I love listening to carlos..you see him in person.. watching him and his band..you get soooo hooked. Into his music.. the have a Mexican restaurant in Capitol, ca neat the beach south of Santa cruz..the food is soooooo good
I was watching Carlos live and during the encore the drummer was becommin visably tired. Carlos went behind the drum kit and touched his back, and it was lightning had struck. The drummer and the whole band had a new energy. That is the spirit that you hear in his guitar.
Carlos Santana and SRV are definitely two of my all time favorites. Carlos plays straight from his heart. There are many amazing artists ... all the greats from the Eric Clapton Crossroads shows ... B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Robert Cray, John Mayer just to name a few. Thanks for another great reaction video!
Over the years I have admired guitarist Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jose Feliciano and a few more. In England they used to write on walls the graffiti- Clapton is God!. But for me, Carlos Santana is the GOAT. No question about it. When I first heard him play on his first album in the late sixties, that was IT for me. ❤❤❤
My uncle introduced me to Santana’s music when I was a young teenager and I’ve loved him ever since. Europa is one of his best. Thank you for the reaction.
I was twelve year old in 1970 when I heard Santana and Black Magic Woman on the radio. His sound was different and I was drawn to it immediately. As years passed heard more of his music and liked it all. Then saw him live in Anaheim California in 1979 and two or three more times in the 1980s in Chicagoland. I have seen hundreds of concerts and Santana’s sit high on the list of favorites. He is one of my top favorite guitarists but what I also loved so much seeing him live was his percussion section.
Santana, Hendrix and Frampton, all top 1 for all my live. If you never heard the other two, you're missing a lot in your life. Thanks for reminding me of this concert, gonna put my ear buds and have some fun.
Carlos has such a distinctive guitar tone, you can see he feels every note. I have been an admirer for years. Maybe listen to "Samba Pa Ti." another instrumental track.
no one is Hendrix except Hendrix, same with everyone from before and after then, Carlos IS Carlos, No One can play that way, except Carlos. And he has been there and done that, in every way possible
This song gives me the chills every time. Hendricks was a fascinating personality but technically speaking cannot compare to Clapton, Santana, Duane Allman, on and on.
Carlos Santana is an extraordinary musician!!! The only band at Woodstock that didn't already have an album out!!! That changed immediately overnight!!! The performance was beyond incredible!!🎵🎼🎶🎤🎸🎹🥁🔥🤘🤘
Master guitarist! Complete package. Makes it sing. So many wonderful instrumentals in his illustrious career. Puts so much feeling and emotion in every note! Hope you do more reactions of my favorite artist. A wealth of wonderful music of his to choose from. Can always get into a dose of Carlos!
Thanks, PR... That was the year I graduated Highschool! Now THAT'S what REAL MUSIC IS!!! You'd be doing yourself a favor, by checking out some more of his work!!! (The man's a "Force of Nature"; for cryin' out loud!!!)
Ooh, another awesome rabbit hole👏❤️🎼🎼 Check out George Benson and of course one of my favourites, BB King. They both become the music like Carlos Santana. Enjoy
There were so many great guitarists around at the same time it led to many into the early hours discussions usually ended by the sun coming up and no conclusion.
I'll never forget the time I bumped into Carlos in the streets of San Francisco, he looked at me, held up the peace sign and simply said "Love & Light My Brother".. It was surreal to say the least
My 2nd all-time favorite recording artists is the group Santana only behind Earth, Wind & Fire (the group "Incognito" being my current favorite). My favorite guitarist is Carlos Santana and yes, his sound is unique. He has said in an interview that he fashions the sounds he produces after the voice of a woman.
I've been loving Santana and his guitars for more than five decades. I consider him among my favorite dozen and a half or so guitarists. For a special treat, and an intro to another of my favorite guitarists, run a search for Carlos Santana & John McLaughlin, and check out a couple of the songs they did together that come up, I think you'll be entertained.
I remember the day I first heard the studio version; blew me away. You might really like “Song of the Wind” from the Album “Caravansari”. Really appreciate your approach to the music of my generation, as well as all the other reactions.
I love Carlos and his unique sound, but Knopfler makes me fly and as soon as you hear a note or two, you know it's Mark. Good channel , honest reactions, keep up your work
you need to watch santana at his roots..."soul sacrifice" at woodstock. amazing! he plays with the most emotion and expertise! you can always tell if you are listening to him.
. That’s very nice of you but you don’t need to do that. How about a request that can be my gift. Angeline Saris “ Come Undone “. She’s an credible bassist
I saw them in 77 in Portland Oregon after getting 7 tickets for 21 dollars from a hustling 11 year old, took my friends and sat right up front in a small venue with amazing acoustics. Great show.
Jimmy Paige, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Peter Green from the "Original" Fleetwood Mac playing real blues. Marcus King, Junior Kimbrough (real southern delta blues) Carlos, Angus Young, Gilmour, Alvin Lee in his heyday. There are so so so many. They have all brought me pleasure and at the same time tied me up to my memories of this long life. Thanks for your quest....now for my repeated re-quest LOL .....Rush 2112 the beginning two songs and the lyrics Ha!
A great artist holding back is better than a great technician letting it rip. Love your take. Agree that his sound is so diffeent. He makes aguitar sing.
Prior to Europa, in the Abraxas album, he performed "Samba Pa Ti", it was the first solo track he played and it was a huge success back in the day. Europa was a second attempt to perform a solo track but it was never like Samba. I personally like both but it is undeniable that the first was the one. In the same album, Gitano, there's a song called Dance Sister Dance that it would be worth for you to react to. This album was the transition from the usual Santana's latin rock sound into a more elaborate and intimate music, due to the friendship developed between him and John MacLaughlin, frontman of Mahavishu Orchestra, who introduced Santana to his free-jazz, progressive-symphonic rock (there's a Santana album called Caravanserai, where you'll be able to appreciate the result of this partnership). So if you have the chance, react to it, you surely won't regret it. Have a big hug alongside my blessings.
Favourite guitarist? Right now it’s John Dwyer out of Oh Sees. Oh Sees playing ‘The Dream’ Live At Endless Daze 2017 is just mind-blowing. The drummers (count them, two) are literally steaming like they are setting fire 😂. Most exciting performances I’ve ever seen on UA-cam and live. I was lucky to see them play in the Uk last year. So much beer flung in the air it was raining beer and sweat aaaaaa
And Prince's hero was Santana. Though he surely created his own style of even more "showing off". But Prince could also play Santana style, at the end of his album "Rainbow Children" one can hear that.
@@norberthandermann9365 true, Last December has some good guitar playing in it. but he said often that Sonny T, the bass player in his band (one of his bands), was his biggest influence.
In 2015 I flew to meet a friend and see Santana perform in Las Vegas. There was only one word to describe the show - PERFECTION!!! However the original drummer and organist have always been my favorites in the band line up.
My favorite guitar solo of all time is "Maggotbrain" by the Funkadelics. The song is one awesome long guitar solo. The story I heaard was that George Clinton told guitarist Eddy Hazel to play like his momma just died, and the rest is history. Santana does an awesome cover of Maggotbrain. For Europa, I prefer the saxophone version by Gato Barbieri. Way slower, so more sexy/romantic sounding.
I saw this tour in Dallas TX at SMU's Moody Auditorium. He was just like this. The warm-up band was Journey without Steve Perry. It was a magnificent show. Journey & Neal Schon were amazing.
Carlos Santana is a legendary guitarist! I know you also appreciate SRV; a few of my personal favorites are Mark Knoppfler (Dire Straits), Robert Cray (Robert Cray Band), and Todd Mohr (Big Head Todd and the Monsters). All of these distinctive guitarists have their own flavor and each is excellent.
One of my favourite guitar players is Steve Hackett. If you like a bit of prog-rock indulgence diversion I’d definitely recommend seeing Steve Hackett and band playing ‘Watcher Of the Skies’ (Genesis Revisited: live at the Royal Albert Hall.) Nad Sylvan’s Vocals and performance are standout too.
Saw Santana with Rob Thomas around 2000-ish Live in Walnut Creek amphitheatre in Raleigh North Carolina. Santana sounds waaaay better live because of the exotic drums bongo's etc and many instruments that get drowned out via radio, video etc. that make it so much richer if you are present. It's an experience and I recommend people see them live while they still tour. I recommend the Carlos Santana/Rob Thomas Live Smooth 1999 video on UA-cam

