Yeah I have heard of nektar, never expected it to be that good! Thanks for such a detailed review. In many videos they spend half of the time opening the box lol really like how you come straight at the point.

John Mike what keyboards do you recommend that are not noisey and clicky but still affordable like this nektar
John Mike hey! Will this work with Ableton? Thanks
the greatest results that i've ever had was with the Denelle Piano Lesson (i found it on google) without a doubt the most incredible plan that I have ever tried.
I have the octave up and sown light on and its preventing me from changing the transpose as well as the octave. any fix?
Is this sutable with fl studio?
I needed this review
Jus got this yesterday...dnt care about the keys being too noisy...this is a good keyboard
The main problem is that it only has 49 keys I would recommend a min of 61 and preferably 88 but it is more expensive this keyboard is prob not made for really playing songs more for like making stuff in for example garage band. ( just what I think)
@Mainak Das I would personally wait till it’s in stock then or check stored near you
@@in30seconds45 its a midi, not a digital keyboard.
@@in30seconds45 with midi keyboards you can get away even with just 25 keys.
Thanks for the review man. On my way to buy this one!
Thanks John. Great and honest review.
Thank's man. I appreciate it. I'm ordering this keyboard now. For that kind of money, I'll live with the noisy keys. Stay healthy :-)
bought it:) excited for it to come
Great video man I really appreciate you just putting the facts out there and letting us decide if it works for us I'm a first time Watcher to your channel but you got a like and a sub out of me my dude🍻🇺🇸
I payed my Roland A-49 $80. It's pretty quiet and it's a monster.
Couldnt use your link since im in EU but thank you for the review!
I bought it! Seems good.
Got the 61 key version In the car now. It's Rock solid and gets the job done.
How much is the 61 key version?
Thanks for this.
I got this one but weirdly enough, it randomly sends FULL velocity notes to my PC which makes my heart jump. I hope it's just a faulty unit!
how to switch on/off the touch function, touch key sililar to keyboard like yamaha psr or korg?
Thanks @John Mike I’ve been looking for a 49 key under $100! That’s what’s up! Also, i feel that you have to expect what comes with an se model of anything... if it wasn’t an se it definitely wouldn’t be under $100. Nevertheless I do agree with the con and I’m still considering using this link! Lol Preciate it! 💯
Akeem Simpson dope! Thanks!
I don't play the kb, but I like making ambient effects/tunes in Mixcraft. Using a midi kb would be a easier than using pc kb to change pitch and play vs penning everything. It appears the best is the Nektar. The Nektar (LX 25+) has the analog wheel for pitch I like, drum pads (I'm bad at drums), but does not have an arpeggiator? Do I need that?
Hi John, thanks for this. I got the large Nektar keyboard which doubles as a Logic interface - only to find that they admitted it doesn't actually always work as a Logic control interface! However it still beats the pants off my previous IK multimedia keyboard which had a practically useless weak cable input and came with Sampletank but despite days of attempting to load and register and use I just couldn't get to work. Looking forward to hearing how you put that wee guy to work. Cheers.
LoL, at 3:15 sounds like you're typing a paper ha ha ha great video, might get one for my kid.
Dang... itz a good choice bruh... if my se49 is broken I will come back and buy another se49 straight the way
What kind of inputs does it have? I didn’t see any MIDI ports when you turned it over. Was that a sustain jack on the left? Can it reverse polarity of the pedal?
Yup just a sustain jack...and I haven’t tried that...
Can you say how the keys feel vs the M-Audio Keystation 49 mk3 ? I have the option to get both for the same price, and I'm all about the key feel. I don't care if they are loud or not as long as they are not mushy.
Go for the MK3 much better feel!
@@Johnmike What is a better feel for you though John?!?!? Softer - more synth like - or stiffer like a real piano?
Happy new year! Good presentation, thanks. What do you recommend if I want a better keboard? BR Mickey
The keyboard feels 200% better than arturia keylab essential even
Sir, do we hav to download a different software for it's working apart from daw?
