Hello Joel, I been living in Shanghai for 10 years and my wife in from Tia'an country side. Very similar where your wife is from. Happy to see these Chinese videos. Have a great weekend.
Hey Johan, wow, thanks for taking time to write! I do not reognize the name Tia'an, I will have to go check a map right now... glad you are enjoying this one, and I hope to see you for another China video next week!
What an interesting video! I'm pretty sure I can answer your topical titular question! Based on the t-shirt I saw her wearing, I think your wife is from Kansas City! My favorite item from the village: the gas station.
Im always glad reading the things you notice, sometimes I even have to go back and enjoy them again :). Li had a good one right there... IAN! Always great to see you man, this is definitely the type of video Im most happy to share and, yeah I assume you would find lots of cool and interesting things in here as well. What a day!! What an experience. Weeks later and its still such a daily gift in my thought process, my daily gratitude in many ways, but also in general just yet another bond that Li and I have together. Thanks for the message man!!! Maybe see you on Sunday!!
I love the food scene in China, there are soooo many dishes and the amount of food that is available is crazy. I still haven't learned to pace myself at family gatherings because I'm so used to just eating all at once. One of the things that is going to take a while to get used to is the non-refrigerating of food after its cooked. My wife is from Hangzhou and her parents would cook so much food and they would place a large plastic bowl over all the food. We would then eat the leftovers the next day. It takes a while to get used to eating food like that, but I am excited to move to Hangzhou and experience the Chinese lifestyle again.
Hey Joel. This video struck a chord with me. My father passed away 17 years ago and my brother bought his house, the house that I grew up in. For a long time, the house stayed empty until my brother and his wife decided to renovate it. It was completely stripped back to the wood frame and it was at this point I visited and had a look. Like I said, it was just a wood frame at that point, yet each "room" that I walked into elicited a different, but very clear memory and watching Li walk around her Grandmother's house reminded me so much of that experience. It was quite emotional for me too.
Jason I am reading this for a second time now, really appreciate it man. I do get what you are saying, yeah our minds are just so powerful! The things they hold as plain fact, but then the things we hold on to as so important just to US... and then everything that can come about carrying these memories until we actually physically return to a place where these events were born. Wow. Thank you again for taking time to share your own view with us!!
I appreciate the emotion and sentiment here. My wife is from a rice farming village in Cambodia and when we visit it’s the same for me as it is for you visiting there. A lot of laughter and tears. Sometimes all at once. I can only imagine what is going though Li’s head. We are going this summer and staying for a month. I can’t wait.
Steven, no way! Soon, this is soon, what a cool thing coming up, so much to look forward to!! Hey thanks a lot for taking time to write and share some of the things you're excited about right now. Thanks for spending time with us, hope to offer some more good videos in this series. Catch you soon, have a great day today!!
Why do western men flock to Asia taking advatnage of naive Asian people to marry Asian women? worst of all, most of these western men are worse then the local men. Don't they have women in their own countries? this is so sick
It is a special post because Joel and Li were not ashamed to show the reality of Li'upbringing. A lot of people would not do it but I am glad that Li' upbringing strengthen her to strive for excellence. Enjoy your day
BIANCHI!!! Yes, YES! Haha thats the sound of me cheering out loud :). Yes, you have indeed watched pretty much every thing/post/video I've made, thank you for loving this one, thanks for joining with us today.
Max, wow, thank you for a very special comment as well. Im gonna sit here and enjoy that for a minute (and thanks to God yet again for introducing us to you, you to us).
I am Thai, my grand parent came from Cheghai district near Shantou. I first visited my uncle and councils in 2019. It was dream come true, fortunately the old village was still there, make me imagine how life was in the past history. Nice country side, fresh air, love it, I may spend more time there after retirement.
Joel, thanks for sharing these warm family moments with us. Believe it or not, my wife teared up watching this video. She's from China and it's been 3 years since we've visited her parents due to the pandemic. We're planning a two-week trip this October and honestly, I wish it was sooner. If I may inquire, did you enter on a tourist visa or a family visa (Q1, Q2)? Looking forward to more family videos and local food, yes food!
Good morning..❤ thank you so much for this beautiful vlog. Your video make me feel im there and understand how it feels to be there. God bless you and family. Lots of loves from Janggut 40, Marudi Sarawak
Good Morning Li & Joel & a Blessed Sixth Sunday of Easter in which today's readings included: 1 Pt 3:15, "Beloved; Sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts. Always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you for a reason for your hope, but do it with gentleness and reverence... " I will enjoy this video knowing you are at home in the countryside with Li's Family. As today is "Mother's Day" in the USA it is fitting that we see you visiting Li's Mother. Peace be with You & the entire BruCrew. Have a Blessed week!
I look forward to hearing about your lesson from the scriptures. Please keep sharing and stand firm on the promise of Jesus Christ that he will come again soon.
@@maxf3253 The verse from 1st Peter (3:15) is a classic apologetics challenge for us Christians. How wonderful for you to see another facet of the beautiful Li. Thanks for sharing this with us. I’m glad your trip was filled with heartfelt moments ❤
Super Interesting! Thank You!! Also yes always take a moment to ask our elders questions while we can. There is so much knowledge & experience there to learn from & so interesting too!
This video is one of best ones you’ve done Joel .. visiting li’s family ancestral home , meeting her side of the family . Quite emotional because one can imagine the hardships of her childhood , living conditions which was common back then . Humbling . I love their idea of extending the family compound for future generations . Thanks for taking us along .
wow joel for a min i stepped back thinking did i miss something when i saw a baby thinking like did i miss a video🤔 you became a dad lo😆😆l but then i realized baby was her sisters !🤪
Mennooooooo YO! Dude, thanks for all the support these years, thanks for joining us for this special vid today. It was a DAY, a great day for sure, thanks again for taking time to write.
Joel and Li thank you for sharing Li families and roots with us.This make me think your ready for your own little family. amazing to see to the country side and homes she lived in. This video is priceless 💕😀🙏🥰
Deneen! You are awesome. Awesome!!! Thank you for always sharing such beautiful inspiration, thanks for the words today. We are looking forward to hanging out on Sunday as well
Thank you for sharing this lovely family video with us, much appreciated. This is a real and tangible example of the 700-800 millions Chinese who moved out of absolute poverty in one generation . It also showed China as a developing and not a developed country. Not all have entered the middle class yet, many are still at the poverty level, or lower middle class. Especially at the rural villages and the northwest. Life will be better for many more in another 20 years if China is not forced into a war or be invaded again. All hardworking people need are law and order, stability, opportunity, and vision from their leaders to succeed Wish them all luck and prosperity
Lovely video again. Wis i could be there but its not easy to enter China. Thank you for being our eyes. Take good care and God bless you always.. You are such a sweet couple.
Gino, a very wonderful comment. Understanding and caring and supportive, thank you for taking the time to write today!! I wish all the best for you, and hey if you have time come to hang out with us for a few minutes Sunday morning at 8am Thailand time (we have a weekly livestream)
My wife is from Yizhou City in GuangXi Province. Lots of good memories from when I visited her village and so very similar to your wife’s home town. I can feel everything you’re experiencing in your video as I have lived it too. Such a wonderful time in my past life. Thank you for sharing.
So great to see Joel and Li!!! Wonderful experience and new memories!!!💞🤗Adorable kids, family. God bless everyone. Li..next year will you have some good news for us 😊💞
Angieeeeee HI! I hope you have the most wonderful day Angie, I will tell you something cool right now haha you are the 100th comment that I have answered in a row :). And it looks like its the best for last!!! Rock on Angie, I hope youre having a great day! I am gonna go drink some beetroot juice right now, then maybe another cup of coffee, and then get on to the next video
Until next week Mrs Maxine, and as always it is SO GREAT, so good to see all the love that you have to share with so many of us. Myself included, I am simply a spectator at times as well. Thanks for what you do for this community!
I so appreciate this video, I think this is your best one yet!! Thanks for sharing and a great big thank you to Li for opening up her ancestral home and allowing us to ‘visit’. Thanks Li!! I’m convinced there’s great wealth and happiness in poverty. I grew up very poor and can relate to everything you just shared with us. We didn’t know we were poor until “good” people told us so and decided to point out how we were lacking. But thank goodness my grandparents and parents ignored all that nonsense and brought us up to study and work hard and to be grateful and happy with what we achieve. And we were very happy!! Pearl River is branded on everything it seems - never seen Pearl River beer but I was using my Pearl River Soy Sauce and Oyster Sauce as I was stir frying my veggies. 😂😂 Much love and appreciation 🥰🥰🥰
Your post is beautiful and thank you for sharing a part of your upbringing. Anyway who thinks that monies begin happiness is so wrong!. Love, manners, respect, having a dream, education, giving and most importantly faith in Jesus Christ are some of the best qualities that =happiness . I love you my sister 💞
@@maxf3253 Thank you Max. These days it seems money, wealth, power and ‘influence’ (the new catch phrase) are the only means for getting ahead but in my book (the one with the capital B) they’re no substitute for love, respect, good manners, integrity, compassion and generosity … and the greatest of these … is Love. Much Love and love you too my sister and friend!! 🥰🥰🥰
The love and hospitality in this video. Very nice of our wife to encourage you to bring the camera. I enjoyed watching the country side dishes and views. I met a lot of chinese people when I visited Thailand 2017 and they were nice to me. I was a party monster then hahahaha. Im looking forward to my next visit nearly next year
Hi Joel... Ive been away for quite awhile! Good to be back with this video....wish 1day I will get a chance to visit the places of my ancestors...Taishan n Fujien.

