Thanks for the great video, it was very helpful. I wouldn't expect noise to be an issue with midi keyboards, but I was wrong. This is too loud. I was gonna go for Nektar, but you changed my mind. Plus, the Korg is smaller, so the desk will be tidy :)
Thank you for saying so. I know I will not make any money with these videos, but it is satisfying for me to know I saved someone the time or money. It makes the world a better place in a ripple effect kind of way…have a great day Lazar!
Dear sir, midi Keyboard no need to feel so much better because your not taking the recording out of a condensed mic. Perfection comes within us,the way how we use the Keyboard or any other instruments if you are using a piano grand to record via live mic, probably i will consider this, but still grand piano sound are perfectly available in keylab and many other platforms. For me i feel any midi keyboard will do in perfect range. Its depend on the owner so if your a tough guy who has hard hitting please consider a good brand,if you are a caring person for your instruments and you play using reasonably force, you can go any midi. All about money in the end. Also mindset is the most important in our life if we can set our mind and forget about the sound (as both keyboard makes sound when playing) 😊😉😉 Humble opinion
dude what he doesn't understand is that the button size of nektar is full size which is the reason its making that much of noise and that Korg has short keys which is the major reason why it making less nose if korg had same full size keys I don't think it would be that quite.
It's not as simple as bigger keys make more noise. In general it may be true but the lower end Nektar controllers are still noisier than most competitors. My digital piano's keys are very quiet but of course the action is very high end.
Hello, your video is impressive. I can't decide whether to buy a korg microkey 37 (the simple one, not the air with bluetooth) and a nektar gx49. Which one do you suggest? More than anything because of the size of the keys. Is microkey comfortable? Is it mini size like the vast majority or is it a little bit bigger? Thank you, I await your response from Uruguay.
Hi Fabian, If you have normal size hands, I think you will be happy with the microkey, even though they are mini keys. I think the nektar’s full size keys benefit is neutralized by its unpleasant action, unless the key size is THE most important thing to you. If you are going to play piano parts, get the microkey 49. 37 was not enough for me.
Hi friend! Thanks for this comparison. Have you ever used the M-Audio Keystation 49 MK3 or the Alesis Q49 MK2? Both are exactly the same keyboard and the Keystation is easier to find in my country. If you do, how do you compare with others?
If you are wanting compact size, Korg works well. Also look at the Yamaha MX49 for full size keys. If you want full size88 keys and hammer action, then look at Yamaha P115 or casio privia :)
great video thanks! how are the quieter dynamcis on the microkey? i have a midiplus akm320 and when you play soft it doesn't always trigger midi in my virtual instruments. wondering if the microkey would be better at this.
If you want to learn chords and pop music, the Korg 49 is good, but it has mini keys. If you want to learn classical, get at least 61 full size keys, such as Yamaha P121 or P125. Have fun!
Korg don't seem to publish the size of the keys on this. It looks like they are about 5/6 the width of a standard key is that right? And also much shorter. Really helpful review btw.
That's about right. each key is 3/4", or 2cm wide. Compared to a full size keyboard, on the Korg I can reach an extra key wider interval from pinkie to thumb if that's helpful
I was looking for this kind of review, but don't you think the smaller key is a bad thing for piano technique ? I am looking for a 49 midi keyboard I can carry on-board on a plane but I wish I could test many options to find the best keybed
For most people practicing chords I would say mini keys will not damage your technique. If you are really focusing on classical, them yes you should carry a full size keyboard like the nektar
Yes you can learn on either of these., unless you are trying to learn classical stuff. In that case, get a full size weighted board. They are good for chords but it is challenging to play faster melodies these boards. Between the two I would still stay with the microkey..
I also use the korg nanokey! Been using it for 4 years, still use it regularly as it is portable and much better / more enjoyable than on-screen keyboards
I am undecided between a microkey25 and microkey49. Do both of them have same key size? Your answer to this question will help me decide. Thanks in advance.
Hi Dean, the GX49 is my first keyboard and I feel pain in my wrists after 2hrs of playing ... is it normal? or are the keys very heavy, what do you know, is the weight of the keys okay? Thanks
Try keeping your wrists straight or bent down slightly. Elbows at 90 degrees. Putting the keyboard lower may help this. When you hit a chord, think of gravity pulling your hand down rather than your muscles doing it, I suffer from wrist pain too, so take care!
@@rumpelump8832 Do you find that the touch-velocity is a little problematic? Like I'll often hit it and it'll be super quiet. It feels like I have to play really fast and really hard to get it to normal volumes. I've tried all the different velocity settings but to no avail.
I have not tried the Keystation, but I have heard it is quieter than the Nektar. I would still get the microkey for its portability, and if I need hammer action then I already have a Yamaha P115.
A skilled pianist like you should own a much more dedicated play tool than this!? Wonder why you even have focus on these low budget amateur items? Thanks for your warning! 😊
If only korg makes the micro 25-30% bigger keys that would be perfect for portability and keyfeel
Thank you much, was looking for an affordable MIDI keyboard and that one looked aright. I'll look for something a little better now, very good video.
Thanks for the great video, it was very helpful. I wouldn't expect noise to be an issue with midi keyboards, but I was wrong. This is too loud. I was gonna go for Nektar, but you changed my mind. Plus, the Korg is smaller, so the desk will be tidy :)
Its taken me years, and many keyboards, to realise that the physical noise is a MAJOR problem for me... ask my wife
Thank you for saying so. I know I will not make any money with these videos, but it is satisfying for me to know I saved someone the time or money. It makes the world a better place in a ripple effect kind of way…have a great day Lazar!
Was just looking at the Korg vs Nektar and agree - noisy keyboards are very distracting! Korg it is!
Thanks! Extremely informative!
Thanks for honest review!
0:50 Was not expecting to hear this song
Hey Dean great video it is kind of noisy 👍🏾
there's newer version of Nektar it's GXP49. I wonder if there's any improvement in terms of keys quality. Thanks for the video.

