    Thanks for this, I have been unable to grease two of my linkages, one on the bucket and one on the blade. I am just about to head outside and knock one of the pins out to see what’s happening. This is a total first for me as I have never owned a digger before so am having a steep learning curve. I really appreciate you taking the time to share you knowledge, I am feeling a bit more confident now after watching. Happy days Nikki

    Hi Stephen, a quick and easy way to put the bucket on is to drop the bucket link into the bucket then slide a bar through bucket link and bucket and lift the boom arm with dipper vertical and lift bucket link up to line the dipper pin up with bucket pin hole Then you can easily just push the dipper pin in while adjusting the bucket with your other hand. Once pin is in take the bar out of the bucket link and just push in the pin with bucket off the ground. Hope that makes sense? Good luck from the 🇬🇧. Great channel

    I used this exact method last week to pull the bushings out of the hard nose on a D8 we did a rebuild on. The part that sucked is that they're in a blind hole, so you can't hammer them out. And you're elbow deep to get at the back one.

    I’ve don’t that job on a 220 Komatsu… Unfortunately, it was a beast of a job because it had a custom thumb thumb assembly. After tracking down the original source for the various bits, it took *weeks* to get the custom pins and the extra bushings for the thumb assembly. And *first* time the bucket engaged the ground, the brand new hardened pin shipped at great expense… broke in three pieces. I cleaned up the old pin best I could, put it back, and it’s been in there for the last 10 years.

      I ran into a problem like that on a Variotrac that I worked on. If we stuck an other pin in the mulcher arm(silimlar to a backhoe arm) it would shear the pin in half in a bout 2 hours. Ordered the ones from the manufacture and they'd last anywhere from 1 week to years.

    Easiest way to line up a bucket.. is to use a bar thinner than the bucket pins (But still strong enough to hold the weight of the bucket)... and suspend it in the air, with the thinner bar holding the weight of the bucket , and line up the H-Link and rear pin holes, and push the pin home by hand.. then suspend the bucket on the rear pin, by bringing in the dipper in and bucket ram to get the bucket pin holes and dipper to line up and push home the main pin. Hope you understand what i mean and if you do, you can use the same method to remove the buckets too!.. Thats how us old school guys used to change buckets before the Quick release systems came out!. :)

      @fowletm1992 5 років тому +2

      They get hot but can't expand because the bore is holding them
      But when they cool they do have room to shrink
      I'm a heavydeisel mechanic and use it all the time the bigger the bush the better
      Done 1in bushings up to 3ft bearing races
      You can weld on the bronze your not trying to achieve a nice weld just the heat
      It's messy and molten bronze blows out at you
      The best method with any bush is to use oxy accetalene if you have it available
