28 year Chevron manager here & regarding diesel fuel; it’s not the diesel that grows the algae, it’s water from condensation that sits on the bottom of the tank or can. Always best if the tractor will be sitting for any extended time to have a full fuel tank (helps prevent condensation) and ALWAYS USE A FUEL ADDITIVE. There are additives that prevent algae! Plus, the diesel these days is junk and your engine will last much longer with some added lubrication
Fuel at the end of the day and keep the tank full. A fuel additive is what I would recommend. Jelling in the winter 🥶 and Algae in the summer. Try to use a Truck-stop that has a good turnover and they put in the additives before you buy. Also make sure to look at your owners manual for the correct product. Not all diesel is created equal ✅
I have come to the realization that procrastination is damaging my life and I have made a firm decision that I will STOP procrastinating. And I will do it SOON...
I’m only one of a million views but I sure appreciate each and every one of y’all’s podcasts thank you very much for y’all’s experience in homesteading ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Yes sir, been here for all 81 episodes. And that is how I found Jason and Ben because I had watched Al for a few years before this came along. Now I watch every episode of all three. When I started watching Al he was just going full time on his channel.
horse mats are great for where you are standing rather than being on cement. Easy to sweep clean. I use them as a transition by the door of a shed where mud would be a problem.
Friday is the best podcast trio time❤😊 Suspenders are great man tool😊I keep trying to talk my son into getting suspenders. Jason it's a good time to organize your sheds. They are look great. Al I am looking forward to seeing the latest project done. Thanks again for sharing your lives with us ❤😊
There are 3 podcasts I look forward to every week. Duck Call Room, Smart Money Happy Hour, and Homestead ShopTalk. I already heard your podcast on iheart waiting for it to be uploaded to UA-cam. Now I'm listening again on UA-cam. Thank y'all for all u do!!
Hello 👋 guys, here in western Tennessee it started snowing about 2 this morning and is still snowing now. It’s supposed to snow until this evening, we have about 5 inches of snow now just before noon today. Be prepared not scared, it’s coming your way 👍💪🙌🙏🌈✌️🐽🐷🐖
Our vet told us to put sugar on the prolapse of one of our IPP'S Kevin pushed it back in eventually. Jason, I love your organization! Ben, Love the suspenders!
Funny. I was eating a snack while you guys were discussing Prolapse rectum. As a retired EMT, we've seen many situations. It doesn't bother me.❤ Great job guys. Life on the land. SE MICHIGAN 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 It's snowing 2" to 4". We havent had much snow. More clouds fog, moments of sun, once in awhile. 🙏🙏🙏
Ben, yes microbes can grow in diesel tank it is due to moisture there are additives to put in to kill it and also additives to allow the fuel to absorb the water. Up here in canada we can get moisture in the tank of any vehicle due to condensation in a tank that is not full. You may not be using your tractor often enough or it might be better to keep it indoors to have a steady temp. Haha you may have to rent it out to Jason more so it gets some good use. Drain your tank and start fresh with some fuel treatment and try and top up fuel after each use.
Laughing as you guys talk about Lord of the Rings... My family talked me into going to the #3 long version, mind you I had never seen any other of the series. At the 20 minute mark I was bored and went out for a coffee, came back 30 minutes later and felt like I didn't miss ANYTHING! I never understood why anyone would get into those movies! I noticed that the Wizard guy was wearing "TENNIS SHOES" and wearing a watch! That kinda blew the whole theme out for me. I DO enjoy listening to you guys talk about weather and chores! :)
Happy New Year guys..praying lots of success with your projects, blessings in your families and lots of content for us subscribers @Ben, remember your goals of completing your home ..love your family and I rooting for you
Put wheels that lock on your table Ben . Al, so glad Sweet Potato is doing better. Jason, just watched your vid of the storage table .... loved it. Jason, so wish you weren't 6 hrs away from us I'd so buy your fresh chicken 😋. Love your podcasts ❤. Bless you all, keep healthy & warm 🙏🏼
Pro Tip - Shop talk is gonna have some over sharing about farming activity, that's the point! just in case anyone was unclear on that point! this is the info some of us need. Thanks guys!
Our Kubota has a similar issue, but ours was a wasp in the tank. Apparently mud dobbers made a nest IN the nose of our diesel tank. Didn’t catch it and it all ended up in the tractor fuel tank. We drained the tank and lines to repair it. If you’ve an issue that restricts you to only 1/2 a tank, you need to drain the whole system. You’re not using that fuel anyway, so just waste it or use it to start your brush pile fire.
Farm life .. Al it's best to know these situations but until they happen Who Knew.. unless you're blessed enough to have an amazing old timer as a neighbour .. All homestead's are amazingly put together gents . Oh the suspenders look Great 👍 btw !
Hey Ben, can you use one of those fuel transfer pumps to suck out the very bottom of you tank and pump it into something clear like a gallon glass container? At least get the bulk of the contamination out. I know Al used one of those for a long time to go from his fuel can to his tractor instead of pouring it back in the day. With a clear container you could at least see how it settles over time in the jar to isolate the part that is clogging things.
If you happen to watch some episodes of The Incredible Doctor Pol he showed fixing prolapses on pigs with the short piece of PVC. Great show to watch on your down time😊
GFS indicates no snowstorm for the next two weeks. Indications for drought conditions due to a lack of moisture here in the Northeast US. What is the impact on dairies and orchards?
I just watch Andy and Megan from true grit and they cure their own pork ham. Steak They’ve been doing it for generations and it’s a really cool thing to see how they do it and to let it sit through the three months and then every year they just keep doing them and it’s real good. I don’t know if you’ve seen that one. It was a recent video that they posted, they do a lot of things..
@Homestead Shop Talk Podcast Jason, You might want to save a few of those mats for your work shop. Maybe in front of a workbench. You are on your feet a lot. Standing/walking on cement is hard on your knees! Try to protect them when you can.
I've got a pair of c-shaped grippers for our stall mats. Still have to drag them, but it's a lot easier than gripping with just fingers. Could buy a pair and throw them in with the mats if you find a buyer.
All you guys talk about things on the homestead but I don't hear a topic from different podcasters... really nice to hear honest opinions. Topic I'm trying ro get some honest feed back on is the drones y'all have and what ya think about them... It's just a thought. Thanks for another awesome podcast 😮😊 There are some really good info on the cure for algae 😊 Till the next one.... 🙏👍🤙
You've gotten water in your fuel tank, guys. The water is growing the algae. You'll have to empty and clean your tank. Jason, Justin Rhoades might want some of those horse mats for his daughter's horse. I understand he's looking for a second horse.
Thanks guys for another interesting listen
Thanks for listening