Check out Santana 1969 wood stock footage
I find it hard to believe when all these reaction people say they have never heard of these absolutely iconic musicians.
I love listening to carlos..you see him in person.. watching him and his band..you get soooo hooked. Into his music.. the have a Mexican restaurant in Capitol, ca neat the beach south of Santa cruz..the food is soooooo good
Absolute magician. Making it cry and sing
Guy's played in seven decades, put out over 60 albums, and just keeps going. He is a top tier, trend setting phenom. Sad day when he goes. Genius.
Even Zappa had a tune to tribute his chords.
Giving your flowers now is the best for artist that are older in age. Well said
This and Samba Pa Ti are my absolute favorite Santana songs, just achingly beautiful ;?)
The Woodstock event w/ Santana will give you the beginning. So much energy from the entire group.
Santana was well-known in the San Francisco Bay Area quite a while before Woodstock. But it was Woodstock that gave them a wider audience.
Wars of Armageddon by funka delic sounds like something good o get a massage to
After smoking some herb then right into maggotbrain.
Notice how Carlos controls the sustain, the ebb and flow of the song, the highs and lows. The song is like a book with different chapters. A master.
I was watching Carlos live and during the encore the drummer was becommin visably tired. Carlos went behind the drum kit and touched his back, and it was lightning had struck. The drummer and the whole band had a new energy. That is the spirit that you hear in his guitar.
EK I never saw that / Thank You !!
That performance was highly fueled by an acid trip!! Carlos thought his guitar was a snake for a minute!!! Spectacular performance!!!🎵🎼🎶🎤🎸🎹🥁🎸🎸🔥🔥🤘🤘

