. A true artist.
She was Amazing!!!!!!!!
Karen Black had quite a good voice. It was first evident to me in Five Easy Pieces. RIP Karen.
What a talented lady - she gave it everything.
I've loved this song since first hearing June Christy sing it. This was a great rendition. Karen Black left us so soon, so damn soon.
I knew it from Barbra Streisand. I looked it up, and it seems Kaye Ballard was the first to perform it. Thanks for turning me on to June Christy.
This song has haunted me since I was a child. I grew up listening to June Christy's version and it's still my favorite. However, this is great too. Didn't know Karen had that kind of range.
I love her voice 😍
Not sure she really knew what she was doing with the swinging of the microphone there! She was really something else..........wish I'd been there that night. R.I.P.
I love her giving her accompianist his due.
I just found out that she was a great mentor to Juliette Lewis. Two souls with free spirits and big hearts.
wow it's wonderful thanks for sharing this amazing video!!!....I was eleven when I saw a movie with her, and from that moment she was always one of my 5 favorite actresses, along with Sissy Spacek, Jessica Lange, Stockard Channing and Lili Taylor ....
Love.
Wow...never knew she had a voice.
My doppelganger
Liked her in Children of the Night. Good early Vampire movie :o)
They zoomed in on the marquee for the movie Come Back To The Five and Dime Jimmy Dean and then Karen Black came out of the pink limo. Interesting!
i love the song she sang.. beautiful

Did she sing more songs at the event?
do you know where I can get her music it's not on itunes/amazon/etc... :LL
Her husband was doing something to get it out to the public.
check out "the pyx"
christopher carrier Yes! Such a garbled movie, but memorable for her score. She was truly haunting. Used the same trembly, ethereal high voice as she does here, in a dark, medieval mode.
