In the original release of Trepang2's demo, roughly... Two years ago? Give or take.. There was that backrooms easter egg, but was more of a level you could select, where you could just find these random Ghost guys who would throw themselves at you, if you got the lighting right, you could see their full body, which was just a basic asset. Still nice to see that they expanded on their little easter egg.
yeah its goddamn frightening interestingly the other door seems to do nothing, i stayed for 10 minutes on both and nothing happened, tho i found it interesting how Hudson dissapears if you get far enough into the level and go back (at the end of the mission Hudson sneaks up on you and knocks you out), and how no character seems to comment on the growling, not even Mason, in fact nothing changes in the campaign ifyou do the easter egg
Strangest encounter I had in RDR2 was during the ending chapter when John is showing the finished house to Abigail and Jack, during the cutscene when they’re getting off the wagon, there was a small boy in pajamas or white ragged clothes running through the brush off screen, it happened so fast I paused to get a picture but was hit with “limited camera function during cutscenes” having it pauses all I could make out was it was a small possibly poc boy in white pajamas? Obviously a npc glitch of some kind but spooky nonetheless! Loved coming across my own little mystery
I don't play Call of Duty, but the clock may be a reference to the whole concept of the "Doomsday Clock", a time concept which measures how close the nations are to potential doomsday via nuclear war. It feels possible given in the place of the 12 on the clock is a 0, which could tie into the idea that once the clock strikes midnight, it means doomsday 🤔
That Chunsoft one is a lot of fun. Exactly the type of thing that you would expect to see from them. I'm guessing it's nothing more than a fun easter egg.
I never would’ve thought that black ops 1 has an actual creepy thing to it (including the weird growling behind the door, which is very terrifying), and I have played it for a long time.
From memory, the music track in Vigilante 8 is actually one from Nightmare Creatures, a sort of beat em up horror game that was released a touch before Vigilante! Both published by Activision I think, not sure of any further link between the two games
I wonder if that "backrooms" map is just the test map. It's common for developers to build a simple, clean map to test AI and animations, and that last part (the grey wireframes and blue sky) looks more like a typical test map. Maybe whoever built it was a fan of the creepypasta, and they just decided to put a link to it in the game itself so we can have fun with it too.
i love the backrooms easter egg! i may actually check the game out just for that. you can tell it was made with a lot of love for the concept when its THAT MASSIVE. even most gmod liminal space maps will add subtle teleports. thats absolutely nuts!
The red dead glowing eyes thing is definitely a glitch. I'm a graphics engineer in games. What's happening with the lighting flash and broken hair and stuff is that the material is corrupted. The reason that hair turns white is that hair textures are usually greyscale, so that then they can be multiplied by a color to tint them to any hair color. The reason that eyes glow is similar, eyes are usually not shaded like normal objects in a scene which recieve shadows and stuff, and instead rely on a complex series of effects to achieve eyes that look good, spoofing proper internal refraction/reflection, subsurface scattering etc. As a result Eye shaders are often treated as unlit shaders by the lighting engine. However, if the material breaks and it loses its connections to colors and textures, the result would be that it would just output a solid and bright default color. Which would then be interpreted by the post processing as an extremely bright highlight and then it would add in some bloom for the glow
The Blade and Soul one reminds me of the hidden vampire woman in Soul Reaver 2. There was a scene from early in the game that was cut where Raziel sees some guards murdering a female vampire. They had voice acting and everything done for it, but cut it pretty late into development. Rather than compleatly remove the character model of the female vampire, they simply moved her off the map and suspended her in space. If you know where she is and what to do, you can see her without hacks. I wonder if Blade and Soul did something similar for whatever reason.
Those mobs were used in a quest at some point ncsoft just don't bothered to remove them, and about they being underground its like this for almost all npcs of the game the models stay loaded under the map.
8. This immediately made me think this was and still might be a planned followup to Undead Nightmare 7. This clock is almost definitely some kind of scrapped feature that was never meant to be found, or possibly even some dev being cheeky. What's odd is that it's essentially a softlock since you have to reset the game to revert to the menu. 6. Music from Nightmare Creatures, also by Activision. Likely a leftover that they forgot to remove, or even an easter egg. 5. This could be nothing more than a weird easter egg considering the devs. Also considering the devs there may be much much more to this thing. 4. This is likely just zombies left on the cutting room floor. They could be leading up to something, but I also doubt it. 3. Really cool to see another chapter in the weird 4th wall breaking side story on display here. I doubt it's true, but it's definitely unsettling, which is great for the kinds of games these are. 2. Easily the creepiest thing I've seen lately. What's more disturbing than the violent content itself is how easy it is to access considering this is just supposed to be a house simulator. 1. That's an impressively sized backrooms stage. Especially considering this is just a demo.
