Maybe a stupid question but.. Why are there sparks coming out of the exhaust? Isn't that usually a sign of a messed up catalytic converter? Since this car doesn't have one, I was just wondering
Not necessarily the cat, sometimes it's the pistons or valves shattering themselves. Would be the rotor melting here.
I would say that is carbon from the premix oil used to lubricate the rotors and rotor housing
Common to see sparks like that on two strokes wich also burn oil like a rotary
Its like with a 2 stroke engine, they shoot sparks out the exhaust typically theres a spark arrestor in 2 strokes but since this engine is completely straightpiped the sparks just fly. Also carbon buildup in the exhaust side of the turbo burns off and makes sparks. And yes, rotary engines are 4 stroke but 2 stroke at the same time. Theyre really a 3 stroke engine in my mind but tbh thats my opinion. A rotary is a rotary stroke engine.
