I've been growing mine for 15 months and I'm really struggling to look professional. I work in construction and was just passed in a foreman promotion, and I've been told it's because I don't look the part.
I got an undercut and long red dyed hair. I have been working at a bank in Germany for half a year now and I always do like a very tight bun but it destroys my hair so much so I've been looking for a new one. Thank you so much!
I'm prepping for an event in 2 1/2 years and realised my hair is going to be at least shoulder length and started looking for the 18th century styles too lol. I know slicked back looks great if I can keep my hair pressed down, ponytail is more manageable through the night though as I'm attending as help.
I find it interesting that the hairstyles you consider formal and “neat” for men would be considered messy for women. The buns for example. I would have called them messy or slightly messy buns. I wouldn’t have called them neat buns at all. Seems like it’s more accepted for men’s hair to be wilder.
I've been growing my hair out for at least 10 months, maybe a year and some change. Time has kind of blurred because of quarantine. I noticed you didn't really categorize many ponytails. You could've added one in for business as I've gone to interviews and have seen people working in more conservative corporate type areas with a middle ponytail before. You did an amazing job either way, I want to try out a lot of these. Personally I have some family that's weird about man buns but I don't care too much.
Your videos have saved my long hair🤣🤣 thanks homie I watched your braiding video yesterday and practiced plaiting a couple of hours and now I'm ready to find me a cool way to do it lol🤣 appreciate it bud
Hi Thomas, I have super big, kinky, curly hair that is only slightly shorter than yours, I have 3 questions 1. How much money does a keratin treatment usually cost? (in USD) 2. What are the best products to use? 3. Where would I go to get a keratin treatment?
I struggle with letting my hair out (if I want to look presentable), probably because I don't use any product to hold the hairstyle in place. That means, it might look good for a few seconds, but if I move my face the wrong way, it gets messy really fast. I'm talking about beach waves and your asymmetrical curly hairstyle, that's kind of what I go for, but if I don't pin down the correct parts with bobby pins... Time to look for products to hold my hair a bit more in place. My man bun is always really messy and I'm talking, pretty messy with hairs saying, "Nope, I want to do my own thing and be ultra poofy today." My hair is similar to Thomas'. Pretty curly, course and dense and also dry, so I'll get the straightened man bun a go. That one looked really good.
When I had long hair I used to tie just the middle section back and let the sides drop down over my ears and side of face. But alas, it was too high maintenance and provoked too much unwanted attention.
T, don't you agree that the low manbun actually suits all occascions? It is easy to pull off, looks clean and simple as well. There is a charm to it if you ask me.
@@thomasinaction My hair has grown long for quite a while now, although the hair around my ears aren't long enough yet to be put in horsetail or a bun. I went to a barbershop to see what their opinions were. They thought it would be nice if i cut some of the length on top so it is somewhat even with the sides, so it looks more layered and textured ish. Do you think i should do it T? I'm not ridding all the hair, they only suggested i evened it out so it looks more natural-ish if you see what i mean?
I like the French Braid style but with the full length like the way women wear it. Basically I don't compromise. If it's an extremely long full blown woman's way of wearing the hair, I do it if I can still respect myself having the look (but that's me).
I like to have the side swept one and the other side is brought into a man bun. No need for an undercut and it's super easy. A drop of argan oil makes my hair super silky too and it shines nicely. It only works inside and I wouldn't wear it for business.
I wish people would stop calling it a man bun, it is just a bun. People have a tendency of adding man to something to denote it as an undesirable thing just like man-purse or man-esplaning.
I got suggestion..made a video about how to avoid this shit on our scalp..some of the asian men and women are facing this problem..i would glad if u made it >> en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Head_louse
I'm growing out my hair currently but the front of my sides aren't long enough to fit into the man bun, so they droop down awkwardly behind my ears. What should I do to stop that? Since I have something coming up and really don't want to give up and get a haircut.
you inspired me to grow my undercut the top of head is at 7 months and the sides are 1 month wish my luck ! haha and I used to get line ups so that's gone look ugly asf growing out
We have the same hair texture and length and I get so many good ideas from you :). When I go back to look for a job I’ll probably go mid-length again. Sigh. But I got away with that length at a law firm for years. They even paid for the blowouts and straightening a couple times a week :)
Ahhh your hair is so good! I dont cut it down my hair last 1 years ago but mostly Broken and curly and not looks so good...but i still dont give up...for you all of that looks very good!
Great video. I hope that someday society can let go of classifying things in a sexist way just so that I can be accepted. For example...When women wore men’s dress shirts or men’s oversized shirts it was called the Boyfriend shirt. When men want to wear a bun or a braid for some reason everyone is calling it a ManBun or ManBraid, huh...just call it what it is...buns and braids and shirts, etc....anyway Great video in explaining the different ways to wear the hairstyles..
@@thomasinaction Hiii. I won't be, I plan on wearing my hair down when ever possible, not nearly their yet though. I've buzzed my hair since I was a child and I'm 19 now, this is the first time I have ever grown it out, and it looks way better. Thanks for all the inspiration!

Any suggestions for products to use for these styles? My hair is probably a few months out from being able to tie up still, but I need to stay business professional/business casual at work. Getting harder and harder to pull this off lately. No idea where to start!
Been growing out my hair since like 16, am now 24.. You could say my hair is really thick & wavey. However when I try to tie it up like a man bun for example, my hair just gets to messy cause it's just so dam heavy to keep it in place. It's length is just down to my shoulders however some of my mates hair styles turn out just right & there's are even longer then mine. Have you any suggestions how I can fix this? Cause honestly I'm getting tired of tying it up then chucking a beanie hat on 🙄
Then there’s me going in Viking braids for my school formal
Hahaha, you can do what ever you like. This video was just my opinions :)
I did the same for my prom 😂. I had a long undercut though. I lopped it off in July so I could match the length and grow it all out.
I wear viking braids as my everyday hairstlye XD
Would love to give Viking braids a go, any particular video you could recommend? Thanks in advance ✌🏽

I love high buns, I think low buns make me look like a dinner lady! 🤣
Hahaha I love High Man Buns too! but I also love the low one. I don't think I look like a dinner lady with it.