Congrats Joel & family... I haven't watched you in 2 yrs b/c I was on my own journey. Glad to see you & your family are doing well. Wow!! Little Joel!!! Congrats!
DANG! Go life, your message is awesome, and welcome back, BUT haha you are totally looking at the thumbnail on that one... ok, just giving you a hard time, it happens sometimes. It WAS indeed great to meet our newest nephew though, he is so cute! And visiting his house (and Li's house) was amazing for sure.
Well well, :) I guess I missed the chance to start something fun, not an easter egg but... what is it called, the way that Marvel always wait until after the credits and then leave some more video at the very end of "the video?"
Wow! So glad Li convinced you to bring the camera! This was so great to see where Li comes from and really awesome to watch you getting to experience it as well. Thanks for bringing us along! Li's excitement to be home is fun to watch ❤
The love for Joel and Li has grown stronger because they were courageous in sharing such personal information. Thanks for your support always and have a lovely week.
So sweet, the birthday shout out to Grandma' at the end! I was having a down morning but your-all's positive energy and the love that comes through really brightened my day! What a fascinating place! It is really special to get to visit Li's family and their compound. I want to do Biogas now! (some day, maybe.) Really amazing seeing the old buildings (and old people) and the evolution of the building to the final level of the unfinished part waiting for those babies to grow up! Love how the sections of the old house(s) all came together in a central open space where the "good vibes" would gather. Do you know why the fields around them are all curved and like crescent or kidney shaped? Is that possibly a Feng Shui thing too?
Ive read your comment now three times this morning, finally coming to respond :). Don. Awesome man, just, so awesome. Don't know what to say! Its a blessing to me to be able to share this and know that it helped you today with some perspective? some inspiration? just some fun? all of it good and wonderful, man thats SO MUCH for always supporting me.
Such a sweet video ❤. Loved Joel’s look of appreciation for Li’s family’s homegrown rice. And loved seeing Li’s grandma and her ancestral village. Loquats and mangoes from Guangxi are very tasty!!

