This was incredible. Thanks for this amazing video! I ordered a RG35XX H while owning a Miyoo Mini plus, so it was a huge affirmation seeing you own both and bring an honest review. Stayed for the content, subbed for the quality!
I own the Anbernic RG556 (which I love at the moment) but this video introduced me to Portmaster and am currently installing on my RG556 thanks to your content. 👏
My first comment on the channel, I think it was about time to come of incognito. The RG35XX H will be my first console of this kind when the order arrives, sometime before the end of the month. Since I placed the order, I've been watching YT channels with this niche to check things, what system to use, how to charge it, what case to get, etc. Before, I was thinking of staying on the original updated system, but Portmaster alone sold me this CFT. Of course, I'm happy to use PICO-8 and the rest of the emulators. This console really offers a lot for $50+.
Just saying this to adjust expectation: portmaster games require a bit of setup, that's why I'm gonna make a dedicated video on it, to make things pretty much smooth sailing. Stay tuned! ❤️
SO HERE IS US 🤝 MY DEAR NERD FRIEND! THANK YOU for this wonderful video! I started watching excited about playing GTA VC on the RG35xx H, but I ended up with the mission of picking it up and starting to be happier, while there's still time lol

Man, v11 is looking GREAT. I just reinstalled v10 because I'm a tinkerer and broke some stuff on the system, and now I've configured some stuff again and played quite some games. And now comes v11 :') ok, I'll try it. Standby, themes, and that damn Portmaster app are looking good, man. Actual standby is nice but i wish theyd all just implement the autosave/resume feature garlicOS has. Like being able to turn on the device and continue where you left of within 10 seconds is nice. You just never have to worry about battery or saving the game. It just works. Its the reason i still use the OG 35xx more than my other handhelds.. Edit: this seems pretty similar with the autoresume feature. How does the saving work though? Like does it autosave when you just exit to the menu or shut down the device mid game?
You can replicate it in muOS, just select "boot into last game" in the settings and then have RetroArch "automatically save the savestate on exit" and "automatically load savestate when the rom starts". Note that the RetroArch entries might be formulated differently, I don't know them off the top of my head, but yeah. Functionally we'd have the same thing. 😆
Awesome OS, but for 35xx plus owners, there is still one benefit at Stock OS - analog switcher on power button, for every console (psp, dreamcast, n64).

On the unhinged rant topic. I'm in that boat where gaming time is hard to come by. The way I've gotten 30 mins-1hr of game time in most days is at bedtime. Wife is happy I went to bed at the same time, she falls asleep quickly and I get some time to game which helps me de-stress and relax. I started doing this with my Switch, then got a Gamesir X2 for PC streaming to an old Galaxy S9. Now I got this RG 35xxh for the retro games I want to play but don't want to deal with my S9 setup. Wanted something more convenient and this fit that bill. If you can find some gametime, it's worth owning devices that will allow you to do that in whatever way is most convenient to you. My current game rotation is FC24 on Switch, Yakuza Kiwami over Steamlink to the S9, and Crystal on the RG. Very happy with the purchase.
Vlad, hello! I've got my Anbernic rg35xx h. Do you have some kind of setup guide on your channel? Also, what kind of charger i need to use? 5v charger will be enough?
Joey's Retro Handhelds has some awesome written guides for it. :) Basically though, it's super simple: 1. You either get the updated stock firmware image from their website / the image of a custom firmware that you plan on installing 2. You download Rufus and format the card with the image you got in step 1. 3. You put it in your RG35XX H, start it up, let it configure. 4. When it's done, you take it out and add your roms and bios files in their specific folders. :) The setup might sound intimidating but it really isn't if you take it one step at a time. You got this, my guy. 🍻
@@VladNerd thanks bro! I found out that 5v output charger will be perfect for this console. Last question: my Anbernic rg35xx h is charging. I see words on screen. What means "cap:83%" and "voltage:4.08v"?
