One of the questions that is asked is have you ever been denied insurance coverage…. I feel that Porsche should take the car back and give you your money back.The car is not fit for purpose. I am unsure if after the recall that your issue with the insurance companies and what they will cover ie will they cover you… Porsche may have their own insurance company which you might be able to insure…

My brother works for a motor dealership that sells Mazda, Hyundai and KIA. They have closed down the KIA and Hyundai new car sales due to the governments new electric vehicle quotas they have to achieve. They now sell only second hand vehicles, also, all new vehicles in the show rooms have been pre-registered. They have had staff lay offs in all dealerships. These electric cars are crippling the motor industry. This is what Stamer and the WEF want, that is their end game no personal transport, 15 minute neighbourhoods etc. Its time the British public woke up they are sleepwalking into a nightmare future.

Was priced at $2,500 a RollsRoyce was priced at $25,000. Add another grand to the Rolls. Which is the price of a very good used house. Now that same one ton pickup truck is priced at $100,000 or more. The $2,500 pickup trucks were built a lot more reliable. Than todays $100,000 disposible under 100,000 mile pickup trucks.
Many repairers cannot get insurance to repair EVs and with the number of dealerships burnt recently they too will not get insurance,, or if they do with very high premiums. Two Porsche dealers in the UK, BYD [burn your dealership] in China regularly
As for other insurers, they will ask "have you ever been refused insurance or had it cancelled." If you're on finance and can't get it insured, your beef is surely with the finance company. Hand the car back. How can they sue you for any balance if the car isn't fit for purpose i,e. uninsurable?
That's what I have a 2014 matrix .no direct injection. No cvt trans .no led head or tail lights .no front or back cameras .all these things make the car much less reliable another bonus i have a key ignition so won t be stolen.

Definitely get legal advice. Porshe have miss sold you an unsafe car, especially with them admitting in the letter about the problem with the batteries. A very expensive mess and it's not your fault. The only reason they sent the letter is to.cover themselves incase the car catches fire and you or anyone else gets seriously injured or worse so in a way they're covering themselves - but at the same time that letter is evidence that the car is faulty
Worth looking into legal options. Just wait until others have the same issues irrespective of car brand. If insurance companies stop insuring people all hell will break loose. The government will need todo something - then again they might double down

Soooo, when it is finally resolved and you do any insurance comparison you will be asked the question "have you had any insurance refused or cancelled?" to which you will then have ro answer "yes" and no quote will be provided It will then have to be individually quoted by each companies underwriter - an utter nightmare

Take it back it's not fit for purpose! Under product liability laws, manufacturers and suppliers of electric vehicles must ensure that their products are safe and free from defects. If a defective product causes harm to the consumer, the manufacturer may be held liable for the resulting damages.

If you were able to get insured to drive your car with another car insurance company, and rely on the Insurance company's own risk assessment for policy premium purposes (i.e. ... not disclose your Porsche letter) and, heaven forbid, you became involved in a road traffic collision, the insurance companies risk assessor will surely be aware of the types of get-out 'disclosure' clauses that may be available, and you could potentially find yourself liable, but uninsured, due to your non-disclosure ! !
This does not count as being 'refused insurance'. If it were his policy would've been cancelled already; that is more about the personal behaviour of the individual i.e. did they lie about something. His insurer have simply decided not to quote for a new policy after the current one expires because it's outside their risk criteria. This happens all the time if you use comparison sites you will see not every company will choose to offer you a policy - this is not the same as being refused.
Technically you could say Lee has not been refused insurance, it's the car they are refusing to insure. If he wanted to insure a different vehicle they would take his business.
So if you try to insure a vehicle type they don't insure like a van for example, and they refuse to supply a quote, do you then have to tell all insurers you were refused insurance.?.?

So if one underwriter refuses insurance, then you are likely not getting insurance again, even if you were to build a fire proof garage 100 meters from any building, you ain't getting insured.

The biggest kick in the nuts about this is that when you approach another insurer you will have to answer the question _ Have you ever been refused insurance ? Your truthful answer will be Yes. This automatically effects your ability to insure, even if you are going for a petrol.
I would take Porsche to court ... if its a recall I would drop it at their showroom and ask for full refund. This is the start of things going pear shape for the EV ..

The possible reason would be tjat if your neighbours EV causes a fire, it could also set fire to your house, so having a neighbour with an EV could be a bigger risk for your house, thus sending your premiums up !!!

So I doubt he could just hand it back and to avoid potential charges he would need to sell it but is in massive negative equity so wouldn't be able to do that either

2015 Consumer Rights Act means the product should be fit for purpose and the electric vehicle being uninsurable due to manufacturing issues means the retailer is responsible and the manufacturer is responsible to the vehicle dealer.

