- Dirk's Draft and full press conference with Steve Nash as Mavs GM, Don Nelson executes a draft day masterclass, acquiring two future MVPs on the same day! Relive Dirk's selection as the 9th pick in the 1998 NBA Draft by Milwaukee and his introductory press conference with Steve Nash. Would Dirk play for the Mavs or go to Europe? We know how it ended, but at the time this was a risky draft day move from the Dallas Mavericks.

Twenty-one years later, he’s one of the best players of all time. Same with Nash being one of the greatest point guards too.
Dirk is the most disrespected players of all time, he couldve left and formed a team but he stayed loyal to Dallad
@@yom0mma214 yeah, unlike LeFlop that forms super teams so he can be “the greatest nba player of all time” LOL
@@Devourur bit weird
Dirk is so shy in this interview that you might think, he will choose to stay in Germany. Well, now we know he didn’t. Unbelievable to see the player he would become!

Man, if I could go back in time and re-live Dirk's entire career! What a hell of a ride!
Congrats Dirk for making it to the Class of 2023 Hall of Fame 🙌
Don Nelson was the only one that saw that. Wanted to draft Dirk at 6…owner says no…Nelson gets creative and steals TWO Hall of Famers in an hour. Statue of Don Nelson goes up!
No joke
I recall Nelson doing a quick interview that day with the commentators for the draft, telling them Dirk would be a HOF.
Man the anxiety of not knowing whether Dirk would choose to stay or go back overseas and now knowing him he turned out to be the most Loyal athlete The City of Dallas has ever known!
Hubie Brown is fantastic he’s commentating and breakdown of players in place is second to none
Came in the league and left his mark! Dirk the legend !
Imagine if both Nowitzki and Nash were able to stay together... they could have at least won 3 championships together.
No, Nash couldnt defend and his cost was high. We got Kidd, JJ, JETT for less.
Replace Nash with Kidd then absolutely. But those Lakers and Spurs teams were tough.
Wait so Nash got drafted in 96? Played 2 years and got traded to Dallas?
Yuppp and his first two years in Dallas seems like they weren’t anything memorable if u look at the numbers which is crazy
This guy actually carried Dallas to the championship
Hubie has looked like a very old man for over half a century. Bless him.
Imagine if he stayed in Germany 😳🤯
Dirk🏀💪🏼💪🏼
Dirk drinkin a can ah sprite😂
Wow two HOFers in one draft, way to go Nellie
They weren't in the same draft
Love seeing some of those NIKE game highlights against the pros. I think it’s the exhibition game that Barkley has referenced before. In the two clips I saw Reggie Miller and Dirk’s future championship teammate Jason Kidd. 😀
and the rest is history for dirk..he got 2011 championship ring
Detlef Schrempf was indeed a volkswagen compared to Dirk.
If Don Nelson isn’t in the Mavs organization then I don’t think Dirk would’ve come over right away. Of course, if Don isn’t on Mavs then they probably don’t trade for him either.
Dallas was on the map after that picks.
Crazy because everyone now is rocking the same hair Dirk was then lol
He looks like nick carter here
"Dirty Dirk put in his work" 😁
Herzberg 😂😂Würzburg!!!!
Hubie is old since 98 lol
Nick carter
No that’s Ernieee
is no one gonna talk about the 90's dirk is so handsome
These teams should know to never trade during a draft XD
Он просто пушка ✊🏼
He’s just a cannon?
When the Dallas Mavericks still were a cheap organization and horrible run franchise in the 90's. Less than 2 years after the Triple J's were supposed to change the franchise.