nice review. i want to know about keys, which one do u prefer in ?, cz a lot of people said korg microkey more comfort to play
I prefer the microkey, it is more enjoyable and comfortable to play.
Thank you Dean!
Maybe it's because the Nektar is a MIDI keyboard to compose music, not to play actual piano pieces
Hi friend! Thanks for this comparison. Have you ever used the M-Audio Keystation 49 MK3 or the Alesis Q49 MK2? Both are exactly the same keyboard and the Keystation is easier to find in my country. If you do, how do you compare with others?
Sorry I have not used those keyboards, heard good things though!
I am here precisely because keystation 49 is too noisy and wanted to know about others
Thanks for video! I understand with this! So in your opinion you recommending what the midi controller that is similar with piano with hammer action?
If you are wanting compact size, Korg works well. Also look at the Yamaha MX49 for full size keys. If you want full size88 keys and hammer action, then look at Yamaha P115 or casio privia :)
I buy the gx49, cause it have 'transpose' button 👍
Thank you.
I'm thinking of buying the Nektar GX49. Then take it all apart, fit thin felt pads or strip under all the keys. It should fix the noisy keybed?
Might work! Let me know if it does and do a before after video of the sound, I bet that would be a popular video!
You could have kept the GX49 and made a cluck cluck sound song. You could have made much money.
great video thanks! how are the quieter dynamcis on the microkey? i have a midiplus akm320 and when you play soft it doesn't always trigger midi in my virtual instruments. wondering if the microkey would be better at this.
I have never had a problem with microkey not triggering while playing soft. Sorry for the late reply, did you end up making a keyboard decision?
Great video man! I want to start learning piano. Do you recommend me to get a 61 korg microkey or a 49? Again I'm a beginner. Thank you so much.

What I find bad about the Korg Microkey is its small keys. I have big hands and thick fingers, will I be able to touch them ?
I got the GX61 😮

Thanks - I am about to purchase my first keyboard. Apart from amking noise - can you tell is it comfortable to learn and play on small keys?

Any other favorite small digital keyboard/piano you can recommend that would be great for practicing anywhere?

The microkey25 has mini keys, and the other has full size keys. Hope it helps :)
@@dean1103 If only
Korg made a regular sized midi controller
What's the octave span distance on the microkey?
is that... from Mario?
Hi friend!. What do you think about the Nektar T4/T6 key action, against the competition?. Thanks!.
Sorry I don’t know the T4.
I want to take a piano like this, you tell me if this piano is good or not, and also tell me why not.
Thet are not pianos, they are Musical Instrument Digital Interface controllers
Hi Dean, the GX49 is my first keyboard and I feel pain in my wrists after 2hrs of playing ... is it normal? or are the keys very heavy, what do you know, is the weight of the keys okay? Thanks
the keys of the Impact GX-Series are not weighted. I got myself the GX61 and the keys are very light in comparison to other MIDI-Controllers

¿Korg microkey o M audio keystation 49?
I have not tried the Keystation, but I have heard it is quieter than the Nektar. I would still get the microkey for its portability, and if I need hammer action then I already have a Yamaha P115.
Hi can you hook a nekter keyboard to NPC software
roland a49 midi and nektar gx49, which of the two is better?
I have not trid the a49, sorry.
Whats the song you played? is it from chopin?
Good ear! Its the slow section from G minor ballad i think.
Salut ! Je peux avoir le titre de la musique ?
Hey! does the nektar have semi-weighted keys?
Yes, they are semi-weighted, which means not hammer action. Hard to do glissandos on them though. Much easier to gliss on the microkey.
Is korg microkey 49 compatible with ipad pro?
Yes, use a usb C to usb A adapter :)
the touch is really annoying
Wait a moment, were you playing mario galaxy or sth?
Good ear! It was a song from nintendo switch mario odyssey

You're too kind ;) these low budget ones are for desk space and travel. I have a Yamaha P115 for more serious stuff. Glad the vid helped you!