N would you recommend it for someone who is working with fl?
It works in every DAW
If you had to choose between the GX and the SE (I'm looking at 61 keys), which would you go for? I'm in the position of having to choose, currently.
Many thanks, Mike :)
can you post a link for the plant?
Thanks so much for your review. :)) Which one do you suggest for buying, nektar impact gx49 or nektar se49? Considering the keys feeling, building? I watched both of their reviews of yours. Does it worth to pay more to buy gx49?
I like the feel on the se just a little bit better...
@@Johnmike Thank you so much :)
The clicking sound is intolerable.
Ciao questa tastiera si può usare con GarageBand? Ovvero si possono riprodurre tutti i suoi Synt?
I feel like the response from the keys is slightly delayed? Any thought please ? Is it just me as a beginner being fussy 😩
Thank You ❤❤❤❤
why my audio fader doesnt works, and have latency problem in every single touch?
This is probably a super dumb beginner question, I’m just interested in doing this kind of stuff for fun. But, I’m looking to get cello sounds with this. Am I able to get a cello sound with this software? And is the software free? Thank you
Hi there, i am about to buy this one but would the sensitivity be good enough to make orchestral stuff?
Hi ....can u tell me how to set volume level on the nectar....mine is not too noisy on key strokes but not as playable as the Alexis q49 ..thanks for demo
hi john, nektar 49 or m audio mk3 49 keybed is better?
Noise aside, do you think the keyboard has a good feel to it (not spongy).?
can u compare to any synth from korg/roland/yamaha ?
If it as “good” as the crappy Korg X5D or N5 or Karma, it is good enough for me
Really useful review, John. Thanks! You almost sold me on buying it. Noisy keys is what causes the "almost". Could you recommend some other keyboard with good key feel but less noisy than this one?
Depends on your budget
@@Johnmike As cheap as possible! ;) Under 150 if possible, around 200 at most. I'm thinking abount Roland A-49 but don't know if there's something better and/or cheaper with a good keybed.
@@WaRBoK I'm taking Oxygen 49.
John Mike I am having trouble assigning the fader on the left to a CC#. I even tried assigning the fader to the mod wheel setting and it didn't do anything. In the Manual it says that the fader can be assigned to a CC#, but I just haven't had any luck getting it to work.
Hello, what does CC# mean
Love Ur channel..This keyboard is exactly what I want full size keys (I think) relatively minimalistic appearance , enough keys just to practice, but grrrr noisy keys...
What would you recommend full size keys, 49 keys or higher but quiet keys...Quiet keys going to be main issue tiv regards
What is the difference between the SE49 and GX49?
Looking to purchase my first keyboard that doesn’t completely kill my pockets! Just something to have around to mess with for fun, would you recommend this?
Sure it would be great for that
i just want to try out piano but dont know if i fully want to go for it so i wanna get a cheap keyboard to see if i like it should i get this one for that?
@@roomba. as far as i know, this is a MIDI (master) controller keyboard, so it´s no keyboard as you would know, with integrated sounds. You´ll need a DAW with sounds to play music.
Greetings
Is it compatible with pro tools on Mac OS 13.5?
Hey man. I'm a Cubase user and was looking at the Nektar T4. Is there anything else/better you'd recommend for cubase under $300??
I believe the Samson Graphite works for cubase as does the native instruments Komplete Kontrol
I just wanted a cheap midi keyboard for learning keys on (aswell as recording pads/synthy stuff for metal (which I typically just program)). Would you say this is decent enough to learn on?
Yup
This model has the option to split?
How does it compare to the m-audio mk3?
Hey, John! Thank you again for this amazing video! I'm looking for a cheap 49-61 keys midi controller and also watched your review for Samson Carbon. Now I'm in between these two.
