Great tip! I struggle with SSB sigs sounding too boomy and using the PBT to accentuate the higher frequencies helps me sometimes too. Having a lot of noise at the QTH doesn’t make playing radio easy. I’d rather be in a park. :)

You gotta be extra careful with those P2P contacts. QSB will eat them alive with four ops.

I hate that digital bandwidth issue. There are a few other things that irk me about the FT-891, but for the most part I’ve learned to deal with it.

This one was too easy.

It stays in shape quite well once it is in tune. I highly recommend getting one because it is a fine piece of machinery.

From an ARES standpoint I see it being useful. I have used other modes of Winlink to communicate without access to the Internet. You can spot POTA using Winlink and the potaGW email to be spotted from way out in the wilderness. It’s always good to have many tools at your disposal.

I let it charge for 15 minutes with the solar pumping out all 50 watts. I also disconnected the negative terminal while charging. When I felt it was ready, I clamped the ground back to the battery and full send. I believe the solar charger and the truck battery taking a charge kept the BMS from completely tripping. As far as why this only happens when hauling the camper, further investigation must be done.
