Blair Thornton on guitar and Robbie Bachman on drums. Randy Bachman on guitar and vocals with Fred Turner on bass. Such a great tune from my youth. Everyone was perfecting their stutter when they sang this song. R.I.P. Robbie Bachman.
According to Bachman, the song was performed as a joke for his brother, Gary, who had a stutter. They only intended to record it once with the stutter and send the only recording to Gary. Bachman developed the song while recording BTO's third album, Not Fragile (1974).The original line-up consisted of Randy Bachman (lead guitar, lead vocals), Fred Turner (bass guitar, lead vocals), Tim Bachman (guitar, vocals) and Robbie Bachman (drums, percussion, backing vocals).
I actually met Fred Bachman around that time. I was working in a hospital emergency room and Fred walked in with a stomach ache. I had never heard of BTO because I worked all the time. They were amazed I hadn't ever heard of them.
Randy Bachman is NOT in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a crime and a joke. To be such a huge contributor to two incredible bands, the Guess Who and BTO it’s unbelievable to me that he is not in!!!!!
Yeah a song written and sang by big brother Randy for his younger brother Gary who has a stutter. Of course younger brothers Robbie who played drums in BTO along with Tim on guitar who did there first few album's before leaving Randy didn’t want to release the song as it was but was persuaded to do so Good choice The rest is Rock n Roll History
I think you were meant to grow up in the 1970s. Your appreciation for good music with great lyrics keeps me coming back. You are, without any doubt in my mind, the best music video reactor on UA-cam. I hope you and your family (and your boss to whom you often refer) have a wonderful holiday. You're the real deal. The genuine article. A good human. Your empathy and concern for others is obvious and very welcome these days.
Shawn always looks like he’s in ecstasy when he’s listening to our stuff. And we’ll, that is actually what it does to us huh. Merry Christmas Shawn, and all!
MORE COWBELL ! Seriously , its a great track, got tons of radio play back in the day. Just another example of talent not auto tune. Keep rocking and love your reactions :)
I love how you're not afraid of doing the research as part of your reaction. It's priceless seeing the look of enjoyment on your face when you discover the music that's been a part of my life for longer than I care to admit. Merry Christmas, my friend. Rock on.....
That was really fun conversation and research at the end. I hadn't ever quite heard that last story about the record making decisions in the back and forth. That's fascinating but it doesn't surprise me at all. I can't remember if it is a live or an official music video, but there is one on UA-cam of this and it's worth reacting to that or at least watching it yourself, because it's so funny to see him delivering these lines. He's such a good musician and they all are, but while he's working his ass off in that department, he's almost borderline stand-up comedian it's so funny to me.
Randy came from the band The Guess Who. He and Burton Cummings were the chief song writers for The Guess Who. Randy left and formed BTO, and had a big hit with this song. Burton also did a solo effort and covered this song on his album. Since Randy and Burton were childhood friends, who had a minor falling out, Burton's cover of this song poked fun at the unlikely "hit" status it became in a somewhat mocking way. It is one of the funniest things I've ever heard!! I bust out laughing every time I hear it. If you are ever going to pull one on your old friend, that was the way to do it. Check out Burton's LP cover version of this song and Burton's "here is what I think about that guitar solo".....
Shawn, I swear to God that after you reacted to "Brown-Eyed Girl" I thought of mentioning this song, because I have big brown eyes!! 😂 Anyway, the lead singer's brother has a stutter, and so he sang it for his brother. It was not intended to go public! ✌️🎶
Sooo...I subbed finally. Your enthusiasm is infectious. Some reactions act as if listening to a different style or category is a chore because they feel they have to and you can spot them quickly. 🧓😎💋
I think queen song Another one bites, the dust one of those songs they didn’t wanna put on the album, but one of the Jackson’s I’m not sure if it was Michael told Freddy that it would be a hit so they put it on the album And of course it was a huge hit
Other BTO songs? The title track off this album, Gimme Your Money Please, My Wheels Won't Turn, Shotgun Rider, She's A Devil, Highland Fling, Roll On Down The Highway and plenty of other tasty bits.
I don't know if you've reacted to Janis Joplin live at the Monterey Pop Festival singing ball and chain but she started a lot better then what you been hearing
In a few short years this band had several big bangers
Blair Thornton on guitar and Robbie Bachman on drums. Randy Bachman on guitar and vocals with Fred Turner on bass. Such a great tune from my youth. Everyone was perfecting their stutter when they sang this song. R.I.P. Robbie Bachman.

