YASSS QUEEN!!:DDDD
I’m just here ✨vibing✨ so hi
I haven't drawn in years but I remember being 15 and trying to draw my first ever portrait, and my dad had watched me get frustrated and keep starting over.
He finally walked up and said
"Honey, when you're drawing something realistic, it's never gonna look right until you're adding the last touches. Keep going, it will come together"
The portrait came out great, glad he said something too, because I was almost in tears because I was getting so frustrated.
Your dad sie an awesome hero!
I’m just now getting back into drawing, I quit years ago because I didn’t have anyone to tell me that; it turns out I’m actually pretty solid, I just needed to go back to the basics and stay patient/consistent. The world needs more fathers like yours ☺️
Hey, that happens to me all the time and to all artists really
This made me smile 😊
What an awesome story to share, your dad def gave you great advice
My mother is an artist herself and my family is very familiar with the process of art because my great grandfather was apparently really good at it, so whenever I draw infront of them they never comment on my drawings until they are finished, I feel so lucky😄
good for you child
@@Scary_Snail129 haha yay!!!

@Nicole Choudhury oh no....I'm sorry, I hope you show her the finished product though !
I feel like I’m the only person here who kinda likes it when somebody looks at my unfinished art. Like obviously not watching me like a hawk, but sometimes I might draw the anatomy slightly wonky, or the proportions look incorrect and I won’t notice until I’ve finished it, but a different person’s perspective can be really beneficial for that, y’know?
"It's missing one eye"

“Oh no no no it’s not like that, I’m just drawing a cyclops”
Is what I would’ve said but I can’t say that to a 10 year old who can’t take jokes lol
(IM NOT SAYING THAT ALL 10 YEAR OLDS ARE BAD)
Fr like i have some one eyed oc and they will act like im drawing a whole realistic human because im “an artist “
Absolutely 100% true. Exactly why artist say "I don't want to show you. It's not done." In a panic. It's a process.

Isn't funny how people think you can pick up any pencil or pen and draw life like portraits on the spot. Crazy.
Trueeee
Yup. And said process is not always pretty
“Why are they sad... Are you sad?”
Like, madam, sadness is an emotion that exist and i just happen to be studying the expression
This was unrelated to the video, but this comment section semed like a safe space for me to complain :)
Ughhhh yeah. Like just because I’m drawing a character crying doesn’t mean I’m suddenly depressed! How am I supposed to learn how they scrunch up their eyebrows and shit if I don’t, y’know DRAW IT?
Or when I drew a couple of gays for the first and only time in my life cuz I thought it was cute. "OMG are you gay?" Lmao people are so dumb sometimes
LOL HONESTLY. I draw mostly gore and more-- non-child friendly art. They take one look and ask me if I'm mentally okay / su*c*dal. I just look at them like "no. I just.. like drawing gore.."
I think my family thought I was slowly turning insane when I first started drawing it. I was 8 or 9 when I first started gore drawings. They really started questioning my mental health and I sat there like "nah man Im good"
Next they're going to tell the director of a violent movie that they're a murderer like come on. That isn't how it works.
"What's that?"
"I'm drawing a person"
"Where's its body?"
Me: *has drawn one line*
"It's hidden inside the paper"
"Okay I like it Picasso.. "
As someone who draws people around me, I agree. One day, I started drawing my mom. After an hour and half, it was still unfinished but I had already drawn the face and features, I just needed to shape it more, add more shadows to do realistic features, color the pupils that I left white ( I draw only using the black crayon I don't color the drawings ), and I needed to draw the hair. At this point the picture looked kinda scary, especially with the while pupils and the smile with uncolored white lips and teeth. At this moment my brother stole the unfinished drawing and had the bright idea to show it off to the family reunion 🤦🏽♂️ everybody told me that I shall go on UA-cam to learn how to draw properly ( they weren't as rude as it may sound like that, more like somebody trying to give advice in a sarcastic way ) but my mom laughed kindly and told me to keep up until I create a masterpiece because she believed in me.
After 2 hours I finished the thing, it was so realistic it ended up being hanged in one of the walls.
Haha that’s a funny story, hope you are doing great on your art journey. That’s cool. :)
Nice to know your mum supported u :D

@@astralminstrel I would hope so! Thanks for your reply :)

True! I almost felt a little bad though when I was painting a mural on this one tunnel in my old town and I hadn’t sketched in the clothes yet. 😅 So there was basically a naked girl on the side of the wall for about a week.
People are like, “Who is that?” A character I made up. “Aren’t you going to color it?” Nooooooo I’m going to leave it as a sketch. “What’s their name?” I don’t know. The amount of scenarios I could come up with goes on and on.

My mom always asks me what the names of the people in my drawings are and every time I have to explain I just came up with them randomly they aren’t actual people
It's so impressive that people can just draw on a whim. I find I'm always stuck on the idea phase, and get frustrated with the execution. Kinda wish I could just sit down and draw for drawing's sake

You could respond with, "No, someone broke into my house in the middle of the night and left that. "
I’m also an artist and I LOVE when people see my work halfway through even if it looks crazy. It usually means they’re interested in what the final product is gonna be and oftentimes the steps to get there can be confusing. I use them as teaching examples to people instead of saying “oh don’t look it’s bad right now” I remind people (and often myself) “art is about the expression and journey you take, the joy of creation. Even if the process looks messy, anything can be made artful”
It’s all about patience and achieving that zen feeling and just kinda letting things flow. They’ll work out… art always does
I love your way of thinking!
Love this! I love to show people my artistic process as well! I tend to post WIP pictures of my portraits on Instagram, and explain how teeth look UGLY before they're shaded, or how eyes look soulless and terrifying without the highlights and darks. All art is beautiful, and so is the journey to the finished piece!
Glad I found your comment
So wholesome.. Agreed
Yeah same here I love when people view my art or if they would ask me to draw them something like yes! The main reason I paint and draw is to put it out into the world and if someone cared enough to carry it with them I'm even more touched
"LMAO why is the face like that? the neck looks kinda weird" when i just finished drawing the guide lines. like shut up karen its not finished-
Honestly, I like seeing that part of an artistic process. People think everything looks perfect the first time and don't realize what goes into making art.

