Kathleen is one of those rare artists that (I believe) sounds even better live than she does on record. Her performance is heartfelt and true. If you like her stuff - be sure and see her live! Thanks SO much for sharing this! :)
Months can go by, yet I still get drawn back to this performance, as well the songwriting presented. It continues to be one of my very favorite Tiny Desk Concerts.
Kathleen opened the show ( I forget the year ) for John Prine in Salt Lake City . When a legend like John likes your music , no other endorsement is required . A side note - I was going thru a box of stored CDs and found the signed CD of hers that my daughter bought at that show . Good memories .
Have seen Kathleen at 9th Ward (Buffalo) and last week at Geneva, NY and even my wife can't get Kathleen's music out of her head a week later. Can't wait for more.
Last year, visiting my sons in Hanoi, I spent a lovely evening listening to some lovely music . This was the highlight . So thankful for this wonderful artist and the trio for playing so beautifully
That's right, Hannah has been opening for Kathleen on tour this year and also singing backup. What a treat! I caught their performance in Victoria. Even after coming down off the high of watch the performance I still feel it was the best concert I've seen. Her whole band is fantastic (Gord Tough, who you see here, does fantastic solos, and Jim Bryson on keyboards and sometimes lead bass would take us all into some other realm once he started pogo-ing).
First impression was nostalgia for the old great folk song days of the early sixties, of Judy Collins and Judee Sill, the songs from the heart, personal and emotional. Tiny Desk is a great place to see such great stuff. I am really enjoying this . . .
Kathleen Edwards is a new discovery for me today. I had heard her name over the years, but hadn't heard her. Pleasant voices and melodies, strong point of view lyrics. House Full of Empty Rooms is evocative. Tiny Desk is a great showcase for good writers.
Man, a friend introduced me to Voyageur when it came out and I loved the album. I never watched any live performances and haven’t returned to Kathleen’s music in many year but seeing this performance made me realize what the songs meant to me, a great deal more than I thought. Hope to see you live soon in CA Kat!
Stumbled across her while watching "A Skiier's Journey". Was so glad they did a Tiny Desk for her, she's amazing. Also props for the Tito's Vodka, gotta love Austin.
Imagine walking into a room and feeling dull and down and you meet Kathleen. She's unassuming, happy and friendly. As are her friends. Then, they each grab an instrument and give you this. Is your outlook on humanity altered. I think so.
When I hear A House full of Empty rooms I imagine staring at frostbitten fields of grass through a second story window of a red brick rural Ontario farmhouse on a cloudy November day.
She came out with a new album today. Hurray! *And* you can get a bag of her Quitters coffee with it if you order it through her website. I'm not joking.
most definitely. they toured together in 2012. i saw Hannah when she came through town (Madison, WI) and had a good time. very different than Kathleen, but a talent for sure!
Incomparable singer songwriter. One of Canada's national treasures. Thoughtful poetry often camouflaged by the accessibility of the music. Thank you.

That first album, Failer, was the soundtrack of 2003 for me
beautiful Kathleen. A true canadian jewel. If I'm not mistaken the very talented Hannah Georgas is singing backup for her. A match made in heaven.
I was wondering if that was Hannah Georgas, another Canadian jewel.

Just had to say yes. Yes.

she is a treasure .. one of a kind. you know its here immediately when you hear it.
She’s got it all and more! Hoping she continues to write, record, and play for a long time!
Beautiful as always Kathleen. We become to expect nothing else from you. Shout out to Hannah Georges for the great backup vocals.
Missed this
Glad I've found it though
Kathleen is awesome and her music is truly suited to this little venue
Wonderful
I love her so much. RIght amount of vulnerability, anger and grit.
Kathleen is one of Canada's best singer/songwriters, hands down.
Have seen Kathleen at 9th Ward (Buffalo) and last week at Geneva, NY and even my wife can't get Kathleen's music out of her head a week later. Can't wait for more.
She’s releasing a new album soon! Several songs from it dropped on itunes.
Even when she sings about a sad theme it makes me smile. Just a great song writer who isn't afraid to break with convention.

Only just found this. Love it. Edwards is unpretentious, funny, touching, and absolutely brilliant.
I saw this tour, with a full band in DC. Absolutely great show.
These songs are much more than sweet, warm, and relatable. Jeebus. They are soul, meaning, and feeling. Love especially the last one! XO
