This figure skating championship is inspired by Sasha Trusova - where she mentioned in some interviews that she would like to compete with men! After witnessing the historic championship of Russian Nationals Ladies free skate 2021, we started imagining a championship of Men and ladies together in a few rounds of competitions on Jumps, spins, and step sequence, and all around (Taking reference from the Artistic Gymnastic competition format). I love your channel, it really is amazing to all the skaters. 2019, I was at Skate America, Skate Canada and was planned for the World 2020 which was cancelled. I am so thankful that Yuzuru has never given up even he felt that he was not improving in his jumps. We saw at the JNational, he has proven that his strength and mental health were beyond every other skaters ever walking on this planet earth. Thanks again for all your work to bring light into this Covid era.

I love the idea of having separate rounds of competitions for jumps, spins, step sequence, and artistry.. They really require different skillsets and should be judged separately. Hopefully one day there will be more events and more medals opportunity for the skaters
I dunno, I don't like the idea personally because to me figure skating as a sport is combination of athletism and art. So I'd like to see a complete performance with both difficult tech and effortless artistry. With separate competitions like in gymnastic for example, it won't be special IMO. I like to go back watching great performance while I can gush about how difficult the program is as well as engulf in the nuance and art.
@@yohanes2034 How about separate events? Like the entire program, then the separate events etc.. It's all about increased chance for figure skaters who can't be good for all... Just thought about skaters like Julia Lipnitskaya with super nice spins..
Separate international events probably. But for worlds or olympics I still think it's better off with the competitions that we are having right now. We have team event already which was initiated to bring more competitions for FS, but the title olympic gold medalist for team event really can not hold candle as the individual olympic gold medal. So same with the separate jumping, PCS, spins, stsq competitions, IMO they don't really bring prestige. It's not that I am old fashioned. I like IJS compared to 6.0 system for example. I think the execution is just bad. Judges should be held accountable for the marks they give. Like Trusova vs Scherbakova quad Lz, Anna should not receive higher GOE for inferior technique. PCS should be judged accurately as well, so far I don't think judges giving too much thoughts in differentiating 5 program components. A lot of times all marks fall within the same range. Sorry for my rambling 😁
@@yohanes2034 Agree actually! Like gymnastics I watched, there's also multiple mentions that team gold is nothing. Individual golds (Especially All-around) is what makes you the true champion. That's why Nastia Liukin got so much more attention when she defeated Shawn Johnson for the AA title in 2008 Olympics. Also like Patrick Chan, he won the team Gold in OG2018. But so what, he doesn't get the attention Yuzu got, not even close. But still, it's good for them to carry an "Olympic Gold Medalist" title for their resume I guess. When there's more event, there's more hope. So more parents will be willing to invest in their children's sport career I guess. It seems there's a boom of gymnastics in the US but the interest for figure skating is declining over the years.. I wonder if this is one of the contributing factors (The medal drought and they almost have no chance to defeat the Russian girls in the near future)..

It may have been mentioned but it would be really cool to repeat this in series format and dissect why each skater got each score for a jump/step sequence/spin/PCS and see if you guys would score them the same way or why you would change the scores, maybe eliminate the strict Japan/generous Russia aspect.
Yes we are looking into the possibility of doing this.. A bit of challenge because if we were to do a video like that, we want to make sure that we are not being disrespectful to skaters / judges for doing that 😫

Yuzu would beat Chen too. Chen got 113 on his SP US Nat is overscored..... If Japan Nat would be scored like US Nat than would be no question who is the best..... However it is not a question anyway!!!!
The US / Russian judges give scores with +5 by default in mind and deduct only if there's error.. The Japanese judges give scores with 0 by default in mind and only add the points from there if there's something done outstandingly.. That's the difference in the mindset in general between the Westerners and Asians we found..
can't disagree with you, Yuzuru Hanyu's score should be higher given the jumps, spins and the artistry. I found that Nathan does not have the transition after each jumps into the steps as Yuzuru does. Nathan is stopping his schooling completely to focus on skating for the Olympic 2022 whereas Yuzuru was able to manage both study and skating since 2015. He won two Olympic Gold . Also Yuzuru did a lot of public relation for Japan and Sendai where as Nathan is just focusing in training and in school. He does not need to represent USA in the international level as Yuzuru does for Japan. I was really impressed during my time in Sendai, Japan 2019 and saw what Hanyu has done for his hometown. He is not just a skater but also a very special young man.
@@ruthmorales9533 I took my family to Sendai in 2019 just to visit the hometown and to see the devastation of the 2011 earthquake. we were touch with all the rebuilding efforts from the citizens and from Yuzuru. He has put his heart and soul into motivating the people of Sendai and the businesses staying to rebuild the city, the schools, libraries and all the infrastructure. The people of Sendai speak highly of Yuzuru and so respectful. He is their light and we can see why he continues to skate to this day. Not for himself but for those who need hope to move on. Thank you. not until you come to Sendai that you can feel the deepest feeling of being alive and healthy. I brought my children from California and I am so glad I did. They learn and are more appreciative especially during this Covid Pandemic.