See but I lover seeing art in that really scuffed, half-built phase. It's like looking over the bare bones of what will one day be a magnificent structure, the simple yet strong foundation for finer details to emerge. I find the process fascinating.

My dad would always sneak pictures of my unfinished drawing while I was drawing them and post it on social media. It bugged the crap out of me and made me very upset and almost panicky. I asked him to stop but I'm not sure he took it to heart. I didn't want those drawings to represent me as an artist. Plus I do not post my art under my real name, I prefer to use an alias/persona. He posted it saying my name and age and I was scared that he just ruined my future career. Maybe I'm over thinking this whole thing but still, the issue was important to me. I know he was just proud of me and wanted to show me to the world but still..
Maybe sit down with your dad and discuss your concerns about online privacy and art theft? I'm sure he'll understand when you explain that your in-progress art is not what you want to represent yourself and that you are trying to protect your identity online.
@@galeg4021 he hasnt done it for months, and even if I said something...he would probably roll his eyes. Thank you for the advice! I appreciate your concern.

You need to school your papa right now, I am scared for real
Yeah this is over thinking.
In fact no one cares about who does their art, relax about it. But if you are inconfident with yourself or feel more safe being anonymous you can sit down and talk with him, explain that this are unfinished drawings and the whole things, he will understand. The most important is that your dad is proud of you and if you need something he will be supportive.
When you just want to relax and draw, but people gather around to look* smile and awkwardly try to walk away*

Absolutely right. I do pastel portraits and have taught my 8 yr old granddaughter since was 2. She’s pretty damn good but she refuses to let anyone see her work till it’s done. Even me!
i always watch the speedpaints of digital and traditional artists who i admire and damn, not even halfway through i'll think "this looks like it could use a lot of work" and boom, exactly. the end result is mindblowing. never sure how they can somehow draw the strokes just right, or match the colors so perfectly, but i know it takes lots and lots of practice. keep persevering.

i appreciate the unfinished stuff a lot more. after finishing a piece, i always reminisce about the struggles of having to push through the multiple ugly phases.
even i doubt myself halfway through lol but the best lesson to be learned as always is “trust the process”
I ver asked "what are you drawing?" when I only drew a circle
and once when I only drew a circle and a nose SomEonE asked me "why is he bald?" 😭😭 Come ON
"Can't make bald people? Are you bald-phobic?"
*me drawing a random person that doesn’t exist*
“Who are you drawing?”
*stares intensely*
Once I was drawing a male and my relative looked at my drawing and asked me who that is and gave me the "😏" look like he's my boyfriend or something
This is me w everything I make, especially pipe cleaner art like I start off with 5 connected pipe cleaners, and show it to someone and they doubt I can make anything and half an hour later I make stuff they didn't know was possible to make lol
Literally, my fiancé drew me a masterpiece for my birthday and he kept sending me the photos of the planning papers and I was so confused on what he was planning to draw but when I got it, I fell in love and def didnt almost cry
Whenever I’m drawing people go “is thst whst your drawing?”
Like for example I’m drawing a tree and they go “are you drawing a tree?”
Me: “yea, unless your colour blind and it looks like a broccoli”
Savage
Unless you're that bad and what you did end up drawing was a broccoli /jks 🤣
It was there. Don't judge me!
Me when I watch my friends draw, I just enjoy the process and the end product is amazing.

And the worst when your drawing a female character and someone walks in while it’s in the NAKED PHASE-
This is exactly what happens to me 😭😂
Samee 😭🤚
Same here
No no, please come up and look at the art! I've had people come up to me when I'm sketching in public often, and most of the time it is pleasant - always great to show your art, even when unfinished.
I see you're a more confident artist, that's cool!
“wHo iS tHaT?”
Some scenarios that happen more often then u think person: EWWWW why does ur drawing look like that me: it’s just the guidelines Person: who is that? Me: it’s not a person it’s my character the same person: so did u find the person online me: I created them? Cuz they my original character? Person: that’s not good cuz it’s not realistic me: uhm my style is semi-realism so it’s not supposed to be 100 percent realistic Same person: But why isn’t it realistic art is supposed to be realistic me: no.
They'll paint with your blood if you do.
The “no no no it’s not like that...” is far too relatable.
Amazing art and you are speaking facts rn
That end result looks amazing. Btw, huge fan of these shorts. The art tutorials really helped me
As a young artist who already knows how to draw realism I relate
This happens to me so manyyy times!! My siblings just come and start giving me the tips to make my art and that painting better and I'm like already know that now lemme just complete it first wth🤷

If it's siblings I tell them to get lost, I'm working. I wouldn't come up behind them on the computer and critique what they're writing.
I love to show my students all the stages of my art. I want them to see that there is a lot of adjusting and correcting in between. I want them to know that art isn't impossible.
