agreed it feels like they have mixed in the old style of video with the new style of making their videos, plus love the camera man interactions works really well how they bounce of each other.
loved this episode, loved MORE of Jamie, more of DOGS, Jamies little video insert about cow and kangaroo, Alec repairing engraver - one word - awesome!
Jamie really is the voice of the people. Every time I’m worried Alec is going in a direction I would not personally choose/want and Jamie gives his two cents, it’s always on point with what I’m hoping for. More Jamie input please! And thank you again for getting back to a build like this, I feel like it’s Christmas every time you upload a new video again 😬
Please more side quests in videos like in the good old days. Loved seeing the engraver being repaired, also loved the look behind the scenes with the brainstorming.
I think this is one of my favourite Alec videos so far, and that probably because of Jamie being more involved his idea to film the dogs was ingenious we all love cute dogs
These more laid-back videos are so pleasing to watch, just having a bit of banter in between is amazing, and feels like a more natural workspace. Props to you two!
Looks like I'm not alone in appreciating a return to some of the things that made this channel great a few years ago. Please keep making these longer series that provide you both with the opportunity to showcase your personalities and craftsmanship!
I don't normally comment on these, but this one deserve it: This is in my opinion the best episode you have ever made. The indian-themed grinding part, the banter, the side-track, the dogs... Just awesome
Honestly, this is exactly what I subbed for. The side project of getting the tools working, the thinking out loud with the dogs on screen, everything about this episode is the kind of thing you don't do often anymore, but it's exactly the stuff I enjoy watching!
Cheers to Jamie for taking over directing on this one. Between the scientific sidebar, solving the problem of tracing both sides, focusing on the dogs, getting Alec to fix the engraver, and helping decide on the shaping, he's the true champ here.
Jamie, what you calculated was the pressure under the hoofs of a cow in pounds-per-square-inch. The google result was the force behind a kangaroo punch. So they are only the same pressure if the kangaroo has a 1-square-inch fist. The force under a cows hooves would be its weigh (in pounds) divided by 4 (given that it distributed its weigh evenly.
I love these old style alec steele videos!! I used to watch the old videos religiously, when they dropped, but over the years have lost the excitement...this has renewed my love for your channel!
I love the out-loud strategizing by Alec- being able to watch the creative process at work is really valuable to me as a viewer. But putting that as the soundtrack to petting the dogs was a very clever and enjoyable little curveball. Hats off to you for that one!
Wellllll!!!! GOOD job on cleaning your tools! 🤣🤣 The cool thing about fixing things are that they are goals with immediate results and adding small victories upon victories. It's encouraging
Great vid I like to think that when you rewatched your old content you wrote some things down cause this feels like a well and true Alec Steele adventure
I would like to see you make a karambit, not like those you see in games but like an Indonesian one they used in martial arts in ancient days, it's very different from the modern ones, and I think looks a bit better. And of course add an "Alec Steele" touch to it.
I've thought it a ton of times, but I've gotta say it at least once. I *wish* we had a grinding room like that at work. We just kinda grind stuff wherever the vices are or wherever the piece is if it's heavy. Grinding dust EVERYWHERE.
I loved the doggo segment. It's like seeing Mrs Steele's view while Alec is going on about something at home that he finds very interesting and she just doesn't. haha
Really cool project so far! I would probably make a slot through the bolster and then weld the blade to the backside of the bolster and then grind away any visible weld. Either insert it only partially or bevel both ends properly so you have enough material joining them together after cleaning up the weld. Doing it this way would probably be stronger than using a bunch of small rivets. If you are not going to use steel for the bolster (say you would use bronze or brass), then you can do the same thing but bronze or brass braze the blade into the bolster to match the color of the materials!
The more you watch, the more you realize Jamie’s has the vision (as he should as he has the creativeness for editing) and Alec is just the execution of it all.
Petition to have Alec voiceovers and doggo breaks every episode, also love the back and forth banter you both had this episode. Good change of pace boys - well done.
Loved this video, I felt like part of the team rather than watching you make something, just like in the old days of figuring it out as you go along! :D
Hey Alex! Don't know if you'll read this but I've been following you for a few year, and you gave me the motivation to do my life long dream of being a knife maker and I've finally made it, thanks a lot for the motivation, seeing you getting better and better with every video it's great to see, continue the hard work pal !
I was like: „yeah I can listen to alec while looking at dogs no problem…“ My Brain: „uhhhhhhh who is a gooood doggo!!! 🥰🥹 such cute doggooosss!!! Yeeees pet those cute heads!!! Omg a toy!“ So yeah i totally agree with what ever alec said!
When you guys were scaring each other...then Alec walking around appearing to talk to himself while Jamie filmed the dogs was HILARIOUS!!!! You had me laughing so much I was in tears!! Love this channel!!
I absolutely love this video. It’s bringing back some of the old video style with random tangents and side projects and I love Jaime and bringing in the dogs while ur talking in the background. Only thing it’s missing is the blue dichom song haha
What you also can do for extra strength is drill holes trough the underside of the gaurd place the blade in the groove you mentioned and then plugweld it maybe?
So glad to see you back to the real projects like you started with. I personally love these multiple episode series FAR MORE than watching you make paper airplanes and the like!
Regarding the tang, I'd suggest splitting it in the centre and drawing out two tangs that attach to the parallel bars of the hilt. It's not traditional and it'll probably be rather difficult but I can't think of anything that would be even close to as robust.
i love that i can say alex is the only youtube that im so in tune on when his videos' come out that every one of the videos for this series i have seen all 2 hours after they came out XD
I don’t know if you’ve heard Alex nor if you’ll see this but established Titels is shady I don’t recommend working with them. I highly advise doing some research but that’s all I can do you have full right to not listen to a word of this but on a more cheery note love seeing those little skirted in videos again, thanks !
epic cinematography, it just keeps getting better. i do want to say though, the punch force for a kangaroo was in pounds, so if you want to compare to a cow youd also want pounds (psi was used in the vid), and it would just be a quarter of its weight
I loved the scratching-the-dogs interlude while Alec is just thinking out loud. 😂
Jamie knows what the people want.
agreed it feels like they have mixed in the old style of video with the new style of making their videos, plus love the camera man interactions works really well how they bounce of each other.
@@dylanmael3369 It's like the old days with Will... gotta have a side kick to complete show.
He love red now 7:47
I realise the need to script lots of UA-cam vids, but that segment sounded off the cuff, fascinating thinking, dogs, and was very funny.
loved this episode, loved MORE of Jamie, more of DOGS, Jamies little video insert about cow and kangaroo, Alec repairing engraver - one word - awesome!
You two are such a good pair! Jamie pushes you when you need that little nudge in the right direction.
miss will
@@hayesbrown1021 me too man. But Jamie seems like the ying in Alec's yang.
Jamie is also basically the brains of the operations while Alec is the heart.

