I'm 20+ years your senior and am doing roughly the same thing with my wife of 30 years, leaving the concrete jungle behind us. You are never too young or too old. Love watching you guys/gals do your thing! Keep it up. Look forward to seeing how it all turns out.
I hope you discover how different rural living is. I grew up on a farm in Eastern Ontario Canada. I really encourage you both to enjoy the learning curve and to not be afraid of how messy it can be. Even more so off grid.
I never would've thought I would enjoy 10 minutes of watching someone put in a gate, but I did. Enjoy your vids. Great looking family there too. Kids look healthy and happy.
Oh man...how gorgeous ....looks like heaven! So very happy for you guys! Years ago...I dated a guy that loved to go to Wyoming and Montana...each year, we made a two week trip...I fell in love with the Grand Tetons...Mountains are my spiritual place...but he wasn't the one...and I now love the right man in my life...but he has no desire to live in the cold...so I get to enjoy the mountain view and sigh...you guys are young and have such a beautiful family! Love following your journey!
Yes the mountains there are so beautiful, every time I see them I just say to myself is how lucky you were to find such a great location to build your dream home....
I always thought that where I dwell (UK Wales) was Gods country but now I think we run a very close second to that wonderful creation you call home. Take care and love each other ❤️
When we were young, we did all that. We felt good, no aches or pains. We worked too hard, lifted too much. I broke my neck. Now I am 73 and pain is never far from me. Blessings to you.
I am a bit older than both of you two. I was actually raised by my Grandparents, who homestead back in the day. I love watching I miss fresh garden, trees, farming, all this stuff. I keep threatening to homestead, but getting too old to do by myself. Use to scare all the boys with my use of heavy tools, like the chainsaw and pick axe. Now I scare the old men with my power tools. You think men had never seen a woman use a ryobi power saw before. I built a deck for my travel trailer. I really miss the gardening.
Beautiful 20 acre property. A gate is well worth the effort. Jim & I live off the road and into the woods, but the main farm is situated on a secondary highway. Our calving season has begun. So far two sets of twin Herefords and two single births. Our herd is breeding stock. We put the babies out this week and folks can stop by the roadside to view them. But there are some people who disregard that we are a private farm, not open to the public. In addition, we are sheltering in place and only have a few hay and wood customers. One woman drove right into the barn yard and tried to enter the dairy barn. So this week I ordered a sign made that says: PRIVATE FARM-CUSTOMERS ONLY- MASKS & GLOVES REQUIRED. I purchased extra masks and gloves for those customers who are forgetting. New Hampshire is doing well so far, but the tourist season has not begun in earnist. There will be many out of state folks who have summer camps. Some will want to buy firewood from us. None of us on our family farm are under 70.....so, like your gate, we have to set the rules.
I can't believe it took me this long to discover you "guys" (2 months now) I have been depriving myself of so much enjoyment! But I finally found you and that's what matters!🥰
I have been watching you for a short time, and I like your site much better than the rest because at least you show you used help. The rest pretend that they did everything themselves. Yours is more believable. You have proven that you can make a change, a positive change if that is what you really want.
That view is just breathtaking!! So I’m thinking you two should pick one of those peaks to climb and take a picture back at your property. That would be fun!
Good work. Nice to see all the kids running around and helping you, it reminded me of when my wife and I started out. I would have put a bigger diameter and longer post, deeper in the ground on the hinge end of the gate. When it rains and the ground gets soaked you might find that the weight of the gate will pull the post over, if it does you will be forever adjusting the position of the catch on the other post. Also if anyone wants to get in, they can easily cut the wood post you used. May be strengthen what you have done by concreting re-bar and river stones around the wood posts.
This is the beginning, making the driveway and securing the access to your land. Such breathe taking views every day. I would be having lots of coffee with God. He is the one true artist. Congratulations on this new adventure in life. So glad to have found you as your journey began the day you hung up your uniform. 💙🙏🇺🇸🌹
Alright! Now your talking. A first construction video on your new homestead. Like I said, this will get you viewers and subscribers who will eagerly await each episode to watch your progress...or even your lack of it. Construction is riveting to watch. Pun intended. LOL. Wow, did you make a fantastic property purchase or what?!!!! That is a stunning piece of real estate. And for a real estate broker of 42 years to say that, it means something! What a beautiful place. No doubt you and all your family are going to really enjoy living there. I've got a friend in Idaho whose channel I watch a lot. Now I can watch yours too and enjoy the beauty of that awesome country.
was thinking as I was watching you swing that gate that tieing into the adjacent trees with a steel cable and turnbuckle would help greatly, 6:27 was very satisfying
Today I have watched ur 5th channel for the time first, love ur great unity of family urs and lucky u all got out in time while the virus makes world crazy and have been stuck not being able to survive without survival things like u have the freedom to walk anywhere u like, grow ur food and u have animals too, while others and myself too can't. U both husband and wife had a great match, nice to share ur skills together and by ur examples, u are doing every day, ur kids watch u every day too, will themselves grow in good discipline family life and love nature too? God bless u all and stay safe too in case.
Hope you have good luck in selling your place so you can begin living the dream ! And also good to see your not letting UA-cam stop you from posting. Keep up the great post and we all will support you !!!!
Just found you today. We also moved from Washington to Idaho in order to be self sufficient!! We are in Idaho County currently. We made a misstep w our property purchase and are looking for something that better fits our needs. But we love it here!! Welcome to Idaho! :)
I can't live this way...but so happy to see that others can. Congratulations for your transition. So smart. If I had bidder funds, this is exactly what I would do. I think God is pleased.
Our property was clean with out any amenities, so we did all this here in Chile back in 2015-2016. Started from scratch. Are you all going to go with Solar or wind or hydro? Man that soil looks rocky!!! We decided to build / weld, our own gate and put it on rollers. Our 12 year old son welded the gate as a leaning project with a friend of ours who taught him the right way to weld. I think it is great that your sons are helping you and your wife! We have such soft rich black soil here that it would have taken a couple of yards of cement to keep the gate from leaning. Se we put a concrete foundation with steel and a plate to roll on so that anyone can open the gate with ease and it will not drag. Do you plan on putting in an automatic opener and alarm? I am interested in how much your well cost per a foot / or meter? We are paying $120/meter here. Love the views. I still think our views are nicer here in Chile. Hahahah. Plus we have no neighbors. Great video and thanks for the update and share. Jim in Chile.... also love the bunny videos.
Their Beautiful and Very Well-Mannered I'm glad to Still see that in the days we live in Now. GOOD Structure and Self Sufficient Never Hurt Any Of Us. 😇
I watch a Well being dug a few times before. One time it was an artisan well which was awesome, unlimited water coming out of that well. But I will still enjoy seeing your dug - its an awesome site to see.
That view is just amazing. Y'all got an absolutely beautiful piece of property. I had forgot how amazing it looks. I would kill to get something like that. I definitely could get used to waking up to that and sitting out on the deck and grill and just relax and enjoy. Y'all need one of those remote, solar powered/battery operated gate opener like Kevin did. God bless you all and keep you safe
We came up here 14 years ago, homeschooled our kids and never regretted it. This country makes it hard to live anywhere else. My wife and I love your videos, we live on the other side of the valley from you, she likes to wave and say good morning to you all the time.
Love hill country Texas..I was blessed to spend a wonderful vac in your area several years ago..only scratched the surface but fell in love with your area
1st, that is an absolutely gorgeous view, 2nd totally love you guys, 3rd don't look so sad Melissa. You guys are embarking on an adventure of a lifetime. What UA-cam is doing to you guys is just wrong. Please stay positive and keep sharing your amazing videos. ❤❤
Welcome to the northern Idaho and God bless you guys it sure looks like you on the north side of the Kootenai River and looks like the major mountains are the cabinet Ridge Mountains it looks like you're actually are actually closer to Montana but still in the northern Idaho it kind of looks like it and welcome to northern Idaho I love your channel it's awesome and thank you for your service and law enforcement and it's going to be awesome to see you guys build everything
That was a lot of hard work for your gate! Glad that there's water close by especially putting in the gate using cement. The solar lights really dressed it up. It's definitely a deterrent for anyone trying to get up the road. No one would have any questions about a person trying to go in unless they were up to no good!! Great video content
Hey guys I was half way through your live video and paused it, when I came back it said removed? What's going on, did you get hate again for speaking out? Honestly hate what's happening to you guys, it's so unfair. Your channel is awesome, so real and honest. Sending love all the way from the UK ❤

