That one ring Dirk has is priceless. He could have done it the easy way by leaving Dallas, joining Kobe with LA, or by joining any other superstar to form their own super team but no. He did it his way, and got that sweet 2011 team over the super team of the Heat. He may not have as much rings as the other greats, but that 2011 ring is more than enough to make him a top 10 NBA player of this era.

Dirk's one-legged fadeaway is the second most iconic and unstoppable shot in NBA history (next to Kareem's skyhook), he is the second greatest power forward of all time, a top twenty player of all-time, and his 2011 championship will always be one of the most difficult and celebrated titles in NBA history.

Dirk was one of the most athletic 7 footers the nba has seen when he came into the league. But KP Is just different because he is the tallest guy in the league so u cant really compare.

    • @johncasino4399
      @johncasino4399 6 років тому +13

KP jumps higher, but in terms of mobility, Dirk is faster. That’s how Dirk scores against his competitions when his post up game was not yet polished, he blows by you then shoots or he just goes straight to the basket.

How so? KG was the WAY better defender, much better rebounder and better passer. Dirk was just a better scorer. That's it.

      That's just not true.
KG and Dirk head to head:
      *Garnett* :
      17-20 W/L
      21.8ppg on 51.9FG%
      11.5rpg
      4.3apg
      2.5TOVs
      1.2bpg
      1.2spg
      *Dirk* :
      20-17 W/L
      23.1ppg on 46.7FG% (40% 3pt)
      8.2rpg
      2.1apg
      1.7TOVs
      0.8bpg
      0.6spg
Not to mention Dirk also had the better teams overall in their matchups. So how on earth is that Dirk "owning KG everytime they play"? You just thought nobody would call you on that?

This man could pull up anywhere on the court and make it happen. Didn’t matter where he was. Top of the key, in the paint, mid-range, at the FT line. He was never going to win style points or dunk contest, but that’s not what he was about. He was effective. Just a pure ball player and it was a pleasure getting to grow up watching him.

Dirk has been such a good player for so long, we can't forget him. He might be going away this year. It might be his last 14 games so appreciate him. Because when he is gone, I don't think there would be anyone else who would be as great as he was for the Mavs. He was the only star in that 2011 championship.

#30 would have been one of the all time great shots in NBA Finals history if the refs didn't give Dwayne Wade two free throws to win the game.
If the Mavs win Game 5 they probably win the title in 2006.

Players will never understand how confidence inspiring Dirk Nowitzki is. There is never a chance when he gets the ball, does a few spins, and fades away with his knee in your face that you question if it will go in. You feel that it will never miss. That Dirk is just too good. His movements are so fluid that you never know if its humanly possible to contort your body at such a steep angle and rainbow all the shots in - just like he does with ease.
Dirk's statue will be iconic, and his style and work ethic will be missed by all these younger players.
