  • Shanghai is home to the Tesla Gigafactory, supplying the world with its brand new made to order electric vehicles. Electric Vehicles (EV), specifically cars, are increasingly popular in Shanghai and throughout China. With cities implementing restrictions on cars in the city centre to reduce emissions and traffic, EVs have been the way to go. But with Shanghai’s electric vehicle license plate policy not being extended or renewed into 2024, it was time to purchase our baby before the policy ended. But Tesla isn’t the only electric vehicle on the road (pun intended), a great and more affordable alternative is BYD (build your dreams) which is quickly becoming the front runner in electric cars in the city. I even saw some BYD models in England on my recent visit!
    Thinking of getting the new refreshed Tesla model Y? Set to launch outside of China very soon, the refreshed model Y has interior LED lighting much like the new Tesla model 3.
    In this video we will share our experience with buying a brand new Tesla in China and share with you some of the features of the model Y. We also took the car to a specialist detail shop, DZS Detail, for a final protective wrap and to give our new motor baby a splash of colour.
    If you have any recommendations on places to visit on a China roadtrip, let us know in the comments! Also if you have any ideas on names for the car, let us know too!
    Thank you for watching!

    Road trips in a Tesla is fantastic. It’s fun, safe and the autopilot makes driving very relaxing. The seat is so comfortable. I am totally spoiled by my Tesla Y which I have for 2 years and LOVE it. You will never regret your decision. Have fun. 🎉

    What a cool video! Thank you for sharing so much about the process of getting a car in China. Had no idea a license plate was so expensive but that is sensible to limit traffic and road congestion as well as fund public road maintenance. If I were in China I would totally get a BYD and support Chinese companies. But you're right as well - you can't go wrong with Tesla, and they do manufacture them there. Congratulations!

      Happy New Year! Thank you for watching! When this video was edited the end of year 2023 for Tesla and BYD figures had not been published, but BYD is definitely a front runner for 2024 (I LOVE some of their models, but for us the Model Y took top place for Miu- He's a car guy).

    Congrats on your car purchase. It changes everything. BYD is the biggest EV car company in the world right now, but Tesla is a great car still. I probably will never get an electric car here in the US because of convenience.

    • @ExpatNatt
      @ExpatNatt  6 місяців тому +1

      Yes, I agree with the convenience things, I recently went back to England and noticed they have many more EV charging stations and EVs compared to when I was there in summer but it’s still not as convenient as a fuel car yet.

      I live in the US and have a Tesla Y for 2 years, charging is not a problem at all, I charge it at home except on long road trips. Charging at home is extremely convenient and cheap. Superchargers on the road trips are easy and reliable. The navigation tells you where all the Superchargers are on your route and how much range you will have went you get there, even warm up your battery so you can charge at maximum speed. The technology in a Tesla is so advanced, one can only experience it after driving it for a while. It keeps downloading new software to improve your car. It’s an amazing car. It’s fast, fun, safe and has the best technology. Plus you can get $7,500 Federal Credit up front now. I am 78 and this is by far the best vehicle I have ever owned.

    In terms of road trip recommendations. I would go to Lishui of Zhejiang province which is close to Shanghai. This mountainous area has many unspoiled landscapes and villages. They have many trails that you can stop and do a hike with beauty views of mountain and river.

      Tesla don’t put a protective coating on their cars (to force you to pay extra at their garage for the protective coating) so it would need to wrapped with a protective layer regardless, why not make it a fun colour! For us in Shanghai and being near the gigafactory it is a very convenient and reliable car with quick rescue option if we break down or it needs to go in for repairs. Honestly I’m not a car gal, but it was certainly more affordable than the Lamborghini Miu wants hahaha

    I never knew license plates cost so much in China! 😮 Here in the USA, gas prices, maintenance, and annual property taxes (for simply owning an operable vehicle that touches the public streets even once during a given year) are the continual costs I would have to worry about if I owned a vehicle. A road trip from China all the way to the UK or anywhere in Africa would be epic and in my mind, at least, a fun idea lol! The colors shown at the end looked awesome-- especially that metallic crimson brown one!

    • @ExpatNatt
      @ExpatNatt  6 місяців тому +1

      Yeah they are so expensive! Luckily the running costs are much cheaper than a car in the UK too. I’d love to do an epic roadtrip but we both work very long hours and Miu only gets 10 days holiday a year so we are very limited to short roadtrips (until we win the lottery 😉) the metallic crimson one is our one! I’ve never seen a car that colour before so I’m absolutely in love with it! ❤️

      Yes especially in tier 1 cities. This is bc as u know cities in China are extremely populated compared to abroad. Dense, too. Too many cars would just be awful in Shanghai. That's why the gov is ensuring the metros are well kept and functional so they would be preferred for traveling.

    • @ExpatNatt
      @ExpatNatt  5 місяців тому

      It’s actually closer to £12000 but still it’s cheaper than some other places in the world, especially smaller cities where they want to reduce the amount of cars in the city. In England the license plates are free so this was a big shock to me hahah

    Well, i respect that too😅! Maybe if he lived in Europes he would be more open 😊. But ok, just answer what attracted you the most on chinese man and do you think size matter or not? Basically its an issue that many have speciallu asians have the fame of not having a good size.

    • @ExpatNatt
      @ExpatNatt  6 місяців тому +1

      Honestly I had never really been attracted to Chinese men, I didn’t really know any and it wasn’t something I considered before I met Miu. I would love him even if he was an alien so for me race doesn’t matter at all. That’s not to say that I don’t find him attractive because I definitely do. I think now that I live in China I notice there are so many attractive people all over the world. As for size, I don’t really know if the stereotype is true. I think if you google average sizes there’s not actually much difference between countries worldwide, at least not a big enough difference that it would be noticeable unless you were a doctor and had seen many first hand 😅😅😅

    • @ed0384
      @ed0384 6 місяців тому

      @@ExpatNatt . Well, you're right race in the end is a very little factor to take into consideration, as whats important is how you feel with them. Also, i get your thought because from you tried to say is that you didn't feel attracted to chinese men or even another asian race i guesse coz you didn't meet or saw them close by, but aftwr that your mindset changed.
      Yeah, its somehow a debate that us human beings have constantly. You are right there not much difference worldwide like fot example the highest is 6.93" that is equator and DRC. And as for asians I thought that China was the Smallest one and i was surprised to see that ehe average chinese men erect/stretched is 5.09 (12.9cm) and countries like India and korea i guess were the smallest with 3.09 worldwide. Worldwide we have average, but only smallest % ot greater that average 5". In conclusion, I think this depends from one person to another. You said you dont think this stereotypes are true, but before meeting Miu and after didn't you notice any difference between your previous dates and after meeting Miu.😅
      N.B I am not a doctor 😅😂
      Are you happy with his size, like is satisfactory for you as lady. Sorry, iam getting a bit deep, but i always had the curiosity of this sexual curiosity on asians and western girls on such matter😅😅.