Hey Vladnerd, really dig your channel, fun, informative and helpful. Just wondered I've got PS1 files in CHD format and put the PS1 BIOS files in the bios folder on MUOS (single card) but when I tap on a game, it goes black then back to the game selection. I just wondered what I am doing wrong. I've got the correct bios files (I even tried a different pack of bios files but same issue). All my other games run fine but the PS1 is proving problematic. Any ideas please?? 🙏
after day of playing diablo port all got fked up. it stoped load ports and postmaster at all. didn't do a shiet kinda. any idea what happened and how to fix it? =
You can get moonlight through the portmaster app, but from what I understood, the whole moonlight port needs to be updated, so currently moonlight is a no-go. :(
@@VladNerd That's unfortunate, but not having hdmi/Bluetooth was a but of a deal breaker (for now) anyways. Regardless, thanks for replying! Really dig your channel, and appreciate all of the informative videos. Subscribed and cheers from Seattle!
I just made an IMG and booted up MuOS..truly smooth. Question: Does it have video player support (MP4, MKV, etc..), like the latest stock Ok of anbernic??
Can't wait for RG35XXSP release, and hopefully muOS will release a build for that handheld fast (previous builds might work, but some features might not be fully supported ) But my ideal portable handheld would be a clamshell device with sleep and game history / quick resume, like on miyoo mini plus. I love being able to see actual screenshots on quick resume showing where I was last time I played, because it give me like a quick "motivation boost" to continue playing. muOS might work a bit differently, but I'll take what I can get :)
I recently posted on Reddit about running the full version of celeste using port master! It’s wild, made me use this device 10x more! It requires some tinkering but I think it would be great if you could cover it in your portmaster video!
I've just ordered a second 64GB card. I figured it's great idea to keep a second card so I can hot-swap between Stock and MuOS without flashing my card every 10 minutes. Haven't even got around to updating to the latest Stock yet.
Does this already come with all the BIOS files? If not where can I download the for the rg35xx h without having to re download the whole stock os rom 😏
Doesn't really matter, as long as you use brand-name ones. You could put games on both, so you don't waste any space, but in my experience even one 128gb card would more than cover most needs. :)
My bro with all this info I'm finally sure i want the 35xx h as my first emulator device (after watching different videos and creators for like 4 months lol). I'm not a fan of the vertical gameboy like consoles and the big ones like the ayn odin and rp4 sound like a little too much for me. I wasn't excited for this console but with you showing us all the improvements i now think that i really need it. Sorry for the long comment but i also have to ask. Any chance we can see og xbox games running on portmaster such as fable and halo 1? Thanks for the content and the updates!
@@VladNerd thanks for the info! when i saw vice city running i got a little too excited thinking maybe the pc ports would work too. But no worries we still have plenty of games to download and never play haha
I'm not sure beans release includes a true sleep mode. Could you confirm that? I look it up at their discord and found no information about true sleep mode
i tried MUOS , none of the portmaster games I tried had working controls , tried KNULLI, dreamcast and PSP was unplayable , , tried modified stock , no difference , I am good with stock
Haven't tried n64 but Dreamcast feels literally identical. (I'm going through the DC version of Legacy of Kain - Soul Reaver 1 currently, it's my favorite game series)
You are dropping a lot of facts, but if you don't show comparisons against stock firmware how we know if it's true? For example boot time, PSP performance, battery drain in standby etc.
I've got an RG35xx H 2 days ago. I really like it. Very pocketabe. But, my 46 yo eyes are asking me to get a bigger screen. So, I'll get an Odin 2 or an RG556.
As usual really nice video 😊, thank you 😊 I am searching to a firmware providing the ability to play Amiga, Spectrum, Vectrex and mame, do that firmware peovide that possibly??
You'll have to check their changelog for more accurate info on that. :) But they do have a lot of cores preinstalled and a quite fancy feature called something along the lines of "smart core assignment", where they kinda figure out which different rom folder name variations belong to which system and then they automatically assign the right core to that. :)
Check the description if you want to help the channel grow. Also, *cool nerds help other nerds out by liking and subscribing.* ❤

I have no idea how to put anything on my handheld game so all I have is out the box. I just can’t get this technology 😢
Don't worry Lisa. Even with the stock OS, you'll still get a very nice experience. Just enjoy the device to its fullest. :)
Damm, the end of the video hits hard
it's funny because it's true. Funny... yeah... :(
Vlad, hello! I've got my Anbernic rg35xx h. Do you have some kind of setup guide on your channel? Also, what kind of charger i need to use? 5v charger will be enough?
