This song continues 6 years later to inspire me, makes me cry, motivates me, and puts a smile on my face. Thank you Kathleen.
All my love but we are a. Token
Broken country
Living is easy
Life is all dreams
me too. four years later!
Ditto…so captivating
And props to the director and videographers of this video... The shooting angles, time lapse and attention to lighting and shadows were truly a work of art. Rare to see great cinematography like this in music vids anymore.
Agreed! College film major here.
Love this song...just reminds me of when the world could be changed by just a change of city, or sheets, or just a cool tune like this playing on a rainy day. Thanks to all the songwriters like this that can effect change where it matters, the heart.
" A soft place to land" brought me to this amazing artist. The industry has changed dramatically and now true artist/musicians don't get the respect they deserve. I find myself wa5ching tv series to hear really good artist. I heard Kathleen Edwards for the first time in a show called "Haven" I have a few suggestions for you...... Wye Oak, Daughter, Ben Howard, thenewno2, vuvuvultures and the duke spirit.
The world can still be changed like that...Or a change of mentality or mindset.
I can't believe I've seen the word 'effect' spelled correctly and in the right context in UA-cam comments
Amen! One Cool Song! 💘💘💘
This song has my heart… I had a failed career in Nashville Tn as musician and on my drive home to my family this song came on the local college station
This song gives me chills. Makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck, and gives huge goose bumps. Love the melody and lyrics, and her voice. Good production. Great song. :)
I love this song soooo much, its just one of those special rare wondrous things where everything lines up magically.
For some reason I can't help but listen to this song over and over again.
same here :)
Same here... I don't know if it's that incredibly catchy back-beat, or the expert slide guitar, or Ms. Edwards' great singing, but... I play this one until I'm sick of hearing it (and I can usually go for about 5 days before I have to put it on again)...
It’s because Kathleen is so damn good! 😉
Because it’s goood 😊
Because you have emotions. Get used to it.
My good luck to discover Kathleen being interviewed on NPR. Love the songs, her sound, etc.
I will be listening this this beautiful song when I drive to Quitters Coffee. If I am lucky enuf to catch of glimpse of Kathleen, that will make it a perfect road trip!
Love it when songs and videos match perfectly like this. Very beautiful
Old guys like me come to you tube to listen to songs that are often ignored by radio and/or "video" channels. Music first, last, and always.
Kathleen Edwards and her brilliant music brought me here. Nothing else.
I saw the Ft Worth/Dallas I-35 split at 0:39 as she sang "going home". I've made this drive all my life growing up and living at both ends of the split. Every time I travel up or down I-35 I have to ask "which way is the best way". I think in life you never know. Even the best option could have an unexpected roadblock along the way. And sometimes you wonder "Well, what if I had chosen the route I'm used to" or "What if I had chosen the longer, less desirable way." You don't know and you can't go back. You simply have to follow your heart and make the best of what's in front of you.
Voyageur helped me through a really tough time.
Well said man!
this comment is profound onto itself.
Yes, one of the best songs indeed, for late 2011 and into 2012! Great artist! Let's hear more of Kathleen into 2013 and beyond.
hey! 2:17! Minneapolis! that's the 35W bridge the collapsed a while ago. i live there. i love this song. i play it on Radio K as much as I can
I've never heard anything by her before but before she even started to sing I decided that I would love this. And I did.
cinematography is gorgeous! oh and Kathleen is absolutely AWESOME!
Wow what a voice! Keep the muse alive Kathleen, and thank you for your remarkable music.
certain songs like this can bring you so much peace. it's 5am where I am, and out of nowhere, I thought about this song that I'm shocked I temporarily forgot about for years. what triggered it is thinking about the margaritas at a locally owned restaurant here called nacho mama's, since margaritas is in the lyrics obviously.
favorite song.
Same for me. This is by far one of my favorite songs and artists. It would be great to see her perform sometime soon in New England area. The song is great, yet, sad too. Let's hear more great music from her in the months and years to come. Go for it, Kathleen. Rock on.
Woke up with this song stuck in my head despite not having heard it for probably months... it's that good I guess :P
what a beautiful rockstar... with unusual depth and reach
Talent times a million!!!!!
Wow ... such musical talent, gorgeous girl-next-door Kathleen, lyrics you can hear and understand, and such creative and scenic cinematography. Recently saw her on The Letterman Show and was quite impressed.

Kathleen is a Canadian treasure
Been listening to Kathleen for 7 years here in Michigan. We love her in her hockey skates!!
I truly wish more people knew about her and her amazing talent...Kathleen Edwards puts to shame many of today's so-called musicians! It's good to have her back ! Can't wait to see this wonderful and talented woman in concert in a few weeks! All the best in the new year Kathleen!
So amazing! I hope Kathleen makes more music someday. :'(
Amazing and inspiring - this singer-songwriter!
Kathleen is a musical presence.
“Started so long ago”, there’s never been a song which she wrote (or played) that was so deeply felt. It’s no wonder that she left the road? So viciously, vitally lived , died and spit it all up in concert that night. Thank you for sharing, and remaining. Thank you most for picking up where you left. Thank you, Kathleen.
so funny how late iam to this amazing celebration of song. i once heard Hockey Skates and was instantly hooked. i stumbled on this one, and havnt bin able to stop spinning it. over and over in ma head!! all day. insane. GREAT SONG KATHLEEN!! well fukn done
Kathleen, your work is beautiful. If ever there was a need for deep, spiritual beauty it is now. I implore you to start again and keep going. The world needs your music.

A national treasure.
A most pleasant surprise. I was trying to find the name of the artist and of a song played during today's CBC's DNTO. During this search, Kathleen's song was stumbled upon. Wonderful piece.
Such fantastic camera and post work, and KE is an amazing musician to boot...amazing.