Yeah despite the criticism on the technique etc, can't deny the fact that the Russian girls are doing such an incredible job in showing the world that whatever guys can do, girls can do too!

Thank you for the video, it's both entertaining and educational. I realized that Eteri's ladies don't include layback spin to FS, in order to maximize their marks (and it's a pity as I LOVE layback spins so much...) and that it's not true what some fans say that with the same PCS factor for both men and ladies Russian ladies would be better than men (and I don't think Misha got his PCS only because judges love him...). If I can complain: you mislead viewers by the "dialog" between Sasha and Kamila during the step sequence part: it's not like Sasha's StSq is choreographed to get level 3 (and Plushenko doesn't know the scoring system). All StSq are choreographed to get level 4, but skaters can't fulfill all elements to get the level. Eteri's choreo didn't help Sasha in the past as she got lower level several times (and the same is true for Anna, Aliona and other skaters under Eteri).
Wow thanks for clarification here. I wonder why Shoma got only level 2, then Yuzu and Sasha got only level 3.. So it's all because they had mistake in their programs and wasn't able to fulfil the choreographed elements?
@@chunghuey113 Everything can happen during a performance: a skater can stumble or just make an edge too flat or can be steamed off and skip an element... The keyword for StSq is: difficult, so I imagine it's struggling for features. For example for level 4 a skater should do "Two different combinations of 3 difficult turns on different feet executed with continuous flow within the sequence" and it's enough to state lack of "continuous flow" to downgrade the level.
@@ria3817 Interesting. So here I have a question, I like Yuzuru's new LP and i watched multiple times. I notice his step sequence has a stop where he had a very nice post.. (Kinda around 13:55 - 14:21 in this video. The stop with the nice post happened at around 14:05 in this video) Then the commentator said "Here comes his step sequence".. It really makes me feel like its the choreography which caused him to get level 3 in Stsq, because the loops and turns before that 14:05 will not be counted or it will be stated as lack of "continuous flow" (For the nice posture I love at 14:05- 14:06 there..) What do u think about it?
Thanks for your words of encouragement. Yeah agree. Definitely all the skaters have the programs choreographed with the level 4 in spins and stsq in mind. The fan-imaginative dialogues are designed to add the drama and entertainment instead of educational :P Actually just to add in the clarification, the designed "dialog" at the Sasha and Kamila on the second jumps (2A,2A) vs (3Lo,2A) was also wrong if taken seriously. Coz Sasha couldn't have done another triple jump there with her layout coz they can only repeat maximum 1 triple + 1 quad jumps..

11:49 me he tardado alrededor de 6 minutos en ver si Hanyu completó los 3 giros en cada figura, y la última figura, por 3.25 giros, que es imperceptible sin cámara lenta fue anulada???? O sea se excedió .25 en el tercer giro y por eso puntuo cero???. El patinaje artístico es un deporte muy caro para practicarlo, y los ojos humanos no están capacitados para calificar este tipo de deporte. Simplemente se necesita la tecnología precisa existente para hacer de esto un juego limpio nuevamente y honorable (si es que alguna vez lo fue)

Interesting competition ( maybe, one day, we'll see it for real ). Truth is, Russian ladies are way better than Russian men, at the moment, and they can easily beat most of the men of the world. But, what I do not understand is why the base value of the same technical elements are different for men's competition from the ladies' ?

If yes perhaps it’s due to the jumps being put in second half (10% bonus) or under rotation call etc.. definitely not because it’s the difference for men and ladies.. if u recall some feel free to write here and we can study it together :)

Yuzuru is almost always scored lower than his performance really is. I found that his performance is an art beyond scoring competitions.

Seriously a lot of his elements are worth perfect 10s (+GOE 5) like Nadia Comaneci but really just too bad the judges were so conservative when they gave that score..