Nektar SE49 (new) = US$ 150
Samson Carbon 61 (used, but as new) = US$ 140
Edit - There is also a M-Audio Keystation Mk3 49 (new) = US$ 160
(I'm in Brazil and the prices here are a bit higher)
Which one would you pick?
Álisson Lima from this list...the keystation...
John Mike thank you very much!
hey bro Can we connet to org2020 mobile phone?
So 1 year review? is the midi quality good enough? does it falling apart yet?
I have nektar impact lx61. I like this.
Bought the keyboard…love it…aside from my smaller Native Instruments keyboard, this is my main in studio controller…
Is it still working?
I heard Nektar products stops working after 1 or 2 years
which midi keyboard would you suggest for a person who just need something at home just to practice songs for church, not nothing for controlling daw, just practice
Paris Hearn depends on how many keys you need...but if 49 will do...then his is a good buy
a cheap casio privia or something along that line, if you need weighted keys. Just my 2 cents.
Should i invest in the lx impact 49 or just get this, i tried the impact and i really loved how the keys felt, does this one feel the same? I don’t care that much about faders and pads either. So in in term of keys, are they the same?
Yes they are pretty much the same in terms of the keys
John Mike what about the difference between tthe se and the gx
Mango Nectar they are different keybeds...I actually prefer the SE over the GX
John Mike alright thank you so much brother.
70 usd + 70 usd shipping lol
i live in philippines, this is a steal but the shipping is expensive as hell
i'm in search for a keyboard that is not too big (desktop size) but i'm worried that 49keys might be too "short" if i wanna play some "real" piano stuff on it , i'm sure it's would be amazing for my music production overall but since i wanna learn piano as well ...
would you recommend it ?
That’s the trade off...which is why I have one controller for my desk and and a full sized weighted keyboard for piano stuff
@@Johnmike thx for the fast answer
I guess I'll go with a 61
Buying a new desk and a 61 won't be the worst
🙏
I have a question. Does it like HAVE to be connected to a computer or can I just play it individually?
Has to be connected to a computer
are the keys better than the Midiplus AK490? the feeling.
The Midiplus AK490 also comes with velocity?
Yup much better
Is there any way to change the sound to make it sound more grand piano'ey
For finger practice and hand independence is it good ;?
It’s ok for that...honestly I prefer practicing on something weighted for learning....but it’s got a decent feel...
I cannot recommend this keyboard enough for a beginner. It's brilliant. If you work hard you might outgrow it after a year. But do it.
if not secret what libraries or plugins you used of rhodes and other sounds? probably kontakt or loungelizard :)
Actually believe it or not I use the stock logic EP and Rhodes more often than not
what keyboard would you choose? nektar se49 or alesis v49?
Probably the nektar...because of the feel
Can this be use for vocal talkbox
Hey great video! New sub! I want to start playing keys at my desk. Do you think this would be a good product to start?
Yup!
thanks!
SE61 review coming soon, hopefully?
Funciona celular Android ,Amigo?
For somoene who wants to fool around and learn a bit of piano would you recommend this one or the korg microkey 49? Thanks mate!
This one because of full sized keys
piano gatekeepers have said, and i quote: "...if you’re serious, I repeat, if you’re serious then, don’t buy it. Rob a bank, extort a homeless dude, steal from your sister’s piggybank. I don’t care how you get the money. Just get yourself a real keyboard."
i probably wouldn't though
from here www.quora.com/Is-a-49-key-digital-piano-good-for-someone-who-wants-to-learn-piano
How it is the velocity of this SE49 ? Do you need to press hard for make it sound or it sounds even if I plays soft on the keys?
No you don’t have to
@@Johnmike thank you, thank you very much!! :)
Is it touch sensitive?
I have the octave up and sown light on and its preventing me from changing the transpose as well as the octave. any fix?
I'm having the same problem did you figure out how to fix it?
