    - After making a Raspberry PI controlled fox transmitter, I wanted to make one using an Arduino microcontroller. I wrote some code to translate strings into Morse code audio using the tone() function from the Arduino library.
This video explains how to make it (as a prototype…it will need to be finished inside a container of some sort), and it shows what the code does.
I hope that this project is something simple that anyone can do. The budget for the parts is as low and I can find without needing an engineering degree.

Hi !! Thanks for anwering !! I did the connections and downloaded the code, compiled, etc. but it doesn`t work. I am trying to send data from one BAOFENG BF-999S to another, I bought two of them, and I have two arduino UNO , bought also plugs 2.5 and 3.5 , connected them trying all combinations but all I get is less or more noise. Can you give any help ? Thank you so much !! Greetings from Argentina !!!!!

It may have to do with the range. Baofeng radios desensitize if they are too close. That may be one issue. The second issue is what I don’t understand about your project. The program that I wrote doesn’t modulate anything other than CW audio to transmit through the radio. It has a DTMF board so that I can control the radio remotely to turn it on or off.
The project idea that you are attempting sounds like you need to modulate data, transmit it, and on the receiver side you need to demodulate the data and display it to a screen.
If you want to do that, you’ll possibly need to find an Arduino library to accomplish that task. Packet radio might be the answer, so search up “arduino ax25 library” and Adafruit may have source code with examples you can test.
I hope that gets you pointed in the right direction.

I had no intention of building one for myself. I was going to give this one to you and leave it at that, but after putting it together for you I went ahead and ordered a new radio, antenna, and connectors. Now I just need a box!

Where can I get the complete code ? is it for Arduino Mega only ? Thanks !!

I believe you can alter the code to run on any Arduino. I haven’t used mine in ages, but I think I used the Arduino Uno.

Code is in the blog section at w1rcp.com. Somehow the blog link is missing since my last website update, but click any post on the left bar and then scroll down to the project post.