I love the idea of having separate rounds of competitions for jumps, spins, step sequence, and artistry.. They really require different skillsets and should be judged separately. Hopefully one day there will be more events and more medals opportunity for the skaters
I dunno, I don't like the idea personally because to me figure skating as a sport is combination of athletism and art. So I'd like to see a complete performance with both difficult tech and effortless artistry. With separate competitions like in gymnastic for example, it won't be special IMO. I like to go back watching great performance while I can gush about how difficult the program is as well as engulf in the nuance and art.
@@yohanes2034 How about separate events? Like the entire program, then the separate events etc.. It's all about increased chance for figure skaters who can't be good for all... Just thought about skaters like Julia Lipnitskaya with super nice spins..
Separate international events probably. But for worlds or olympics I still think it's better off with the competitions that we are having right now. We have team event already which was initiated to bring more competitions for FS, but the title olympic gold medalist for team event really can not hold candle as the individual olympic gold medal. So same with the separate jumping, PCS, spins, stsq competitions, IMO they don't really bring prestige.
It's not that I am old fashioned. I like IJS compared to 6.0 system for example. I think the execution is just bad. Judges should be held accountable for the marks they give. Like Trusova vs Scherbakova quad Lz, Anna should not receive higher GOE for inferior technique. PCS should be judged accurately as well, so far I don't think judges giving too much thoughts in differentiating 5 program components. A lot of times all marks fall within the same range. Sorry for my rambling 😁
@@yohanes2034 Agree actually! Like gymnastics I watched, there's also multiple mentions that team gold is nothing. Individual golds (Especially All-around) is what makes you the true champion. That's why Nastia Liukin got so much more attention when she defeated Shawn Johnson for the AA title in 2008 Olympics. Also like Patrick Chan, he won the team Gold in OG2018. But so what, he doesn't get the attention Yuzu got, not even close. But still, it's good for them to carry an "Olympic Gold Medalist" title for their resume I guess. When there's more event, there's more hope. So more parents will be willing to invest in their children's sport career I guess. It seems there's a boom of gymnastics in the US but the interest for figure skating is declining over the years.. I wonder if this is one of the contributing factors (The medal drought and they almost have no chance to defeat the Russian girls in the near future)..

It may have been mentioned but it would be really cool to repeat this in series format and dissect why each skater got each score for a jump/step sequence/spin/PCS and see if you guys would score them the same way or why you would change the scores, maybe eliminate the strict Japan/generous Russia aspect.
Yes we are looking into the possibility of doing this.. A bit of challenge because if we were to do a video like that, we want to make sure that we are not being disrespectful to skaters / judges for doing that 😫

Юзу настолько быстро и легко делает прыжки, что судьи думают, что он совершил 3 оборота, а не 4 к нему особая "любовь")
Прыжки Юзу всегда такие особенные ... Нам, когда он прыгает втройне, кажется, что он прыгает четверными. Когда он прыгает четверными, кажется, что у него на 1 оборот больше, чем у других фигуристов. Действительно великолепно!

I love playing sports and watching sports programs since childhood. It made me notice that Figure skating It is a sport that makes athletes feel more athletic than any other sport.They love each other very much. Yuzu would beat Chen too. Chen got 113 on his SP US Nat is overscored..... If Japan Nat would be scored like US Nat than would be no question who is the best..... However it is not a question anyway!!!!
The US / Russian judges give scores with +5 by default in mind and deduct only if there's error.. The Japanese judges give scores with 0 by default in mind and only add the points from there if there's something done outstandingly.. That's the difference in the mindset in general between the Westerners and Asians we found..
can't disagree with you, Yuzuru Hanyu's score should be higher given the jumps, spins and the artistry. I found that Nathan does not have the transition after each jumps into the steps as Yuzuru does. Nathan is stopping his schooling completely to focus on skating for the Olympic 2022 whereas Yuzuru was able to manage both study and skating since 2015. He won two Olympic Gold . Also Yuzuru did a lot of public relation for Japan and Sendai where as Nathan is just focusing in training and in school. He does not need to represent USA in the international level as Yuzuru does for Japan. I was really impressed during my time in Sendai, Japan 2019 and saw what Hanyu has done for his hometown. He is not just a skater but also a very special young man.

@@ruthmorales9533 I took my family to Sendai in 2019 just to visit the hometown and to see the devastation of the 2011 earthquake. we were touch with all the rebuilding efforts from the citizens and from Yuzuru. He has put his heart and soul into motivating the people of Sendai and the businesses staying to rebuild the city, the schools, libraries and all the infrastructure. The people of Sendai speak highly of Yuzuru and so respectful. He is their light and we can see why he continues to skate to this day. Not for himself but for those who need hope to move on. Thank you. not until you come to Sendai that you can feel the deepest feeling of being alive and healthy. I brought my children from California and I am so glad I did. They learn and are more appreciative especially during this Covid Pandemic.