I'm not entirely sure but I think the Red Dead thing is some weird lighting/shading thing the engine Rockstar used for the game does. There's a few other points in the game, like this well in Tall Trees and the prison which is normally out of bounds which causes both Arthur/John to have that same zombie-like look as those characters in the cutscene, which I'm guessing was caused by the big light. Although, I think there is something where it changes depending on your honour too, so it might not be that. Explains nothing of the green eyes tho.
The backrooms Easter Egg made me really want to watch unedited footage of Oddheader just exploring and messing around with creepy games that he covers.
I'm glad you described The Backrooms using the original post on the internet and not Kane Pixel's interpretation. Some people are really protective of Kane's version and get very upset when anyone tries to do their own thing with the concept.
Ayyyy! Vigilante 8! Man that game is a childhood favorite of mine, nice to see it make an appearance. That game and it’s sequel are great and I’m surprised I’ve never heard of it’s mystery.
3:17 Ngl that Hidden Track 7 from Vigilante 8 is one hell of a sinister piece ngl if that was accompanied by a fight with a car ran by a sinister serial killer that wouldn't be out of place in the Twisted Metal Black verse then they would be nightmare-inducing af.
Wowiezowie, unused assets under the map of a video game! Man you really outdone your self this time oddheader I don’t think anyone is EVER going to solve that mystery.
Okay, but fr the Tepang 2 thing is insanely cool, and actually fulfills an idea I've had for a game concept It would be a standard game, but if you managed to "glitch" into the right area, it would suddenly transition into a completely different game entirely. And in that game, you could clip into another, and it would be this backroomsesque style of constantly changing atmosphere and art design with you constantly trying to go deeper and deeper
That creepy song on the Vigilante 8 demo is from the PS1 game nightmare creatures. There was a vigilante 8 demo disc that had multiple game demos on it. One of those was a demo of nightmare creatures
As a person who's been playing blade & soul since 2010 those zombies under the map are just story quest mobs you fight after you unlock your skill list around level 15. You go back to the village after getting your skills and it is now under attack by zombies. There is nothing else special, you can find mobs and npcs under the map in almost every field for story related events. Btw don't ever play that mmo they beat it down to hell, get on a private server until they made a classic version of that used to be great game.
That Vigilante game related music with whispering is undoubtedly from the PS1 game Nightmare Creatures - as I remember that game and its music well (and its demo).
Thanks for not breaking a controller or console this time lol. I doubt it’s cuz I asked you earlier but still love to see a new vid from you regardless.
That Teocida one is kinda sad. Its like a monster got dissected, and the "growls" we hear is it calling for help, but we can't understand it because of some kind of demonic language barrier.
for the black ops Easter egg at 2:30, wouldn't those growls just be an Easter egg relating to the Cosmic Silverback Gorilla, that's a party of the Zombies Mode. The gorilla was supposed to be launched in that rocket on that specific zombies map and campaign mission. So it would make sense its just the Cosmic Silverback "behind that door"
Okay so, it's been a while since I played Blade & Soul but those green fellas *are* in the game around other places with undead, only they aren't green-colored, they're kinda purple. If you look at the quest "The Source of the Bloody Jiangshi" on the fandom wiki (I know, it's an unpleasant place) you can see two of them milling about in the screenshot. My guess for why there are two green ones under Jadestone has something to do with an event in the main questline when Jadestone gets attacked by undead forces. They might've been planned to show up during that event but ended up not being used. The green coloring also suggests they're "plagued", which would make sense for the area but I can't be sure.
My theory about the glowing eye easter egg in RDR2 online is that maybe a dev left some sort of activation on and for some reason we don’t know how to activate it, I feel like it could be also the fact that maybe the devs were working on the prequel for undead nightmare 2 and before rockstar kicked the development bucket for red dead redemption 2 they was working on it and they were teasing it with the whole glowing eye stuff. But who knows
I really enjoy these lists. As for Japanese games with creepy things that get removed from US releases, it's just a cultural thing. Doesn't make them less creepy, but Japan in general is really into horror. Even younger kids like spooky things, which is why you end up with the RUN option in Gameboy Printer and the 4:44 am tv broadcast in uhhh Harvest Moon, I want to say? No serious gore in the games kids might play, but things that give a little scare are generally accepted. When I was teaching elementary school in Tokyo, one of the third grade classes would hold scary story competitions once a week at lunch time. Those kids were really creative. They had the spirit.