Joey's Retro Handhelds has some awesome written guides for it. :)
Basically though, it's super simple:
1. You either get the updated stock firmware image from their website / the image of a custom firmware that you plan on installing
2. You download Rufus and format the card with the image you got in step 1.
3. You put it in your RG35XX H, start it up, let it configure.
4. When it's done, you take it out and add your roms and bios files in their specific folders. :)
The setup might sound intimidating but it really isn't if you take it one step at a time. You got this, my guy. 🍻
@@VladNerd thanks bro! I found out that 5v output charger will be perfect for this console.
Last question: my Anbernic rg35xx h is charging. I see words on screen. What means "cap:83%" and "voltage:4.08v"?
@@diobrando011 just don't use fast chargers with it. :)
=
Didn't happen to me, sorry dude. You should ask the guys in the muOS discord server for help. They'll surely guide you in the right direction. :)
Thanks for this overview. Does this support Vertical Arcade like Stock? How about ColecoVision?
JUST got mine in the mail, and stoked for this update! I dont suppose anyone has tested moonlight on this version?
You can get moonlight through the portmaster app, but from what I understood, the whole moonlight port needs to be updated, so currently moonlight is a no-go. :(
@@VladNerd That's unfortunate, but not having hdmi/Bluetooth was a but of a deal breaker (for now) anyways. Regardless, thanks for replying! Really dig your channel, and appreciate all of the informative videos. Subscribed and cheers from Seattle!
@vladnerd i installe fresh copy of beans, but wifi doesnt detect anything, do i have to do manual settings ..thx
Very informative video. Got a laugh too. Sir Vlad, take my sub.
what about hte original rg35xx?
@VladNerd Awesome video, are you still using muOS, I just got my little unit yesterday.
currently yeah, but I plan on vastly covering Knulli again soon. Expect videos on that as well. :)
I just made an IMG and booted up MuOS..truly smooth. Question: Does it have video player support (MP4, MKV, etc..), like the latest stock Ok of anbernic??
Just bought a RG35XX SP and I'm definitely gonna go with muOs, Id love to run Fallout 1 and 2 on it.
I'll release a video today on exactly Portmaster, stay tuned!
Can't wait for RG35XXSP release, and hopefully muOS will release a build for that handheld fast (previous builds might work, but some features might not be fully supported )
But my ideal portable handheld would be a clamshell device with sleep and game history / quick resume, like on miyoo mini plus. I love being able to see actual screenshots on quick resume showing where I was last time I played, because it give me like a quick "motivation boost" to continue playing. muOS might work a bit differently, but I'll take what I can get :)
Yeah, I'm still waiting for someone to replicate the fake hibernate we have in Onion OS. This is the closest we got so far. 😆
Hello friends!
I’m still waiting for my RG55XX to arrive.
Does muOS support moonlight? Which CFW has the best support for moonlight?
I recently posted on Reddit about running the full version of celeste using port master! It’s wild, made me use this device 10x more! It requires some tinkering but I think it would be great if you could cover it in your portmaster video!
I've just ordered a second 64GB card. I figured it's great idea to keep a second card so I can hot-swap between Stock and MuOS without flashing my card every 10 minutes. Haven't even got around to updating to the latest Stock yet.
The craziness and poopingness is mind blowing! You can support and try Knulli (ported batocera) another 64bit CFW for the RG35XX H/Plus/2024.
And the same to you my dear nerd! 👍🏻
I got to 6:58 and immediately realized I need to subscribe to VladNerd right now and that I'm an idiot for not doing so sooner.
