DST Mega Base Ideas - Volt Goat Farm

- Welcome back to another long video guide for DST. Covering a requested topic in my live streams about Volt goat farms and how to do them automatically. Now this farm focuses on gaining Volt Goat Horns for drops. If you're after the goat's milk, you still need to do that manually with a morning star/goat jelly/etc.
If you have any questions leave them in the comments down below and thank you for checking out this video (and any others!).

I want to clarify something about this idea that I apparently forgot to mention in the video. This is not my own design, I've seen this done on multiple twitch streams and there are several other UA-cam DST creators who have this same design. Just wanted to make sure that was crystal clear to anyone as I am not trying to claim this as my own.
I believe the original idea dates back to this video, so if any credit is given here it is: ua-cam.com/video/xAtcFVhD8VQ/v-deo.html
This really helps me a lot for my world. You're basically at the top of the list for an automatic volt goat farm video because you gave credit.
Just want to say this guide was supper easier to understand. I know it's a old Video. But I wanted a even easier way to get food, I was able to do this on the console version, It just took forever to do it with 9 goats. Thanks for the Video man.
Did it work with 9 goat's
@@justinsutton8801 Hey, It does work with how many goats you want. I did copy this video and ended up having 10 goats trapped next to my base and every so often I just walk by it and collect the goats items I think you need to be off-screen for them to respawn. But it does work.
it's a good idea to burn the rot before using the lazy forager, so you save a bunch of uses. It's ok as long as you use non flammable walls, like in the video
I'd actually not thought about burning the rot tbh. But in my current mega base I play on stream I have gift wraps full of lazy foragers so I'm not terribly worried about over using the amulet.
@@Griver84 the good old luxury life xD
recharge it with nightmare fuel, ez to farm
So as long as the caged off goat stays alive if the one being attacked by the anenamy dies another one will respond there?
Question: So when the goat in the anenemy trap dies, another goat respawns in that exact place and the process continues? Im confused on how exactly the respawn mechanic works…
The new goat will respawn in the place where the last goat died
Very nice video! I found it, electrifying ;)
Sorry I know this is an older video, I have two Herds.. If use one herd for the farm and move the 2nd herd to be around that pen will the herd merge? essentially making a goat habitat but also have the functioning farm in the same area (on Xbox if that changes things)
4:25 that's why my first attempt didn't work! Thanks a lot
Couldn't you just teleport the safety goat to the archipelago? No walls needed. (Or was that in the video and I missed?)
That is an option as well. But if you have several heards that you're teleporting a goat for safekeeping, then walling them off from one another will prevent any unnecessary bloodshed.
There's several islands in the archipelago, usually at least 5?
IDK if I'd need more herds than that.
Why did my herd not respawn inside the anemy trap instead it spawned outside of the walls and not ontop of the anenemy, it looked like it was trying to run back to a herd point if that is the case how do I make my herd change its herd point
You have to push the goat while its asleep very slowly. That will gradually move the spawn point of the heard to your anenemy pen. Let me know if you still have issues.
Oh alright ty ty ill try it sometime today but it might be tm👍
Which action reborn mod are you using? Can i also do that with planting trees?
Its the ActionQueue RB2 (RWYS supported) mod. You can find it here:

@@Griver84 thank you!
What was the highlighting thing you did when placing the walls? Is it a mod?
that was probably action queue
Awesome inclusion for console players. Having none of the client mods on console does make it so cumbersome to do any task. I hope they can release mod packs for free someway. Is it possible to make the walls end tables instead? Or would the space in between the end tables be too wide thus letting the goats escape?
You could make them end tables I suppose? I've never tried it tbh. Not to mention End tables are way more expensive than just a singluar stone wall.
Does it work with multiple goats or just 1 per herd
Does this still work? An how do I know that the goats will spawn at the farm part not somewhere else?
Sorry for the late reply here. But yes this method still works with the current build of DST. I haven't seen anything to the contrary that it's broken.
As for the spawning, if you've done it just like in the video the goats will spawn in the automatic part of the pen and die to the trap rather than anywhere else.
If you have any troubles with it feel free to reply again!
What mod did you use to build a wall by drawing a line like that?
Action Queue Reborn2
Steam Link: steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2325441848
Whats the name of the mod you use to automatic put walls?
Probably Action Queue Reborn or Action Queue Reborn 2
You would be correct. It's the Action Queue Reborn 2 mod
I can't push it while sleep or freeze now
one question. why the new goats respawning in the exacly same spot where is the anenemy? why not around it sometimes?
The goats respawn in the same spot because that's the square or tile that I've moved the herd into. Sometimes it might take you a couple of tries to get them to respawn in the same spot. But once you get it, they will always show up in that same tile with the anenemy.
Do I need to stay away from the goat? how far should i stay
Usually I put my goat farm a few screens away, generally in another biome (the desert they're found in for example) from my base. Then just run over and collect the loot when I think of it or the server starts to slow down. :)
is there any problem if I surround the telelocator (the security goat) with statues?
No
is is still working ?
is it posible to move the second goat without the telelocator? even if it takes time
In theory I believe you could chase a singular goat off into another pen without teleporting it. But I would do that first to make sure that the original heard doesn't move when you do that.
Can i replace the walls and use statues ?
You could use statues but from my experience statues load in after mobs do when visiting an area on the map. So you run the risk of a goat getting loose. Plus walls are faster to put up than statues.
i cant move or push goat, why?
It's not that a lazy forager is hard to get or anything, but isn't it simpler to use doors?
You could use doors but in the amount of time that you need to pick up all the loot inside you will probably be attacked by the anemone a couple of times. That's why I use the Lazy Forager method.
can i trap multiple goats?
Yes you can trap a goat from each herd you have in order to farm them all. I'd recommend trapping one goat per teleport area. That way they don't get agressive with one another when they're charged up.
does this still work at all? Or is it not?
It still works. :)
@Griver84 thank you very much! Keep up the good work and please make more farm videos for us!
very expensive walls when you could just use statues..
I play on console and can't seem to push mobs. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? My friend can push em no problem.
Sadly I'm not very knowledgeable for console play. Not sure of your sensitivity on the console you're playing on. That's the only thing that comes to mind when you're unable to push mobs.
Turn off lag compensation it makes it easier and thats all you can probably do😅
My volt goat isn't respawning I've waited 10 days
Are you sure there are no other goats roaming around and that your goat you teleported is safe in it's other pen?
All my goats in the farm died dont know what i did wrong
If the goats are not respawning Id double check on your safety goat. It may have teleported and gotten killed by the farm. Other than that I'm not sure what might be happening with yours.
is that a mod that u open the rulette for actions like dance, cry, etc?
It is, the mod is called Gesture Wheel and you can find it here:

@@Griver84 ty c:
How does this work
Is there a specific part of the video you need me to go more detail into? Because the video should explain all the steps/logic to you.
@@Griver84 I’m just wondering how this affects the spawning volt goats
@@papascorch5215 as he moved the spawn location of the goats to the area with the trap all future goats will spawn in the trap. The lone volt goat is trying to go to that area, but as it's still alive and can't return it can't change the spawn location and as the herd is still alive a new goat will respawn