Yeah, Japan has a lot of horror media for kids. GeGeGe no Kitaro, Gakko no Kaidan, Spirited Away, Thriller Restaurant, Yokai Watch(not horror but the myths the game's Yokai are based on are often quite dark). Also Pokemon has a LOT- there's Ghost-type Pokemon, and you can visit Pokemon graveyards in Kanto(Pokemon Tower), Hoenn(Mt. Pyre), Sinnoh(Lost Tower), and Unova(Celestial Tower).
6:28 ...a friend of mine who's a developer once told me, that sometimes it's just easier to hide assets in the game as opposed to removing them outright. all in an effort to keep the game stable. I guerss the more you remove things, the more unstable the code gets? if this is the case, these were probably monsters in the game tested for possible DLC, and they just never made the show. however removing them probably made the game unstable.
Secret message from kamaitachi no yoru reminds me a lot of 2 secret endings from 428: Shibuya Scramble (specificaly "Cry for Help" and "They Walk Among Us" endings), another game from Chunsoft (who became Spike Chunsoft).
The backrooms has been an amazing Easter egg in trepang 2 for a whole now. It was even in the original demo from years ago and was accessible by beating the wave mode. Talked to the devs about lots of stuff on the project and the devs are seriously awesome. Be sure to support them!

This is one of the channels that is the best to binge watch during the week leading up to and including Halloween, along with Tats Tops Videos, That Creepy Reading, Blame It On Jorge, and a few others. Great job as always.
It's odd, after watching this video I just have the urge to watch more oddheader. 8:52 is definitely my favorite bit in this video.
Right? So strange, but it makes me want to share, like, and subscribe, hitting the notification bell so I'll always know when a new video is posted. Weird stuff.
ikr it makes me wanna buy oddheader merch and to hit that subscribe button and like
Hmm yes indeed
Seeing a channel of this size offer a platform to such small games like Teocida and Tamshii makes me so happy. I love those games!
Still nice to see that they expanded on their little easter egg.
i actually remember encountering the roar in black ops 1 near the door, i was so scared out by it.
yeah its goddamn frightening
interestingly the other door seems to do nothing, i stayed for 10 minutes on both and nothing happened, tho i found it interesting how Hudson dissapears if you get far enough into the level and go back (at the end of the mission Hudson sneaks up on you and knocks you out), and how no character seems to comment on the growling, not even Mason, in fact nothing changes in the campaign ifyou do the easter egg
I never would’ve thought that black ops 1 has an actual creepy thing to it (including the weird growling behind the door, which is very terrifying), and I have played it for a long time.
i mean its a treyarch game, theres at least one scary thing in it. except vanguard.
BO1 and 2 are probably the darkest CoDs out there, you can definitely tell why they would add that
From memory, the music track in Vigilante 8 is actually one from Nightmare Creatures, a sort of beat em up horror game that was released a touch before Vigilante! Both published by Activision I think, not sure of any further link between the two games
The full soundtrack for Nightmare Creatures is fucking elite btw
finally the third part! i've always loved these types of discoveries in videogames, great work like always 💪🏻
@Emotional Damage i'm not gonna click this video 😂
Some of the footage you piece together from games that are 20+ years old is insane
I love all the live action intro sketches lol. Keep ‘em up Odd!
I think you mean skits
@@meatyman4803 Same difference.
@@Redberd36 not really
glad vikintor's work is getting some love, tamashii and tecida are one hell of a gem
I feel strangely compelled to watch more oddheader videos...
This channel gives off such early UA-cam energy it’s amazing
honestly my favorite part is how he reads the ridiculous names of everyone who helps him
i love the backrooms easter egg! i may actually check the game out just for that. you can tell it was made with a lot of love for the concept when its THAT MASSIVE. even most gmod liminal space maps will add subtle teleports. thats absolutely nuts!
It's a very disingenuous "easter egg", it's inclusion in this video was just an ad for the game, the game exists just to house that "easter egg".
Honestly I don't blame these developers. I would feel proud if I made some kind of chilling secret in my game that would haunt people years to come.
You gave RD online more attention than Rockstar ever has
The Blade and Soul one reminds me of the hidden vampire woman in Soul Reaver 2.
8. This immediately made me think this was and still might be a planned followup to Undead Nightmare
My man, I was just bingewatching your channel yesterday hoping that you'd upload soon. Thanks a million.
