Did the car use a lot of oil? I have an 05 Touareg, which is in need of the PCV anyway; it is indeed sucking air from that port. But it is also using way too much oil between changes; nearly three quarts. Crankcase overpressure cause that?
No sir it did not use any oil. Your issue could be any number of things. Worn rings, excessive leaking out of rear main seal, hopefully none of these but this did fix the issue I was having with the obd read out. Wish you the best in resolving!
Yes over pressurizing the crankcase will causes oil usage but you will see lots of residue under the carriage behind the engine if ur using that much oil.
K Jenkins I will crawl under it and take a look. I thought that may be the issue. And since the PCV valve diaphragm is bad, it would cause overpressure right?
@@russellsullivan8947 Yes it would. Without the crankcase being able to get rid of the pressure that builds up, the next weak point would be the front and rear main seals that are rubber rings that hold the oil in the sump.
@emilydurbs ive been driving easy to avoid using the turbo. Oil level stays level when i go easy, but passing and hard acceleration makes the oil level drop.
It could be the complete assembly that the diaphram unit sits on. I eventually had to replace that as well. I would just advise in this case to have a european car mechanic take a look at it. A few days later I had ignition coils go bad too. They attach to the top of your spark plugs.
Oh I finally did!! After I had to replace the turbo!! Never a vw again...but 2013 was noteably a bad year for tiquans. I spoke with a cert vw mechanic and he said the vw 2.5 ltr non-turbo is a fine engine.
@@kjenkins8648 Yeah, I got the same car and literally 6 months later had to scrap it... I will NEVER.. EVER by a VW again! They should be sued for that piece of garbage! From now on only toyota or honda.
@@engelsgarcia2976 I was in the same spot.. but when you can get rid of it that engine is going to go out its just a matter of time.. anything with oil going to the engine is a sure sign of a big huge problem.
Awesome. Just fixed mine. Thanks
Kevin, same issue here with 2010 tiegan. Changed pvc valve but made not difference actually a little worse miss fire n epc light came on
Did you use the force to remove that?

Mine throwing a similar code but has a bit of gas into it.
Could this be caused by this right here?
I doubt there is any gas relation
Does the finger test prove anything? on the little hole?
Only that the valve diaphram is ruptured.
No siction on mine it was blowing like crazy
Was your car losing/burning oil prior to this PCV fail?
No sir it was not. Got a check engine light and noticed the whistling noise from the assembly
Mine is and I’m about to replace it today. Burning 5qt a month.
@samsinyard did you figure out what's up? Mine is burning 4 qt in about a month

Same issue guys. Did replacing this fix your problem
Mine passes ther diphram leak test but fails the dipstick test?
Then i would replace the complete assembly. A few months later I had to as well. Not expensive though. Easy to install.
You said there was a diagram something orange line in the back ? How do u check that
