    STORY
Atop a mystifying hill in France, we stumbled upon a forgotten 17th-century castle, once we made our way inside we were perplexed by what we encountered, the entire castle was still furnished from top to bottom. While going through the artifacts in the castle we figured out the history of the former owners that called this place home.
Discover the captivating tale of Maurin, heir to a centuries-old lineage rooted in wealth and mystery within their ancestral castle. With a penchant for exploration, Maurin ventured into the depths of Africa, drawn by its rich history and exotic wildlife. Little did he know that amidst his travels, he would encounter the love of his life.
Returning to France with his newfound partner, Maurin, and his beloved wife embarked on a new chapter within the walls of his family's ancient stronghold. Together, they raised a family, nurturing four children amid history and grandeur.
However, tragedy struck with Maurin's passing, leaving his younger fiancée to depart, leaving the castle to a haunting silence. Since 2002, the once-vibrant halls have stood abandoned, shrouded in the enigmatic legacy of the Maurin family.
Join us as we uncover the secrets, love, and untold history behind the desolate beauty of Maurin's ancestral castle, frozen in time.

It always fascinates me how the French treat other people's property with respect. No vandalism, just natural decay.⏳️🥀 I've said it many times, but you guys are the best. It is a real privilege to watch your videos. No matter how bad a day I had, they heal the soul. ❤

Another adventure into a French castle. So many treasures left behind. The pictures. Why would you leave family memories behind? This is a real time capsule. So many unique antiques. Give the place a good dusting, and rearrange the furniture, and it could be livable. Thank You, Lesley and Danny for your patience, and great filming. Your respect for the property shows in your narration, and careful examinations of the objects.

What you call "adventure" the law calls "trespassing".
Why you would go through others' family memories uninvited is the real question.

Again, a great video. The overhead light in the dining is made from a (never to be used again!) spinning wheel. Also the light in the old kitchen was recycled from an oxen yoke. I really like the way this family upcycled there un-useful items into something new and purposeful. That chair on the landing of the stairs was placed by window. Do you suppose that the family members may have used that to observe nature or the comings/goings of visitors? It was kinda strange to see the sewing machine in the parlour...can't imagine those kind of chores being done in a formal living room. You do such an excellent job documenting these place of interest. Thank you so much for keep all your viewers entertained, Leslie and Danny.

Hi Lesley and Danny, I have to say when you showed the picture of the chateau back in the day, to now, what a huge difference. It will always amaze me, on how this could happen. Over the years of following you, you have told us, due to taxes, money, whatever, is to why these beautiful homes become abandoned. However, it is still sad, especially when there are photographs left behind. I wonder what year the original wallpaper was put up, it looked in perfect condition. What a great find thanks guys. Love from N.Y

The pictures that you described as being embroidered, including the brightly-colored one, were done by needlepoint, not embroidery. Some of the tapestries could have been woven, whereas others could be needlepoint. Someone draws a design on canvas and prepares a corresponding graph showing the colors of yarn to be used, and then another person does the actual needlepoint. There are several types of stitches that can be used in making a needlepoint picture or tapestry.

Another great job Lesley ans Danny. This one is never comming back. After his death no onewanted to live there. I wonder how many people lived there through the years. Who built it ? I hope for the most part they all were happy. We will never know. That flintlock looked really old. To bad all the antiques are rotting away. When there all gone there gone for ever. Never to return. Thats something I just dont understand. Very sad. I haved watched bros of decay for years now. You two always get me. Good job Stay safe See you next week.

Hi Lesley, When you were looking at the bedroom with the long pictures on the bed (at 1:02:24), that had the photo on the bottom left corner, it looks like someone had broken out the glass and stole the war medal that was on the top right. There's only a shadow left of it. It Irks me when someone steals something precious like that.

This is an incredible place. Nothing can beat French castles. Well, Portuguese manors, maybe.
A bit clarification about the spears. A javelin is made fro throwing, and a spear is used in hand-to-hand combat. So the small one with the arrow head is a javelin, the others are spears.

Hi Lesley & Danny, 😊 Wow, Abandoned 17th Century Castle in France!!
It was a Real Shame that Everything is Left to Decay!! The Village should come in & Save Everything!!
My Opinion is the Father had All the Paintings he did & Furniture from France & the son Patrick had the Chinese Things, &
the Mother was African & All the Stuff & Including the African Room was from the Mother!!
@ 8:06 on the Banister of the stairs was a Leopard Skin!!
@ 41:57 that thing was for Maps, Scriptures or Paintings!!
    @ 42:59 was a Helmet...maybe from the War!!
@ 45:52 this headpiece with Horns was from a Mountain Goat!!
    @ 46:04 Goat Hanger
@ 46:28 Largest Bee Hive, I Ever Seen!!
@ 105:29 Danny was Right it is a Fox!!
Now I Loved so Many Things in this Castle: Puffy Fish, Shells, Wall Paintings, Butterfly Pictures, Carved Chairs, Dressers, Dishes, Lights & Chandelier, Chinese Paper Umbrella on the Ceiling with Leaf Design & All the Embroidery Pictures!!
Thanks Lesley & Danny for the Absolutely Beautiful Castle Tour & for Both Your Info on It!!❤

What you are referring to as embroidery is called Needlepoint.
What you refer to as a Knitting Box is actually a Sewing Box or Sewing Kit. Knitting requires Yarn. Sewing, thread.
    I'm a quilter. And I do Needlepoint.
Love the adventures you 2 take us on!!!! Please continue.

Very cozy atmosphere. I love the hard lighting created in the dark small rooms by your camera light because you are closer to the objects which forms dark shadows on the walls. It adds to the eerie atmosphere. I remember Franks currency growing up in Belgium in the 1970's and 1980's. Yes that Islamic stone building is in Mecca but it is called the Kabbah. I also find the picture of the dark wolf like animal chained at the leg interesting. It looks like one of those supernatural red eye werewolves that many people report seeing. I also saw three of them in the 1990's. Those VHS tapes are like yesterday to me. More interesting is the earlier 20th century objects and pictures which I agree are likely to be the owners parents. It makes me wonder what his parents from that earlier time period would have made of the interracial marriage of their son with an African woman.