What a beautiful, scenic, spacious place for kids to grow, learn and thrive. Idaho is the best move ever. A great place for family and critters.

Watching this in May of 2024 seeing what your family has done in four years it is amazing......

I never would've thought I would enjoy 10 minutes of watching someone put in a gate, but I did. Enjoy your vids. Great looking family there too. Kids look healthy and happy.

Your place is absolutely gorgeous! I wish we could make a similar journey, but for now we’ll live vicariously through you guys.
I love the view of the mountains as you come up your driveway. I can’t imagine ever tiring of the beautiful landscape you get to see daily.

Great job on the gate. Looks good.
Great video and nice little setup you have there.....
what a gorgeous view
You guys live in a very beautiful place!
Great looking driveway. The views are stunning!!
Thank you!
Install an "Exit Only" sign on your entrance. That will deter many drivers from using your road.
That was a lot of hard work for your gate! Glad that there's water close by especially putting in the gate using cement. The solar lights really dressed it up. It's definitely a deterrent for anyone trying to get up the road. No one would have any questions about a person trying to go in unless they were up to no good!! Great video content
That was a great video . Your views are awesome . X
What a real treat! So glad I found you and your family living the dream! Really enjoy your video's Thank-You!
Wow just beautiful land guys so happy for your family.
Beautiful. I never thought about drainage when I put gravel my driveway. Blessings.
Those children are going to be so happy that they grew up in that place..... !!!
❤️ what a beautiful family
Hey guys I was half way through your live video and paused it, when I came back it said removed? What's going on, did you get hate again for speaking out? Honestly hate what's happening to you guys, it's so unfair. Your channel is awesome, so real and honest. Sending love all the way from the UK ❤
your land is beautiful! You're blessed!
Indeed we are, thank you
Very beautiful rainbow shot you SO need that in your intro!
About to remake the intro with new shots
Beautiful country.
You have more than land than we do. We purchased a house that needs some TLC, the land (6 acres) is mostly trees (lots of Maples) and our biggest goal is rabbits (2 does and 1 buck) and prove that I can actually keep them alive. Do some cleaning of the woods and get ready for next year, oh yeah - raised garden beds (trying to get 9 built and ready for planting season.
Sounds great, best of luck to you!!