Santana himself has said that when you play, your soul comes out in your music. You can see it when he plays, as you've noticed.
Santana make loves to the guitar.
One of the most instantly recognizable of 1970s guitar heroes, certainly a unique player and also a very brave musician.
Carlos does not play Guitar, he makes love to it.
Have seen Santana live a few times, the last one just a couple years ago. Listening to him play is as close to a spiritual experience you can get.
My uncle introduced me to Santana’s music when I was a young teenager and I’ve loved him ever since. Europa is one of his best. Thank you for the reaction.
I saw him in a bar in California in 1970. Played Black Magic Woman for 30 min.😊😊😊😊❤❤❤
How very fortunate. I’m so glad he still performs.
I was twelve year old in 1970 when I heard Santana and Black Magic Woman on the radio. His sound was different and I was drawn to it immediately. Santana is still touring. You must go! Seeing anyone who played at Woodstock is an incredible experience. Go see him!
I was there... One of at least 36 times I have seen this superb band of musicians perofrm live
Carlos has such a distinctive guitar tone, you can see he feels every note. I have been an admirer for years. Maybe listen to "Samba Pa Ti." another instrumental track.
You nailed it. No matter the era or the gear, you can always hear the unique sound that Carlos is chasing.
WELL, I'VE LISTENED TO GUITARING FROM THE 70s AND (I THINK) THAT "CARLOS SANTANA" IS THE BEST I'VE EVER HEARD
Carlos is in a category of his own he blends blues, rock jazz, latino and other international flavors to his music to come up with a different sound.
no one is Hendrix except Hendrix, same with everyone from before and after then, Carlos IS Carlos, No One can play that way, except Carlos. And he has been there and done that, in every way possible
One of the most beautiful songs period ever !’ Performed buy the greatest most magnificent guitarist we will ever know !!!!🎶❤️🙏❤️
This song gives me the chills every time. Hendricks was a fascinating personality but technically speaking cannot compare to Clapton, Santana, Duane Allman, on and on.
You know immediately it his him.
Mesmerizing- Santana is one of the few guitarists that you know immediately it is him.
Classic guitar track with killer musicianship and so much SOUL! A long-term live favourite with fans, of course, and this is a lovely performance!
Carlos Santana is an extraordinary musician!!! The only band at Woodstock that didn't already have an album out!!! That changed immediately overnight!!! The performance was beyond incredible!!🎵🎼🎶🎤🎸🎹🥁🔥🤘🤘
You are so right. He has his own style of playing. It’s recognizable. You should check out his song, Soul Sacrifice performed at Woodstock.

