Thank you for taking the time to showcase some of the sounds on the Akai MPC Key 61. This gives different musicians a chance to hear what kind of sound engineering, patches, tone bank, sounds and modification it is capable of. I think based on the light weight and the amount of sounds in the library it is well rounded. It will work for me on tour, studio or live and easy to transport back and forth to gigs. My few questions are, "Can it layer multiple sounds or plug-ins and what is the polyphony when playing multiple sounds?" Beyond those questions, I feel that this is an excellent keyboard and will revolutionize the keyboard Workstation stage. This is a great start but if Akai is listening I think an 88 key weighted with a flip up screen like the MPC X encoders with Q-Link knobs and dedicated OLED will up the game. Light weight 88 key is important with a PHA50 EQUIVALENT QUALITY for professional keyboardist. I HOPE korg, Roland or Yamaha is also listening. The market is there and that is why the Akai Key 61 is sold out.
Yes, you could layer and split. But in my opinion, if you're looking for an all-purpose keyboard for live use, you're probably better with a classic workstation from Korg, Yamaha, Roland or Kurzweil. However, if you want a perfect production machine with sampling and a comprehensively equipped sequencer to audio recording and virtual instruments - the mpc key is exactly the right one🤘🏻🎛🎹

How is it with iPad/laptop integration? Can iPad auv3s be used seamlessly and come out of Mpc key 61? Can sounds from vst be mixed in with akai sounds?
I think, the concept is intended to be different. On the software side, there would be no problem. But some hardware controllers are missing on the MPC Key...Great is you can integrate many cheaper USB controllers directly to the mpc key...🎹🎛🍻
I Agree with part I have the KKS49MK2 and it is a True Smart Controller built in Hui protocol for all daws and light Guide Shows you what keys have samples and what type of sample your going to trigger! I also love my Key61 and Live2 as the Brains for starting on Work and NI still Holds the 👑 with Real Tine Wrap and Time stretching. But the Key61 is a Producers Composers Dream.🫡💯
Now how was Akai able to put out these killer sounds out of the blue, and companies like Roland still can't do a piano, EP, organ, clav, whirlys, etc..?
I think they were too focused on DAW integration and let the marketing guys run a music company just like the record labels. Forget actual music creation, just sell something. LOL I agree these are killer sounds and Im not just saying that.. I own several keyboards including MODX big Fantom and Korg Krome and can say first hand the Akai has already edited the sounds so well that you dont have to do anything but create.

This is a really great demo of the sounds in this, I'm really interested in this keyboard. One thing I cannot get a straight answer on is whether any of the content that was in the previous MPC hardware (by that I mean anything that isn't one of these new plugins like Fabric, Stage Piano etc) is that also included in the MPC Key or do you have to purchase it separately?
@@Synthboutique dude thank you so much. I've watched dozens of videos on different channels and been asking the same question and you're the first to answer. Thank you. 🙏
The X runs out of memory very quickly with new plugins. Can you confirm if you can run many plugins and even audio tracks - On X wasn't able to even get single song before running out of resources. By the time I wanted to bounce to audio there was no RAM left to achieve this.
Hey from the official videos I heard this has 4GB of RAM, compared to the 2GB of all the other MPCs and Force so far. And it wouldn't make sense to buy these plugins for the older MPCs except for the FM synth, or unless you use the MPC software as these ones especially Fabric XL are memory hogs. The limit for plugins and audio tracks should still be the same I believe 8 each, and probably won't change as that is more related to CPU, which is still the same as before. However, you could expect disk streaming in a future MPC update like the Force now has, which does not increase the track count limit, but massively increases the amount of samples you can load in a project. On the Force now, while you can still only have 8 Audio Tracks, these can have an almost endless amount of loops on them, so you can pretty much play entire sets.
@@anupjsebastian Agree - I wish these companies offered upgradeable memory options - If they are going to offer plugins that are so resource intensive, and gear with audio track limitations then we need ability to increase RAM substantially.
@@stevenb9209 Yeah... its not that simple though. The ram is part of the board, and its not exactly the exact same type as you would find on your PC, plus having that kind of support would make then need to account for all sorts of variables and reliability issues. For the most part if you produce in the same spot, its best to just keep it plugged into a pc as it gets rid of any limitations, plus way faster loading times etc, and you can completely work off the hardware. For a portable setup, in my opinion the CPU and RAM is pretty much good enough to get your ideas started and sketched out, and you can connect it to a PC to develop it further. I personally find the NI Maschines (not the maschine plus) better as a portable solution, as even though you need a laptop, the Maschine itself can be powered by USB bus power and doesn't need a separate power supply. You can pretty much keep the laptop closed, imagine it is a battery bank (if that bothers you), and can completely work off of the hardware (atleast with the MK3) You are not limited at all in terms of cpu/ram, plus for the price you pay for these new MPC plugins alone you can get the entire Komplete bundle (which sound much better and give you way more). Even better value if you get it during one of their summer sale bundles with hardware, which they do every year. You get a much longer battery life.