Prolapse on Chickens and Quail, when pushing the prolapse back in, you put sugar or honey on it as you work it, wonder how that would work with pigs.
Great podcast ❤Kathy 😊

It is snowing in north Texas
I always used a pint of ATF in a 90 gallon tank at the change of each season . Also use in old steel gas tanks to disolve any rust in the system.
Sea Foam can be used in Diesel
Jason, if you want to learn about procrastination, Ben is showing you how! 😂 😂
Good morning guys.
👏👏👏
Enjoyed your video. 💚
Hello U3
Greetings to your families
Good talk.
I had the same problem with my Kubota tractor. Had to have the fuel tank removed & cleaned out. Replaced all the filters.
I would like to know how Jason and Ben became friends and how you got to know Al.
that answer is on a previous podcast. thanks!
Watching this while it's snowing on Friday...looking like it's gonna be a big one up here in Wilkes Co NC

Ben, where did you get suspenders. Have been looking for the wide braces and good connectors.
Thanks!
Hi guys!
Hey Jason, are you ever going to have a q and a on your pod cast.
I had that small for 30 years
Sounds to me like you’ve got moisture in your tank. Isn’t there a deisel additive to dry that up?
We have a “horseshoe” in our county
It can come a gully washer all around us but thankfully we don’t get it too bad
They make algicide for diesel
Got here late today work had me tied up lol
❤

Hey guys. What’s your go to for butchering aprons? My hubby is looking for one. Thanks!
What is the hardest thing about homesteading and what the easy ?
🇦🇺How expensive would it be to buy a new fuel tank for the tractor?
If them boys coming down for your class have seen this Ben, they are probably not bringing their table now. LOL.
Ben should buy a Amish hat😄😄

I am drinking pomegranate juice!
Yep, eating lunch. I’m a nurse though so not much grossed me out.
I call my procrastination… creative avoidance.
yep had a pet python snake that happened to, after 3 times the vet took a few stiches in there and no more issues, it still scarry on any animal Prolapse is not fun for any animal or the owner
Hmmm, watch what Dr Pol does for prolapsed pigs. She may reprolapse with delivery.
Al are you going to breed the other gilt before you butcher the boar?
Yeeeee ha.
Off road diesel!!!
I'm eating breakfast Ai is not hard it works best with a teaser I used to Ai at a 2500 head farrowing farm I would get rid of the sow
Again, off road diesel is your solution
I was to see AI vlogs for a pig!! I want to farrow, but don’t want a boar.

Over regulation!
Question. Don’t the non-castrated males taste odd?
It's only 20% of the population that can taste "boar taint". We were lucky and we didn't taste it. We were given a free male piglet because he had a hernia and castrating him would have killed him. He tasted good! Have a great Sunday!
This is last weeks podcast
Actually I prefer actors who've read the books, I'm biased tho.
Don't you have to have a pig castrated before you eat them?