Beautiful comment and you are spot on. We tend to see the nice side of most UA-camr but not the 'real' side. Have a great week
So so sweet of acknowledging my mom.

All hardworking people need are law and order, stability, opportunity, and vision from their leaders to succeed
Wish them all luck and prosperity
Beautifully said, have a great week
Wonderful, thanks for sharing my hometown China

Thank you Joel for the beautiful video . I love to see how other in other countries live. Really so beautiful ❤
Thankyou for sharing. That was really really interesting. A BIG HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your grandma Joel 🎂🎂😁
It was a beautiful and from the heart post. Enjoy a wonderful week 😊
The love and hospitality in this video. Very nice of our wife to encourage you to bring the camera. I enjoyed watching the country side dishes and views. I met a lot of chinese people when I visited Thailand 2017 and they were nice to me. I was a party monster then hahahaha. Im looking forward to my next visit nearly next year
I love this message!!!!!! :) :) :) Just saying, hahah I have read it a few times, I love it.

Ok so! WHERE were you for 2 years?!?! Amazing journey Im sure, wow.
I was hoping for a Weezer song at the end. You gave us the "Green Day" Happy Birthday song. More guitar Joel!
Well well, :) I guess I missed the chance to start something fun, not an easter egg but... what is it called, the way that Marvel always wait until after the credits and then leave some more video at the very end of "the video?"
I dont think my Grandma knows Weezer but, ROCK ON Doug, Weezer may or may not be constantly playing in my heart all the time anyways.
Love it! Enjoy!
TYY, thanks so much! Have a great day!
Man! you are living in the wonderful life... love the countryside

Thank you for sharing.🙏
So appreciated. Enjoy the day
So sweet, the birthday shout out to Grandma' at the end!
Ah! and I do not know about the shapes of the rice fields, very good question!! I will find out for you by the next livestream :)
The foods look so delicious Joel. You can’t get that kind of foods here in the USA. Thank you for sharing your video. God bless you all. 🙏🙏🙏🙏💕
