I also have a 2013 nc700x, just replaced my tires and noticed kinks in my chain. This video was everything I needed, thank you.
My new tires are Pirelli MT60RS’s from the Ducati scrambler, I miss the dirt lol

This is my weekend job,, and your video is very clear and instructive, and mentioning the torque specs was super helpful. Thanks for posting.

I like the older Soft Choppers of Honda CX500, 550 and 750 from back in 1983. You got one right there in your Garage. Congrats on the Selection of your tires. Metzeler rocked ever since. I used to switch from Dunlop Tires which came with the brandnew Motorcycle to Good Year and then later on to Metzeler. Or from originally Continental to Firestone and then to Metzeler again. My favourite Tires of Metzeler back in the 1980's were the ME33 and ME99 Laser. I had them on my Kawasaki Z1000j, Z1300, GPZ900R, Honda CB1100F Super Bol'dOr and many other Bikes. Glad to see that Metzeler is till producing great tires. Since I switched from japanese Race Bikes to Harley Davidson (cuz I became on old man) I never had Metzeler Tires no more.
Thx for sharing this video with us

I've always had good luck with Metzler tires. Glad you enjoyed the video!

Thanks, just see why my ctx700 pulls slightly to the left... years ago guy changed my tire and left out 42311-MGS-D10
And after it was feeling weird he repaired it by putting the same spacer thats on the brake side on the sprocket side. Thanks brother!

I think I have 5 or 6 of them. All but one were inherited from my cousin who was a shop mechanic at a textile factory. I got all of his tools when he passed away a few years ago

Do you need to take the brake caliper off to do the chain or can I leave it on and just slide the wheel back on and rivet new chain

No, the caliper & bracket disengage when you pull the wheel. The bracket is held by the axle bolt, & it fits in a notch to prevent rotation.

I couldn't help noticing that you put the axle back the opposite way you took it out. It came out exhaust side and went back sprocket side. Does it matter which way, thanks.

Have they gotten any easier? My last Honda was Shaft drive, and my 2 HD were belt drive which wasn't bad to change.

Bikes always seem scarier to work on than they really are. I have an old axle from my Buell Ulysses hanging on the wall in my garage as a trophy of previous work.
