I would have never expected that much work to have been involved. A lot of people take handmade wooden objects for granted, I myself, was one of those people, until I became an adult and started decorating my house, I finally realized the beauty in natural wood (not painted over to cover the grain) and I try to buy solid wood furniture, decorations, etc. whenever possible. It's more expensive, but the beauty (not to mention the quality) is incredible!
Nice job showing the layout. Amazed that by the calibration picture of your ruler that this piece is only about 16 cm long. The video makes it look much larger. Great Job!!

Only someone who has made open twists knows how many hours you spent sanding this thing. I have an old Legacy Mill that will do twists with a router, including open twists, and have spent lots of times sanding those bines, including using long pieces of sandpaper like you did. The mill will not do twists on a curved surface, however, like for your vase. That requires hand work. Great job!

I really like this piece, what calculation did you use to determine the size of your cuts?
diameter by 3.14 to find the perimeter and divide by the number of spirals