I was listining in the backround, then he said portmaster. Now im listening in the foreground
Does this already come with all the BIOS files? If not where can I download the for the rg35xx h without having to re download the whole stock os rom 😏
I covered this in the vid, you need to move them over. :)
Damn I was hoping you would of said that the Bluetooth and hdmi was working...
So... Online Updater is no longer found in Retroarch...
Miyoo Mini Plus with Onion OS is my daily driver exclusively because boot time and battery drain were bull cookies with Batocera.
Would you recommend to use 1 SD card or 2 cards? If 2, should I install the OS on one card and ROMs on the second one?
Doesn't really matter, as long as you use brand-name ones. You could put games on both, so you don't waste any space, but in my experience even one 128gb card would more than cover most needs. :)
No love for the 28xx?
I guess it's just too recent for him to get one already. The channel is still small (but cozy 😊)
It's actually on the way! Stay tuned! ❤️
Thanks for the kind words!
I don't think we'd see Xbox games on Portmasterz though. :(
@@VladNerd thanks for the info! when i saw vice city running i got a little too excited thinking maybe the pc ports would work too.
But no worries we still have plenty of games to download and never play haha
I'm not sure beans release includes a true sleep mode. Could you confirm that? I look it up at their discord and found no information about true sleep mode
Yup, I talked with one of the devs about this a while back. It's at the kernel level.
i tried MUOS , none of the portmaster games I tried had working controls , tried KNULLI, dreamcast and PSP was unplayable , , tried modified stock , no difference , I am good with stock
that's weird, controls should work out of the box on portmaster / muOS. Stock is also good if you want a hassle-free experience. :)
Where can I get these "bull cookies"? They sound very tasty...
Does HDMI out still work with this OS?
BTW, can you use two SS Card setup with this version?👍🏼
Better then batocera?
Does this OS let you play vertical games the way the stock OS does?
Yup, but provided you do a bit of RetroArch tinkering
How is n64 / dreamcast performance compared to the stock OS?
Haven't tried n64 but Dreamcast feels literally identical. (I'm going through the DC version of Legacy of Kain - Soul Reaver 1 currently, it's my favorite game series)
@@VladNerd thanks!
btw is SM64 playable in MuOS? or is it in the Ports section?
the N64 version plays quite nicely. Just checked. :)
@@VladNerd is it in Ports or is it in ports?
does it work with the m17?
Is it me or is it not fitting on my 64GB SD card?
Just you. Mine fits perfectly fine
Does the battery last good with this firmware?
You got me at "My dear nerd"
Yeah, we're gonna need a video on those snacks at some point. 🤤
You are dropping a lot of facts, but if you don't show comparisons against stock firmware how we know if it's true? For example boot time, PSP performance, battery drain in standby etc.
What coffee brand are you drinking? I need to get some 😅
I refuse to say, people who actually "know" proper coffee will want to send me to court 😄
I've got an RG35xx H 2 days ago. I really like it. Very pocketabe. But, my 46 yo eyes are asking me to get a bigger screen. So, I'll get an Odin 2 or an RG556.
I can TOTALLY relate. Sucks for us who didn't win the eyesight lottery. 🥹
I love your accent and your humor, where are you from?
Romania / Transylvania region specifically. You know, the land of vampires and all that good stuff. 😆
Look forward to see your trimui smart pro video.
Subscribed and took a seat from an old lady! 😋
Can it support Android & have UA-cam or internet browsing?
Nope, sorry. The Android ones are more in the upper price segments. These are purely-linux handhelds. :)
As usual really nice video 😊, thank you 😊
I am searching to a firmware providing the ability to play Amiga, Spectrum, Vectrex and mame, do that firmware peovide that possibly??
vlad if you hate saying beans you could say "Loubia"
i have a question what is the version and the included COREs of retroarch?
You'll have to check their changelog for more accurate info on that. :)
But they do have a lot of cores preinstalled and a quite fancy feature called something along the lines of "smart core assignment", where they kinda figure out which different rom folder name variations belong to which system and then they automatically assign the right core to that. :)
I look forward to your review of Trimui Smart Pro! 🤩