@@Junimadedatt nah bro
Looks like I’m gonna have to buy a new one 😭🤧
@@teezbeats5342 just figured it out bro hold down both of the octave buttons and don't let go then turn the switch off and when you turn it back on problem solved 😴
@@Junimadedatt calm bro I’ll try that later today 🤣 thanks 🤘🏾
What would you choose: Acron Masterkey 49 or Nektar SE49? Or what would you recommend for under 100$ (49 keys controller)?
Thank you!
Hard choice! Both of these are good! I would probably go with the Nektar because it’s a bit cheaper and it’s newer
@@Johnmike Yeah, I thought so. Now the choice is between SE49 and Impact GX49. Any advice? ;-)
I would still go with the SE unless you need more keys
@@Johnmike Great, thanks for your time and keep up the good work!
Hi would u recommend to get the se49 or gx 61? Mainly just for orchestration and some piano playing?
Either one would work...I think I prefer the feel of the se49 over the GX61
Alright thanks! Appreciate the reply! 🔥
Would the noise go away after using it for a certain period of time?
Probably not
Do you know any midi keyboards in the $100 to $200 range that doesn't have loud keys?
M-audio Keystation or the oxygen 49
Is this the same keybed as the Impact LX series?
I dont really mind the noise, but my Impact LX25+ is good for control but the keybed is too deep for me. If i want to play piano feel, i have an NP-12 or a Donner 88 key for that. Quite hard to play fast funky bass lines with it. Oh i forgot im also obsessed with synth bass :)
Love my JD-Xi,
Like my novation launchkey 49 for looping ableton,
Sold my Oxygen because of terrible integration with Logic.
I use Ableton Live and Logic. Recently into dawless, hence the thought of a midi keyboard to control an ipad or my JD-Xi.
Pondering on the Roland A49 vs the A500-pro. Love the portability of the A49but only usb powered, so i cant control a MIDI keyboard. Do you happen to know/have these 2?
Thanks
Looking at reviewing the A49 and A-500 soon
Awesome. I dont understand how you can have a midi out without a power supply. Please explain when you review the A49.
After your review, today I just got a cheapo oxygen 49, 30 euros to throw in my van when I travel and play with my ipad. Note it has midi out unlike the newer versions so I can also use it over my jd-xi.
Can nektar gx 49 work to android phone ?
Nice
Maybe this is a dumb question, but i'm really beginner at this point. i search a keyboard that i can put on my pc for play & record directly from it. as i can see he's perfect for this but, can i change the sound ? like orgue, classical piano, maybe batterie or such things like that. I guess the software comes with the keyboard, but i want to be sure about it.
Yes you can...how you change sounds will depend on what software you will be using
@@Johnmike well, thanks man
does this work with pro tools? (im a noob) thanks!
Yes it should no problem
Can you just tell me..what about alesis Q49??? Please answer... i am in a hurry... I am gonna buy midi 😥😥
I haven’t tried that one so I can’t comment on that one sorry
Worst feel of a MIDI controller I’ve ever felt.
So you need a computer for the keyboard to make a sound?
Help!!! will this keyboard work with ableton?
it will work.
is it possible to use just with an external powe source (no computer)?
Not with this one
I have the Panorama P6. I'm looking to replace an Alesis Q49 with a bad key, that just sits in front of me on my desk for quick ideas. This looks like it might be the one for that. It's showing $99 on Amazon though 😒
We actually used this exact keyboard to build this reactive visualizer with a TV, LED strip and a Rasberry Pi 4:

M-Audio Keystation 49 MK3? Thank you i subscribed!!
I'm the same confusion, do you find and answer? Which is better?

@@Johnmike Okey, can you recommend any softwares that are free on Mac?
@Don Mater lol idiot
ACYD by no need to torrent anything...GarageBand for Mac is free...and it’s basically an entry level version of logic
@@Johnmike exactly. And for non-mac users there's stuff like tracktion t7 for free, FLstudio free infinite test version, or reaper to try out. No need to start producing beats. Just load some free amazing vst instruments and start playing.
