This is a great video -- thanks very much. As a note, there a few minor errors on the citations: 1) You advocate that if no publication date is provided, one should "leave blank" that information in the in-text citation (1:54); in APA formatting, if no publication date is provided, the citation should include 'n.d' (signifying no date); 2) When providing a Reference page citation for a source with two authors there needs to be a comma after the first author's name [e.g. Halpern, B., & ...]; 3) In APA format, a state abbreviation is required, even for well known cities such as New York or Los Angeles [the one exception is if the publisher is a university that contains the name of the state]; 4) On the slide beginning at 5:18, the sentence period should follow, not precede, the end-of-paragraph citation [although I realize that the goal of this slide was to show how to more appropriately cite an end-of-paragraph citation]. Is it acceptable to have no referencing or citations for a part of an essay if the information is general knowledge? In my case I need advantages and disadvantages of a management style. A lot of them can be thought of on the spot. Or have I got to find a source to link to that advantage/disadvantage even though it’s something everyone would know. Thanks
Unless the ideas came from a specific source, they are yours and do not have to be cited. However, it is always good to back up your own ideas with quotes/agreement from published experts. I have doubt on Title page. I am in aerospace department, but I have to write paper on a topic of Economics. this assignment is given by our economics professor under the course offered by Humanities Department. so which department should I write in the title page ??
Usually, in the Humanities, you would use MLA format: ua-cam.com/video/Q4dTc9Fpy0Q/v-deo.html Can you ask the professor which style he/she prefers?
@@peakdavid my professor said that you have to follow APA style.
So now please tell me that which department should I write in title page ?
Should I write Aerospace dept. ( in which I am affiliated) or Humanities dept. ( from where assignment is given or where I will submit my paper) ???

2:16 Why are there no quotations in the first sentence of the second paragraph? Also what type of source is it referencing?
Because it's a paraphrase. Please see this video immediately: ua-cam.com/video/u1t0G7ZnRG8/v-deo.html

Yes, I'm very interested. Please teacher can you make a video on how to find the best sources on Google or UA-cam because I'm really struggling with that. Again thank you for your effort in making this video and all your videos. At last I understood what is in text citation and reference.
@@bluesunrise4187 Happy to help, blue. Tell me a bit more about what you mean by "best." Do you mean sources your teacher will accept? Scholarly?
@@peakdavid thank you for replying teacher. Yes I'm grade 12 in high school. Yes, like what type of sources they prefer, and how can I know if it is reliable. I really wish if you were our teacher in school.

At 3:50 ,why don't need to add up page number?
Do you mean the Welch quote? Yes, if you're using APA there should be a page or paragraph number. Good catch.
@@peakdavid no, i mean Barker and Gower one. Don't we need to add up page number in intext citation and reference citation? because it is paraphrasing someone's idea
@@linglingkong6785 Not in APA. The information from Barker and Gower was paraphrased, not quoted. In APA, a page number is required only for quotations.

Thank you for sharing this. Did you do a video on citing authors from an edited book?
Do you mean authors who contributed a chapter to a book (anthology)? Author, A. A., & Author, B. B. (Year of publication). Title of chapter or article. In A. A. Editor & B. B. Editor (Eds.), Title of book (pages of chapter). Location: Publisher.

Same here! All clear now :)
See 3:30 in this video for an explanation of the differences between general knowledge and common knowledge: ua-cam.com/video/kzcBiY2BGQA/v-deo.html