Amazing that the difference between the Russian girls and the Japanese guys is the triple axels. With triple axels, their TES would be in the same tier!
Yeah despite the criticism on the technique etc, can't deny the fact that the Russian girls are doing such an incredible job in showing the world that whatever guys can do, girls can do too!

Entre Nacionales Rusos y Japoneses...me quedo con los Nacionales Rusos, todas sus categorías muy competitivas y con excelentes patinadores en Danza, Parejas, Varones y Damas.

The underscoring and overscoring 😭
Thank you for the video, it's both entertaining and educational. I realized that Eteri's ladies don't include layback spin to FS, in order to maximize their marks (and it's a pity as I LOVE layback spins so much...) and that it's not true what some fans say that with the same PCS factor for both men and ladies Russian ladies would be better than men (and I don't think Misha got his PCS only because judges love him...).
If I can complain: you mislead viewers by the "dialog" between Sasha and Kamila during the step sequence part: it's not like Sasha's StSq is choreographed to get level 3 (and Plushenko doesn't know the scoring system). All StSq are choreographed to get level 4, but skaters can't fulfill all elements to get the level. Eteri's choreo didn't help Sasha in the past as she got lower level several times (and the same is true for Anna, Aliona and other skaters under Eteri).
Wow thanks for clarification here. I wonder why Shoma got only level 2, then Yuzu and Sasha got only level 3.. So it's all because they had mistake in their programs and wasn't able to fulfil the choreographed elements?
@@chunghuey113 Everything can happen during a performance: a skater can stumble or just make an edge too flat or can be steamed off and skip an element... The keyword for StSq is: difficult, so I imagine it's struggling for features. For example for level 4 a skater should do "Two different combinations of 3 difficult turns on different feet executed with continuous flow within
the sequence" and it's enough to state lack of "continuous flow" to downgrade the level.
@@ria3817 Interesting. So here I have a question, I like Yuzuru's new LP and i watched multiple times. I notice his step sequence has a stop where he had a very nice post.. (Kinda around 13:55 - 14:21 in this video. The stop with the nice post happened at around 14:05 in this video) Then the commentator said "Here comes his step sequence".. It really makes me feel like its the choreography which caused him to get level 3 in Stsq, because the loops and turns before that 14:05 will not be counted or it will be stated as lack of "continuous flow" (For the nice posture I love at 14:05- 14:06 there..) What do u think about it?
Thanks for your words of encouragement. Yeah agree. Definitely all the skaters have the programs choreographed with the level 4 in spins and stsq in mind. The fan-imaginative dialogues are designed to add the drama and entertainment instead of educational :P Actually just to add in the clarification, the designed "dialog" at the Sasha and Kamila on the second jumps (2A,2A) vs (3Lo,2A) was also wrong if taken seriously. Coz Sasha couldn't have done another triple jump there with her layout coz they can only repeat maximum 1 triple + 1 quad jumps..

11:49 me he tardado alrededor de 6 minutos en ver si Hanyu completó los 3 giros en cada figura, y la última figura, por 3.25 giros, que es imperceptible sin cámara lenta fue anulada???? O sea se excedió .25 en el tercer giro y por eso puntuo cero???.
El patinaje artístico es un deporte muy caro para practicarlo, y los ojos humanos no están capacitados para calificar este tipo de deporte. Simplemente se necesita la tecnología precisa existente para hacer de esto un juego limpio nuevamente y honorable (si es que alguna vez lo fue)

Вот сейчас показали кто сколько набирает баллов, а когда в России соревнования все скрытно бывает и люди спорят, гадают кто лучше, всегда бы показывали, как на соревнованиях в Японии, наверно у нас судьям так удобнее регулировать баллы кому сколько

@@ЛинаДонецкая у японцев сбоку написаны заработанные баллы, а потом и маршрут катания, а у нас общий балл и эти воздушные компоненты, кот ставятся судя по тренеру или ещё непонятно как

Interesting competition ( maybe, one day, we'll see it for real ). Truth is, Russian ladies are way better than Russian men, at the moment, and they can easily beat most of the men of the world. But, what I do not understand is why the base value of the same technical elements are different for men's competition from the ladies' ?
No, the BV is actually the same. The difference is in PCS: ladies' factor is 1.6 while men's 2.0.

If yes perhaps it’s due to the jumps being put in second half (10% bonus) or under rotation call etc.. definitely not because it’s the difference for men and ladies.. if u recall some feel free to write here and we can study it together :)
