I flew the Qf136 from CHC to SYD last Friday. The flight experience was mixed.
Ups: I still liked the food that was served on the flight (Chicken with potatoes and beans). I still got enough rest during the flight to Sydney.
Downs: the entertainment system was quite disappointing where they got rid of the music section and did not have enough choices. Some of the choices you have to download the QF Entertainment app. As well, i asked the flight attendant whether they have wifi and he said that unfortunately they don’t have any wifi on the Trans Tasman flight. Instead, the wifi is used on Domestic Flights.

Keep in mind the B738's start to get replaced with the Brand New A321 XLR's in a couple of months time.
I believe it will be Domestic Flights first, then short haul international (unless they change their policies, they will not have IFE systems, everything will be streamed to your device).
Regarding WiFi, that is across the Domestic network only currently, the rollout for international services was meant to be this year, but I believe it is more like early 2025 as they were waiting for additional satellite coverage under the ViaSat network (for some South Pacific flights, & flights to North & South America). From articles published, it doesn't look like the initial WiFi rollout will include New Zealand.

What a coincidence... I noticed on that flight at least a dozen passengers who were on the same flight over to Christchurch from Sydney on the Friday a couple of days prior.
I guess when it is quicker to go to NZ than Perth or Darwin, it makes it an ideal weekend away.

New to your channel, a great trip report thank you! Unfortunately, the previous QF CEO cut back everywhere, including catering. You would have received a lot more food on the code share flight with EK. Hope the new CEO brings back QF to the might days of the past

Catering has pretty much been the same since 2018 when DNata (Emirates) acquired Qantas Catering. Having flown several flights recently on EK, the food is no better (or worse). Talking to someone who was on the later EK flight from CHC to SYD the same day, they had similar choices, only thing extra they had was a bread roll, and cheese & crackers (which was available on the QF flight by request). For a 3hr flight the food was adequate, and the service from the crew excellent, as usual.