Supplying dealer or local one doesn’t want to know, and neither does Hyundai finance who estimate the new batteries are not available due to a backlog and could be many months.. Not fit for purpose but they still expect to be paid in full for a dangerous POS…
I would say that you would have a case in law against the dealer that sold it to you. If it’s less than 6 months old then they have to prove it’s fit for purpose. If it’s less than 30k then you also have a claim against the finance companies.
The problem is, once they acknowledge it publicly that's when you lose your insurance. If they don't acknowledge it, the insurance company likely won't cancel your insurance. Hyundai is probably doing their customers a favor.
Ok so all cars on UK roads must have insurance. BUT Electric cars are probably becoming uninsureable. Regardless of which, The govt is mandating electric vehicles, and taxing petrol vehicles to get rid of them . Do l have that right????...????
The issue is only with Porsche and Jaguar. Having bad design from two companies doesn't affect BMW, Tesla etc. ICE cars are often recalled for fire risk.

I just bought a used Mercedes V6 diesel, it will be on the road many years longer than many newer EV's

If you were able to get insured to drive your car with another car insurance company, and rely on the Insurance company's own risk assessment for policy premium purposes (i.e. ... not disclose your Porsche letter) and, heaven forbid, you became involved in a road traffic collision, the insurance companies risk assessor will surely be aware of the types of get-out 'disclosure' clauses that may be available, and you could potentially find yourself liable, but uninsured, due to your non-disclosure ! !

This does not count as being 'refused insurance'. If it were his policy would've been cancelled already; that is more about the personal behaviour of the individual i.e. did they lie about something. His insurer have simply decided not to quote for a new policy after the current one expires because it's outside their risk criteria. This happens all the time if you use comparison sites you will see not every company will choose to offer you a policy - this is not the same as being refused.
Technically you could say Lee has not been refused insurance, it's the car they are refusing to insure. If he wanted to insure a different vehicle they would take his business.
So if you try to insure a vehicle type they don't insure like a van for example, and they refuse to supply a quote, do you then have to tell all insurers you were refused insurance.?.?

I got a mate here in Australia that is taking Mercedes to court as his EV only gets 60-70% range of what was stated.
One of the questions you’ll be asked on a new quote will be “have you been refused insurance” so your stuck between a rock and a hard place, surely this car is not fit for purpose and should be returned for a refund.

So if one underwriter refuses insurance, then you are likely not getting insurance again, even if you were to build a fire proof garage 100 meters from any building, you ain't getting insured.

The biggest kick in the nuts about this is that when you approach another insurer you will have to answer the question _ Have you ever been refused insurance ? Your truthful answer will be Yes. This automatically effects your ability to insure, even if you are going for a petrol.

There is not a section in your declaration that asks you about your neighbours lifestyles.

The possible reason would be tjat if your neighbours EV causes a fire, it could also set fire to your house, so having a neighbour with an EV could be a bigger risk for your house, thus sending your premiums up !!!

I said from day 1, anyone buying a EV will regret it, children mining the minerals as slaves, no infrastructure in place, closing down of Nuclear power plants just as demand increases, issues with batteries, diesel generators chargingnEV's etc, etc, etc, I could go on and on. Jaguar recalled 3000 EVS and paid in full the owners what they paid so Porse should do the same.
You won’t be able to insure it through another insurer as a standard question is have you ever been declined insurance & the answer to it is YES! As soon as you say that, they’ll avoid you like the plague!

If Porsche have produced a car that is unable to be insured then Porsche have produced a car that is not fit for purpose and should refund your purchase price.
One of the questions for insurance is: "Have you ever been refused insurance?". To answer "Yes" may make it more challenging to get insurance.
Technically he hasn't yet applied for another year's cover so hasn't been refused. So if a new company asks if he has been refused cover he can truthfully say 'No'. Because he hasn't officially applied for cover.

@Un-Apologetic PCP doesn't work the same as HP, 50% takes into account the balloon payment also, so he would need to have paid 60k off before handing it back but he has also broke the terms of his agreement with the amount of mileage. So I doubt he could just hand it back and to avoid potential charges he would need to sell it but is in massive negative equity so wouldn't be able to do that either

2015 Consumer Rights Act means the product should be fit for purpose and the electric vehicle being uninsurable due to manufacturing issues means the retailer is responsible and the manufacturer is responsible to the vehicle dealer.
While that may be the law, try to get Porchse to admit this.

At least Porsche acknowledged the problem and are willing to do something..Unlike Hyundai who refuse to acknowledge the battery problem which is leading to a worldwide recall. My Nephew had 20 seconds warning to get on dual carriageway hard shoulder before a complete shutdown in his Ioniq 5. Supplying dealer or local one doesn’t want to know, and neither does Hyundai finance who estimate the new batteries are not available due to a backlog and could be many months.. Not fit for purpose but they still expect to be paid in full for a dangerous POS…

I would say that you would have a case in law against the dealer that sold it to you. If it’s less than 6 months old then they have to prove it’s fit for purpose. If it’s less than 30k then you also have a claim against the finance companies.
The problem is, once they acknowledge it publicly that's when you lose your insurance. If they don't acknowledge it, the insurance company likely won't cancel your insurance.

The issue is only with Porsche and Jaguar. Having bad design from two companies doesn't affect BMW, Tesla etc. ICE cars are often recalled for fire risk.
