For a long time in the 20th century clean shaven was the working standard, then a 1-3 day stubble became acceptable and the last 10 years or so full beards have been popping up more often and becoming popular. We’ve been seeing it with beards where the ratty unkempt faces are going away in professional settings in favor of definite styles. But it comes and goes over generations - all things grooming and style happen on some sort of cycle.
Actually its not so much that youre creating the illusion of shortness as it is that youre tying it down to express your willingness to give up freedom for the sake of the company lack of freedom is really the key here

Low-ball bun style works with the Triangle shaped face. Another is a partial ponytail, for an extra bit of style is to pull through the ponytail either under or overhand. Make three partial ponytails and do a underhand pull through for a polished professional look. One thing I'll add is use a small three strand braid or rope braid to cover the lowest elastic tie to cover it.
About 2 weeks ago, I had hair past my chin. Been growing that top part for about a year. But the sides stayed in the awkward stage for way too long which was very demotivating so I cut. And now I'm stuck with a buzz cut. Watching this video made me mad at myself for cutting my hair :(

I am a CPA that works as an auditor, arguably one of the most conservative professions other than law and finance, and I don't get much crap for my long hair....at least not to my face. But then again, i do tend to be well-groomed overall.

My work normal work environment would not be considered business casual as dress code is either company provided tshirts or polos with blue jeans and steel toes. However since growing my hair out, I find that I often will put my hair up to keep it out of my face while working. My go toes tend to be either a simply ponytail or loose bun if I want to get it off my neck or a half up ponytail if I want to wear my hair down but keep it out of my face as I work. Just want to say I'm glad I found this channel as it has provided a lot of inspiration and a boost to my selfconfidance. Keep up all the good work.

I've been growing my hair for the past 8 years. I have worked mostly in manufacturing but just got a desk job at a High School and trying to figure out the best way to keep my long curly hair presentable. I had hair down to my waist. I was looking upgrade my career as it got to point I realized there was no growth where I was working. A head hunter contacted me and we met for an interview. He told me it's a Japanese company and they are very strict. I had to cut my hair...just to get interviewed!!! Anyways, next day at work I got the scissors, grabbed my hair at the top like if I was going to put in ponytail and snipped it off. I like to do a simple bun and wrap the extra around it and tuck it into the same hair tie
I think the eyeliner and beard also really help it look like an intentional, professional style as well. It just works together well.

Honestly the best one here is without a tie at 1:24 . Soon as it's tied it looks glued to your head and also flattens your facial features.

I would say your best bet is a silicone or gentle hair tie while tying your hair loosely

I had hair down to my waist. I was looking upgrade my career as it got to point I realized there was no growth where I was working. A head hunter contacted me and we met for an interview. He told me it's a Japanese company and they are very strict. I had to cut my hair...just to get interviewed!!! Anyways, next day at work I got the scissors, grabbed my hair at the top like if I was going to put in ponytail and snipped it off. Thankfully, after 3 interviews I was offered the job.