Hope you do more reactions of my favorite artist. A wealth of wonderful music of his to choose from.
Can always get into a dose of Carlos!
His live performance of Europa with Gato Barbieri in 1977 is outstanding; the bassist really goes to town mid way through.
I actually really love the Viva Santana version. The whole band was on fire.
Out of my thousands of well liked tunes this may just be number one
This is the song that hooked me on Santana in the 70's and I have been following him and going to his concerts ever since.
Thanks, PR... That was the year I graduated Highschool! Now THAT'S what REAL MUSIC IS!!!
You'd be doing yourself a favor, by checking out some more of his work!!! (The man's a "Force of Nature"; for cryin' out loud!!!)
Phenomenal guitarist- and I appreciated your review.
Best sustain ever. 🎸
I saw him in a 3200 seat theater in the early 80’s … The man could put more style, heart, soul & talent in one held note,
You are very lucky!
IF you liked this check out this version, "Santana & Gato Barbieri "Europa" (live, 1977)" Gato's sax brings it to an entirely different level.
Ooh, another awesome rabbit hole👏❤️🎼🎼 Check out George Benson and of course one of my favourites, BB King. They both become the music like Carlos Santana. Enjoy
1969 !! Was the first concert I ever went too. And it was Santana and a few bowls of Hashish... Awesome, awesome concert.
There were so many great guitarists around at the same time it led to many into the early hours discussions usually ended by the sun coming up and no conclusion.
I don't know why, but that song always makes me cry. It reminds me of leaving someone you love.
A guitar savant! A master!
Truly amazing; Europa (believe it was originally written by Carlos Santana), when played/recorded on by Gato Barbieri!, is my absolute favorite song!!
Absolutely on of the best guitar player ever.
I'll never forget the time I bumped into Carlos in the streets of San Francisco, he looked at me, held up the peace sign and simply said "Love & Light My Brother".. It was surreal to say the least
You should watch his performance of Soul Sacrifice at Woodstock. . AMAZING! I have probably watched it 100 times.
My hero
He plays that thing so f*ing good it sounds like he's singing.. Yowzaaa!!!
Excellent sustain on those notes. Great overdrive. Memorable.
Carlos is a legend 🙌

Good performance. Black magic woman, Samba Pa Ti and Soul Sacrifice (the Woodstock version) are maybe the most iconic pieces from Santana

WOW!! Thank you for this. I haven’t heard Santana in many many years. I really enjoyed this.
Polo, you have to react to Santana’s song Transcendence (make sure it’s the studio version). I really think you will enjoy it.
I haven't heard this version before - heck yeah!
No words needed what a masterpiece
you need to watch santana at his roots..."soul sacrifice" at woodstock. amazing! he plays with the most emotion and expertise! you can always tell if you are listening to him.

Hi Polo, as others have commented, watch the live Woodstock performance. You will see a man become a part of his instrument. It’s amazing. Cheers.

One of Santana's finest - genius.
This always gives me goosebumps.

PLEASE listen to Soul Sacrifice live at Woodstock 1969. Absolutely mind blowing, raw, heavy, exciting. And most of them were off their heads.
