I don't mind paying toll but I do mind is the payment method.....the toll booth itself is causing a bottleneck effect which lead to severe congestion....maybe instead of abolishing toll, they implement system similar to singapore's ERP so that cars can passed by without stopping or slowing down to pay the tolls. it can increase efficiency of economy

Fully support congestion charge system. If possible, channel the surplus money from congestion charges to make public transports better as well.

Keep the toll. Congestion on highways is getting worse, which defeats the purpose of highways.
Also, highway's etiquette is getting worse. No turn signals when changing lane. Changing lane dangerously close to other vehicles. "Bagi laluan" has no more meaning. Allowing vehicles to over-take from the left lane should be fined.

It seems to have been a frivolous election campaign announcement (they seemed to make promises left, right and center); but it is a nominal toll that helps with upkeep of the Road system - why would they abolish it and cut out an important source of revenue... eat your words and say you made a bad promise, one you won't be able to keep. And stop making ridiculous promises in the future.

Honestly speaking, from a Grab Driver's perspective. I'd rather have the tolls there, because they do help to take care of the highways without any form of issue. Along with that, if there is any debris on the road, it'll be cleared asap by them as long as someone raises a complaint about it. I'd rather see the money being spent on some other projects which would benefit us altogether especially for the future generations.

Duh? Abolishing tolls=increasing private vehicle ownership would lead to an “unsustainable spiral”.??? People don't want to use public transport bcoz we malaysians are "malas naik public transport (especially buses)". It's more convenient using our own vehicles. And also, there's a lot of cars in malaysia bcoz the loan system for buying cars in malaysia are easy n cheap. Every new working young person would buy a car first, rather than other assets

I see larger scope about highway & makes me wonder.. Take PLUS for the matter, why we need to pay toll while the ongoing Sabah & Sarawak Pan Borneo is offering highway without toll??? Is it because they have lots of resources that can cover the cost & maintenance?

Taking over the toll means government having control over the highway. I would suggest building a special bus lane (bus rapid transit) on the highway for the undisrupted public bus journey. Some highways are very close to the residential area. When public buses becoming more efficient, people will eventually opt for the bus.

At least the PH govt is going the right direction by initiating all avenues required to eventually abolish toll. It’s a monumental task we all know it. Having a congestion charges can work if we give it a try. There is hope in PH govt as compared with the last BN govt which aim to increase toll and do nothing to lessen the burden of the rakyat.

  • @Abraham-uk4xy

After the highway has been paid for why need tolls. To maintain the highways charge commercial vehicles more- like buses, coaches, HAIB trucks, timber trucks, tankers carrying palm oil or petrol, cabs pulling trailers with empty and laden containers. Charge them more for the road tax. With the extra income use for road maintenance.

  • @foxley95
    @foxley95 5 років тому +1

the nation wants road but doesn’t want to pay toll, then who’s the one paying for that expensive terrain works, asphalt and workers wage? from the nation’s coffers? then wouldn’t that just increase our expenditure? hard to govern a country with selfish citizens that always want to receive and not giving. thats why PH are failing because they listened too much and not thinking the consenquences first.

  • @BKLau70

Charges are charges. Just because the point of their existence is not the same and their cost lower does not change that fact. These types of fees impact working people, not the rich, and certainly not the people that work in Putrajaya and "represent" people in the Parliament. Scrapping tolls only to implement a congestion tax is stupidity of another level. Although, I've come to expect that from this sodding government. It is also absurd that the nationalisation of industries and utilities which are INTEGRAL to the development of this country necessitates compensation. These private companies have absolutely NO right to control resources such as water and electricity. Neither does the state have any right in allowing such companies to control them. This administration is a disgrace, and their policies absolutely nonsensical.

I disagree with toll demolition because highway quality will be significantly reduced because the government will be the one that handles maintenance cost after the demolition, and the government is so selfish to maintain their federal roads quality. Look at some federal roads, especially the old highway. SO TERRIBLE LIKE DURING WAR ERA! I think it's better this way.

Govt shouldn't buy back toll roads but instead should use the proposed "buy back budgets" to build alternative roads to (1) stimulate economic growth, (2) ease congestions & (3) lower costs of transportation.
Why throw "good" monies after "bad" monies to increase the "cronies" pockets & not the rakyat pockets? Think for the rakyat !!

Ok with paying reduced toll but never selling to private companies. The tax payers will lose a lot when private companies decide on our fate. Improve public transportation to reduce traffic which will reduce our financial burden.

No such thing as free lunch. Someones has to pay. Abolish highway tolls but increase fuels price. In this way for those who used it pays for it and subsequently reducing traffic congestion at all highways. At the same time reduces redtapes in others department managing taxes. Abolish roadtax too. Calculate all other taxes into one for the most efficient way as to not burden the rakyat. Those who used more pays more. Just increase the price of fuels to benefit the rakyat. That's my two sen opinion. Best regards.