I love how much Jamie was both trolling but helping. I laughed so hard at the dogs part.
Love that Jamie add in, doin some weird maths, genius!
FYI - Alec, you might want to look into Established Titles. There’s been some controversy to do with them. Just thought you ought to know.
LegalEagle just did a good video on them. Smells pretty scammy yes
I don't recall Alec starting a series on making a pattern-welded trowel... :D
Awseome video! I missed the multi segment adventures in bladesmithing! Cheers Alec and Jamie!
Honestly, this is exactly what I subbed for. The side project of getting the tools working, the thinking out loud with the dogs on screen, everything about this episode is the kind of thing you don't do often anymore, but it's exactly the stuff I enjoy watching!
Jamie is so great.
He's both funny, clever and also regularly saves the day with his suggestions!
What a team!
P.S not a Jamie alt acc! Lmao.
Whatever you say Jamie! Just keep including random dog intermissions and make sure you keep Alec on track, m'kay?
Cheers to Jamie for taking over directing on this one. Between the scientific sidebar, solving the problem of tracing both sides, focusing on the dogs, getting Alec to fix the engraver, and helping decide on the shaping, he's the true champ here.
Jamie was very helpful and sassy today. Loved it.

I really like that you went back to more of your roots with the videos, doesn't feel rushed anymore
Jamie adds so much to this channel
I love how much Jamie has been involved; there back and forth is lovely
actually really enjoy the slowed down pacing and some of jamie's input, feels more like the content i watched back in the day
Wellllll!!!! GOOD job on cleaning your tools! 🤣🤣

I like how much Jamie is part of the videos, he definitely adds to it

I needed to see the pups today. Thanks for including them in the video. They’re adorable.
Puppers are the best.
Oh, great project. Thanks for showing the thought process for doing the patterns and adjusting.
I've thought it a ton of times, but I've gotta say it at least once. I *wish* we had a grinding room like that at work. We just kinda grind stuff wherever the vices are or wherever the piece is if it's heavy. Grinding dust EVERYWHERE.