11:59 Its a debug room for testing cover systems and how the enemy AI moves about and responds to the player during gunfire.
Yea the eyes are missing the alphas textures for them. It glows becuase alphas textures can be only be lit by the emissive color on the shader.
Seeing a new upload from oddheader is like getting a Christmas present, this channel is awsome lol, never fails to put a smile on my face!
“Ted Bundy’s life in the dream house” IM CRYING
Great work man I love these videogame easter egg videos respect 🙏
12:02 "Objective: Escape?" 💀💀💀
how in the world does oddhead not have a million yet? man deserves it.
11:13 I think the original backrooms picture is a super clever mirror illusion.
What why this
Trepang2's original demo had a hallway horde mode map in it too.
And demon monsters that are invisible 99% of the time.
The backrooms Easter Egg made me really want to watch unedited footage of Oddheader just exploring and messing around with creepy games that he covers.
i rly hope oddheader does a most obscure weird/creepy video games part 2 video soon
its always a good day when you start up a brand new Oddheader video and he doesn't needlessly destroy a gaming device XD keep up the great work man :3
I'm glad you described The Backrooms using the original post on the internet and not Kane Pixel's interpretation.
Some people are really protective of Kane's version and get very upset when anyone tries to do their own thing with the concept.
Man I love Vigilante 8! Perhaps the creepy track was meant for the ghost town level but got scrapped?
Ayyyy! Vigilante 8! Man that game is a childhood favorite of mine, nice to see it make an appearance. That game and it’s sequel are great and I’m surprised I’ve never heard of it’s mystery.
Not sure why, but I have the sudden urge to watch an incredible amount of Odd Header content. Huh, just an ODD feeling I guess
3:17
Ngl that Hidden Track 7 from Vigilante 8 is one hell of a sinister piece ngl if that was accompanied by a fight with a car ran by a sinister serial killer that wouldn't be out of place in the Twisted Metal Black verse then they would be nightmare-inducing af.
This channel still killin' it with every video
Your skits at the beginning keep getting sillier I love it, the way it flows into the short sponsor mention, iconic
you said 'WontonBagel670' so seriously i love it
Wowiezowie, unused assets under the map of a video game! Man you really outdone your self this time oddheader I don’t think anyone is EVER going to solve that mystery.
Okay, but fr the Tepang 2 thing is insanely cool, and actually fulfills an idea I've had for a game concept
It would be a standard game, but if you managed to "glitch" into the right area, it would suddenly transition into a completely different game entirely. And in that game, you could clip into another, and it would be this backroomsesque style of constantly changing atmosphere and art design with you constantly trying to go deeper and deeper
I just watched a video about the BO1 Clock glitch. Apparently its a default placeholder to prevent the game from crashing if you have corrupt DLC.
I just love how creepy things are in games like Blade and Soul and a house building game.
13:07 That guy really loves moving the mouse cursor over the video
Lmaooo no way you noticed that
for the black ops Easter egg at 2:30, wouldn't those growls just be an Easter egg relating to the Cosmic Silverback Gorilla, that's a party of the Zombies Mode. The gorilla was supposed to be launched in that rocket on that specific zombies map and campaign mission. So it would make sense its just the Cosmic Silverback "behind that door"
That sounds like a tiger tho
I don’t know why but I suddenly feel like watching more oddheader videos
Great video as always, I cant imagine a world I didn't find Oddheader.
it's a real good day when oddheader uploads
Every of your uploads feels like Christmas. Thank you so very much.
So out of 8 mysteries there's only one that can't immediately be explained by glitches or the devs just having a but of fun
No it's ghosts
Every single time you upload I get hyped up. Thanks so much for all the good content man, keep it up!
The backroom easteregg is a great marketing tool
I've been following the development for Trepang 2 for years now. Can't wait to play it!
Man, this guy's videos are so good i feel like binging his entire catalogue!
Teocida is such an underrated masterpiece, thank you for putting it here
I love obscure horror sh!t
You've just earned yourself a sub, my guy XD
I’ve been having a shit day, but I see Oddheader and I’m instantly happy.
I just love watching your mysterious videos because they’re awesome!!! Keep it up!!!
You're a great UA-camr. I aim to make great content like you. But you have raised the bar quite high.
The backrooms has been an amazing Easter egg in trepang 2 for a whole now. It was even in the original demo from years ago and was accessible by beating the wave mode. Talked to the devs about lots of stuff on the project and the devs are seriously awesome. Be sure to support them!
Idk why but man I really want to watch more of his videos right now.
