I have #187, and it has 145,000 when it left me stranded on it's 1st ride of 2023. Came home on the AAA flatbed, then started right up in the driveway. Still runs but doesn't sound right. I had none of the debris that you had in the screens (just lucky I guess) although my liner is flaking at the top of the tank, probably dam ethanol fumes.... Stay well !!
Very good video. Thanks so much for posting this. I'm working on a 1999 Electra Glide Ultra Classic EFI that sat outside under a cover for 10 years with a little gas in it. There's rust and varnish all inside the tank, pump, strainer, filter, everywhere. The bike starts with starter fluid, but shuts down immediatley after burning the starter fluid. Obviously it's starving for fuel. Not sure if just replacing everything inside the tank will solve all the issues, but I'll take it one step at a time. Your video will help me get started. Big Thanks!
If I were to make any suggestion on the process shown here, it would be to cover the tank before using spanners etc over the top.... I've learnt the hard way!!!! Great vid though
So i have the kit right off the batt the pump filter wont work...too long in the back...took the pump out and found stuff inside the filter,..I figured out a way to get the old one off and cleaned it out..what i found was like your pump, the screen was getting clogged up with paint flakes..but it ran fine...so i cleaned it and put it aside ..Now my question was how did paint flakes get in the pump filter if theirs no holes in the filter??..the piss poor design of the filter to pump has attachment gaps..so i filled the gap with Marine grade JB Weld..Now the new pump mounts in the holder and no more stuff getting to the pump.also made cut outs on the fuel filter mounting arm so it sits flush in the tank mount ..the rest was easy....thks for sharing your vids they help...Peace
Glad I found this video I have a 1996 FLHTCI and I think it needs a new fuel pump. I can't hear it prime and it will not start. I will watch it again before I dig into it.Did the gasket , filter and hose connects come with the pump?
The pump and some clamps cam with the new pump. Check your fuses to make sure you have power to the pump. If you have a voltmeter, you can take off the center console and cycle the ignition switch to see if you are getting voltage to the pump. If you are, you need a fuel pump. If you are going to the trouble of replacing the fuel pump, be sure to replace the in-tank filter. You'll need to order that separately- about $30 bucks! Good luck!
doing my 99 today found cracking fuel line not the factory lines..any hoo you showed your fuel pump clamp with tie wraps holding them together..i guess the new spacer is too fat.? im going to buy the pump and filter kit and see what happens..the old pump works fine so far so i do have a backup ...thks for sharing .i should rebuild the fuel rail while im down this far...Peace..
Hey I have same bike as u. My question is about disconnecting fuel line to take tank off. Do u just unscrew the two hex nuts between tank and lines to get fuel lines off? Doesn’t look like a quick connect. Any help appreciated. Thx
Yes, unfortunately that is the way to remove the fuel lines from the tank to be able to remove the tank. On the 1995 Harley didn't make it easy as they did on the newer bikes with the quick release connector.
I have the same bike and my fuel pump is extremely loud and I cannot figure this out. I put a new pump in and it still makes the same sound. Have you guys had any issues like this? It is a very loud buzz like a check valve or something.
Thanks I bought the Same bike. I heard sucking noise coming from somewhere. Now I know it is in the tank. The fuel lines are leaking at the tank. I will get a kit for those. Pretty sure it just the problems from not being rode. But it the same exact bike. I do not know the number.
Hello thanks for your great video I can't figure out how to get the fuel pump housing off the two posts that hold it into the tank I've been pulling on it for 3 days I would appreciate any suggestions I'm at the end of my rope thank you
In my case, the fuel pump hiding just slid down the two shafts. The white plastic housing has two holes along the sides that the posts in the fuel tank slide into. Yours should be any different. Good luck.
It's working out ok. It's a little noisier than I would prefer but it is still going strong. No issues at this point. You probably can't go wrong with either brand. Good luck!
Have you had any luck removing your fuel pump housing I'm having the same problem is there a bolt that holds it down on those two prongs that's the cup I've been pulling on it and it will not come out

someone who knows what he is doing, and not banging parts on the tank.

Great video! How's that Fuel Pump Factory pump working for you? I was considering that or the Quantum/HighFlowFuel pump.

Pro tip: watch series on Flixzone. I've been using them for watching loads of movies during the lockdown.
Sir, where is the fuel pressure regulator on your bike?
it is between the fuel injectors. Follow the fuel pressure line from the tank to the fuel injectors.
I have a question for you
You said it was number 592 out of 2000
Never really said what you needed to do to remove the pump... Is it boted in or what
The pump is bolted in with Torx head screws.
Have you had any luck removing your fuel pump housing I'm having the same problem is there a bolt that holds it down on those two prongs that's the cup I've been pulling on it and it will not come out