Lovely to have you back! Just check if you need lubrication in the area where you cleaned, especially if you used solvents

I loved seeing the dogs while Alec looses and slowly collects more of his marbles
"Loses and slowly collects his marbles" lmao what a beautiful way to say that
The Alec rant while playing with the dogs was my favourite bit
The more you watch, the more you realize Jamie’s has the vision (as he should as he has the creativeness for editing) and Alec is just the execution of it all.
Been watching for over five years now! So cool to see how much you two have become collaborators and friends.
You know what, I'm really starting to thoroughly enjoy this new style/approach to the videos. It's like, I get it now, and I like it. 👍🏻
11:50 was the best part of the video. more of that please.
I loved the side track you took and showed us just a little bit more of a real shop experience
Petition to have Alec voiceovers and doggo breaks every episode, also love the back and forth banter you both had this episode. Good change of pace boys - well done.
Ah yes, 'tis the season for Established Titles sponsorships on all my favourite YT channels!
Excellent vid and work as always Alec 😁
yeah, i'm seeing that too. its the holiday season. they want people to gift these titles to their families lol
Ever since the video where you rewatched old content , ive noticed a little more of the Alec energy PLUS the modern Jamie editing. Really good :)
Love the music you pick for the video in the beginning
Loved this video, I felt like part of the team rather than watching you make something, just like in the old days of figuring it out as you go along! :D

Jamie - A video on how you edit and add music would be fantastic 👌. You're the best in the biz. Thanks!
There's an old livestream on my channel from a few years back! Cheers for the kind words
Alec .
Your style is exactly like Hollywood movies
I like seeing you tackle something your passionate for. Like a 2 part, 3 part, piece like the old Viking sword. Keep up the fine work!
Man Jamie is the best foil to Alec. Good work both of you.
13:20 thankfully Jamie doesn't scare you when you're grinding!
When you guys were scaring each other...then Alec walking around appearing to talk to himself while Jamie filmed the dogs was HILARIOUS!!!! You had me laughing so much I was in tears!! Love this channel!!
This video is awesome. It shows an aspect of the design process you don't usually see. There is a lot more than work that goes into forging.
I absolutely love this video. It’s bringing back some of the old video style with random tangents and side projects and I love Jaime and bringing in the dogs while ur talking in the background. Only thing it’s missing is the blue dichom song haha
the parallel of alec freaking out overthinking and jaime just petting the dogs is everything haha
Alec, Happy Birthday for yesterday.
Thanks Jamie!

Thumbs up for the Dog Interlude while Alex rambled on in the background !
Jamie, you are a proper Legend! Thank you for being who you are.
Regarding the tang, I'd suggest splitting it in the centre and drawing out two tangs that attach to the parallel bars of the hilt. It's not traditional and it'll probably be rather difficult but I can't think of anything that would be even close to as robust.
Finally a decent amount of doogo-footage!
I like it.
Take care guy!
gotta pad the videos in every way to get more episodes out of a short series
I loved this, glad to see your builds coming back
Jamie is a treasure. I love when he participates!
The shooting and editing is really on point!
This episode really had an old school Alec Steele video vibe to it, and I am here for it
i love that i can say alex is the only youtube that im so in tune on when his videos' come out that every one of the videos for this series i have seen all 2 hours after they came out XD
Inside the paper file, was actually a very smart way to visualize and compare both sides, I am not sure Jamie knew how smart he was being.
Not sure if i watch more for the blacksmithing/bladesmithing or for the friendship haha these guys are awesome
lol the ad for the grinder was amazing
It's amazing what a good cleaning can do for the performance of a machine!
The last few vids feel like the same reason why I subscribed! They're funny and simple just like me! For real, keep it up!
Also... doggos... they make sound decisions. Allow more doggos!
I don’t know if you’ve heard Alex nor if you’ll see this but established Titels is shady I don’t recommend working with them. I've missed these build series! Love it!
some kind of oil works really good for turning paper see through. like vegetable oil. I used to use an old bottle of valve oil i had from my baritone
I loved this video so much. It was great to see a little bit of constructive chaos and silliness. And the dogs! Loved the dogs!
Bro that blade already looks good as heck wtf!!! So good
Yippi. Love the old meta is back. Getting to see a cool project with all the problems and sidetracks.
"Epic animal facts with Jamie" is a thing we need more of!!😆
one of my favorite videos on your channel
The best bit was when Alex was talking about the difficulties of engraving. It had doggos
yeeeeees thank you for giving us the good old videos with a really nice new twist on it!!! Iove seing every step of the process
Loved the switch up on the format of this one, more of the same please!
Many thanks, can’t wait to see the finished project item.🔥👍
This series feels like the good old times. Finally :)
epic cinematography, it just keeps getting better. i do want to say though, the punch force for a kangaroo was in pounds, so if you want to compare to a cow youd also want pounds (psi was used in the vid), and it would just be a quarter of its weight
Hey Alec, love your content, idea for another more complex build : Make a hidden Blade from Assassins Creed
This was a backdoor pilot for Jamie's new math channel. Had to be in the top best moments of the video.
That first song that played was the best song that's ever been played on this whole channel
Not that alec didn't bring enough life to the videos but the new recording style and things de brings more life to the videos
Oh Yeah!!! Thanks Alec!!!
Really like seeing you two work together again
