VLOG: Winter in Shanghai ❄️ Christmas Markets, Daily Life in China + Book Haul

- How can we celebrate Christmas in China? The winter vibes are in full swing here in Shanghai. The weather in December is cold but dry and the smell of Christmas is in the air. For a country that historically doesn’t celebrate Christmas, it’s still possible to find German Christmas markets, real Christmas trees, and mulled wine and eggnog.
This year we visited 3 different Christmas markets to show you what you can expect from Christmas in Shanghai. Unlike European Christmas markets, I’ll admit the ones here are smaller and cozier but I was still able to find hot apple cider, apple pie, and all the sweet treats of the festive season.
Miu and I also celebrated our anniversary with a delicious dinner at Porto Matto near Jing’an and I managed to get my hands on 3 new books this month!

It’s been snowing in Shanghai these days. Those Christmas markets will be more fun in the snow.
I haven’t seen any snow in our part of the city yet but it’s certainly cold enough for it!! I’m hoping I get to see some before Christmas!

We went from 24 on Friday to -3 on Sunday. Crazy temp different. Today is 5 degrees though so no snow this morning 😭

In my impression, foreigners in Shanghai can apply for a library card at the Shanghai Library with their passport. Maybe you can try borrowing books from the Shanghai Library. They should have a wide collection of English books.@@ExpatNatt

Where do you buy English language books in shanghai?
There are a couple of bookstores, the main one I use is the “Foreign Language Bookstore” on Fuzhou road. They have the biggest selection of English Language books.

Nope! Many people still celebrate it here and my school get winter break for Christmas too.
