@@sensapipe Yeah, I was listening to it and I could actually pinpoint exact spots in the dialogue that seemed written for a 'modern' audience, i.e., one that cares less about good storytelling and more about checking boxes. An entire chapter was dedicated to how the BBEG can't have children, but that doesn't bother her because she's a strong independent troll. Likewise, earlier in the story said troll equates marriage to slavery. Having opinions on these things isn't inherently bad, but having to shoehorn in these views smacks of modern storytelling, which just clashes with the idea of having this big, bloody, brutal conflict between fantasy kingdoms and creatures.
I could say so much... I'll go with great work, I am really enjoying these stories. And that Bwon Samdi was the greatest addition to Warcraft since a very long time.

A true love for a franchies, means you are wiling to poke fun at it. Things always have their weird ways of working out, and the stories of WoW are no such exception. I love when I can sit and understand something like this so much Im willing to chuckle at a few things from it here an there. It really is why I like WoW soo much over other stories. It is fun, it is serious, and takes its own shortcomings with great strides. And I love all of the side stories.

Yeah we found them on Argus during Legion and brought them back to Azeroth. Turalyon was actually put in charge of the Alliance last expansion due to Anduin being yeeted off to the Shadowlands. Which is defo a good idea. Put the man who's entire worldview is 22 years out of date in charge.

I love all the stuff you have done, this is entertaining as well, but this shouldn't be considered Warcraft lore/story, nothing past WotLK should be considered lore. Warcraft died with WotLK.
40:25 since when can homosexual weddings be happening in a medieval fantasy settings of houses of nobles that require heirs and determine their successor by firstborn? This sounds like ticking boxes to sell books to agenda people.. especially since it never before happened in the story of warcraft. However if it could be brought in somewhere then a society in which we know not much about like the Zandalari. It would open room for them having a different approach towards the whole thing. However if you implement such box ticking you would also need to implement all other boxes that make such a development possible.. general education, individualism, rights and laws that make people equal. Societal and technological advancement in general.. if not.. its just pathetic ticking of boxes.. and bad writing..
I dunno, man. I don't know if the historical, real-world rules apply in the fictional universe of Warcraft. To a certain extent; it's whatever Blizzard and the authors decide. I honestly doubt there's anything in canon or in-game that specifically says 'no homosexual weddings'. The thing is though - even if it was 100% just 'box-ticking' or 'pandering' or whatever. Does it matter? In the grand scheme of things; does a group being pandered to affect anyone elses life in the slightest? lol.
@@FlyingButtress If it causes the quality of the story to go downhill yes. And in my experience that is what is happening to 90% of stories. If there was some background story of how Zandalari nobles have a tradition or a different system of marriage and inheritance and adopting orphans that could've made for some good story and explanation. Or maybe even that's just always been the way of the Zandalari.. But here you just get the gay checkbox and no further elaboration whatsoever. It just all of a sudden happens. In this stories case it has no real impact on the story. Neither good nor bad and the writer is clearly good enough. But it still feels cheap. And you're very wrong about pandering not affecting anyone elses life.

I love all the stuff you have done, this is entertaining as well, but this shouldn't be considered Warcraft lore/story, nothing past WotLK should be considered lore. Warcraft died with WotLK.
40:25 since when can homosexual weddings be happening in a medieval fantasy settings of houses of nobles that require heirs and determine their successor by firstborn? This sounds like ticking boxes to sell books to agenda people.. especially since it never before happened in the story of warcraft. However if it could be brought in somewhere then a society in which we know not much about like the Zandalari. It would open room for them having a different approach towards the whole thing.
However if you implement such box ticking you would also need to implement all other boxes that make such a development possible.. general education, individualism, rights and laws that make people equal. Societal and technological advancement in general.. if not.. its just pathetic ticking of boxes.. and bad writing..
I dunno, man. I don't know if the historical, real-world rules apply in the fictional universe of Warcraft. To a certain extent; it's whatever Blizzard and the authors decide. I honestly doubt there's anything in canon or in-game that specifically says 'no homosexual weddings'.
The thing is though - even if it was 100% just 'box-ticking' or 'pandering' or whatever. Does it matter? In the grand scheme of things; does a group being pandered to affect anyone elses life in the slightest? lol.
@@FlyingButtress If it causes the quality of the story to go downhill yes. And in my experience that is what is happening to 90% of stories. If there was some background story of how Zandalari nobles have a tradition or a different system of marriage and inheritance and adopting orphans that could've made for some good story and explanation. Or maybe even that's just always been the way of the Zandalari.. But here you just get the gay checkbox and no further elaboration whatsoever. It just all of a sudden happens. In this stories case it has no real impact on the story. Neither good nor bad and the writer is clearly good enough. But it still feels cheap. And you're very wrong about pandering not affecting anyone elses life.
@@ViewTube_Emperor_of_Mankind Fair enough. I agree in situations where that's the entire point / personality of the character it can seem a bit unnecessary. Although I do think theres a bit of nuance - sexuality does become a more important part of a persons life when theyve spent years having to hide it, for example.

But it has to be done right. And things like celebrating being different or rubbing it in everyones face.. like what is currently so popular are the wrong way to handle/deal with it. Blizzard is notorious for creating poor couples. It is SJW infested so pandering when it is not necessary is absolutely expected. The Lore went to shit as well. If you want believable world building check Japanese and Central European games. They don't have Leftist infection.