I'm pretty sure 74 was a bit before My Sharona
"Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes," David Bowie (1971)
"B-B-B-Bennie and the Jets," Elton John (1973)
"Ch-ch-ch-cherry Bomb," the Runaways (1976)
Or anything by Mel Tillis.
Went to #1 in 22 countries. Not bad for what started out as a throw-away song!. ,
I've met Randy Bachman. He's a quiet reserved, sweet guy.
So...Canadian then.
@@seanmackey8552 Of course Randy is Canadian. Is that an issue?
Have a great Christmas. Stop trying to be an issue.
Randy Bachman is NOT in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a crime and a joke. To be such a huge contributor to two incredible bands, the Guess Who and BTO it’s unbelievable to me that he is not in!!!!!
Yes...definitely in agreement there...🙄👎
100% agree!!!
These dudes were the shit back in a day; thank god their music will be infinite😊

BTO Let It Ride
George Thorogood also stutters in "Bad to the Bone". In case you'd like to check that one out! great reaction!
The reasons why you love it are the same reasons as why we enjoy watching you, Shawn! Hell, I'd pay $30 to hear your flawless stutter again!
MORE COWBELL ! Seriously , its a great track, got tons of radio play back in the day. Just another example of talent not auto tune. Keep rocking and love your reactions :)
Great reaction Shawn…. Happy Holiday’s to you and your family 🙏🏻❤️🌲
I love how you're not afraid of doing the research as part of your reaction. It's priceless seeing the look of enjoyment on your face when you discover the music that's been a part of my life for longer than I care to admit. Merry Christmas, my friend. Rock on.....
This is another high school flashback song. Randy Bachman's brother stuttered and he thought this would be a fun way to tease him.
Fabulous band, great tunes from BTO. Fantastic reaction Shawn. Check out "Blue Collar" when able..🎤🎸🎶🇨🇦
You should give george thorogood and the destroyers with Bad to the Bone" is the enjoy the stutter
Look for their song, Blue Collar ~ it's an oldie and not often played. It's my favorite song from this band.
Roger Daltry of "The Who," started it, in the song "My Generation." check it out.
Great tune - maybe in honor of the holidays and stuttering, you should do Porky Pig singing “Blue Christmas”!
Great one. Beats that darn hippopotamus song any day.
HEY SHAWN! 😊 SO ( TAKIN CARE OF BUSINESS ) WAS THEIR BIGGEST HIT BY FARRRRR! BUT THAT WHOLE ALBUM ( NOT FRAGILE ) IS FYYYRRRR! 😊
Randy Bachman reworked the lyrics to Taking Care of Business, and made it festive. Taking Care of Christmas is a fun redo.🎄
My older sister had this album! Great memories of dancing with her!🔥💃
That was really fun conversation and research at the end. I hadn't ever quite heard that last story about the record making decisions in the back and forth. That's fascinating but it doesn't surprise me at all.

Love your reactions
Cowbells rule!!
Shawn, I swear to God that after you reacted to "Brown-Eyed Girl" I thought of mentioning this song, because I have big brown eyes!! 😂
Anyway, the lead singer's brother has a stutter, and so he sang it for his brother. It was not intended to go public! ✌️🎶
I love these back stories! Hearing a great song is amazing, but equally as fun is learning about the back-story! A great story on this one for sure!
Let’s rock!
I always felt it meant you met your match!
BTO RULES!!!! Canada Rules!!
Played this cruising the Strand mid -70's
Second hand is the best song off this album
Another great reaction Shawn! Another great stuttering song is "Bad To The Bone" from George Thorogood and The Destroyers, a great blues rock band.
Sooo...I subbed finally. Your enthusiasm is infectious. Some reactions act as if listening to a different style or category is a chore because they feel they have to and you can spot them quickly. 🧓😎💋
There is some stuttering in George Thorogood's song, "Bad To The Bone".
I can’t help it….. you are my #1 favorite reactor. 😊
Takin' Care Of Business!
Wow. I enjoy your videos! We baby boomers appreciate you ❤
I think queen song Another one bites, the dust one of those songs they didn’t wanna put on the album, but one of the Jackson’s I’m not sure if it was Michael told Freddy that it would be a hit so they put it on the album And of course it was a huge hit
I remember playing the crap out of this whole album in my day.
" I met a devil woman. She took my heart away"
New Girl: sorry you had to deal with that. Maybe this will make you feel better 🙂
My Generation by The Who, is an early stuttering banger from 1965, and well worth checking out. 😉
I believe this was made for his brother that stuttered? I love your channel! Hope you have a Happy, healthy, prosperous New year🙂✌️
Good info!
I saw an interview with Bachman . He said the song was only meant for training , not to be published
PROPER TUNE‼️✌🏻🏴
In Europe BTO was a hit with this and the highway song.
Largely because of the stuttering this song was #1 in 22 countries.
Great song! To hear two different vibes from I suggest
Blue Collar
Not Fragile with Fred Turner on vocals
Cheers
Good Stuff !!
Other BTO songs? The title track off this album, Gimme Your Money Please, My Wheels Won't Turn, Shotgun Rider, She's A Devil, Highland Fling, Roll On Down The Highway and plenty of other tasty bits.
Gggreat rrrrreaction...
I don't know if you've reacted to Janis Joplin live at the Monterey Pop Festival singing ball and chain but she started a lot better then what you been hearing
I mmmmiss ththththose ddddays.
Check out Blue Collar by BTO
If you like cowbell, you should give a listen to an instrumental that made top-40 in 1968, Catch "Grazin' in the Grass," by Hugh Masekila
Wish you would listen to Radar Love by Golden Earring. Good song!
George ain't no slouch with stutter either - ua-cam.com/video/dt_8aDOJvtM/v-deo.html
I dunno man, I think this is about catching STDs 🤔 😅
