Hey everyone Panzer here! In this Video I will be showing you how to get the Whine back from your M111 engine by removing the silencer from the kompressor. Items needed will be posted here, average install time is 3 hrs if you have general mechanic knowledge. LIKE & SUBSCRIBE if you like what you see, more projects ahead with my E55AMG and C230k Coupe!

Upper Housing Gasket - 1110980380
Breather Hose - 0020940182
Breather Hose oil separator to valve cover - 1110182982
Supercharger gasket - 1110980880
Tools Required
Torque Wrench
1/4 drive & 3/8 drive Rachets
T20 socket
T30 Socket
E10 Female Socket
E12 Female Socket
8mm Wrench
7mm Socket
3/8 universal joint socket
10in extension & 4inch extension
Short flat head screw driver
Taper to 5/16 and a bolt to plug with red locktite
Blue Locktite (for super charger bolts)
Super Charger Torq Specs - 21nm or 14ft-lbs

Just did this after watching the video on my R170 SLK 230k. Just as easy (if not easier because of the access to the bolts) with the exact same M111 block and supercharger.

Finally found someone appreciating this engine! You mentioned a baseline tune. Where did you get the tune? how did you flash it? and which ECU do you have, Bosch or Siemens?
This is actually really noticeable. I can imagine how much more pronounced the sound would be with a pulley and an intake. Nice..

Guys, I just did this mod. It works like a charm.
You have a leak, you cant loose power from this what so ever. You basically are leaking from somewhere.
@@PANZERSGARAGE that's absolutely not the case. I checked everything twice, there's no way there's a leak, and if I was having a leak it'd go into safe mode the way it went when I actually had a leak.

@@lushikatakanbaru2508 the problem could be your bypass TB, can be stuck open which is what you could be facing. If what you state is true then all of us would have experienced the same issue, what your stating isnt due to the delete. Just isnt possible.

Quick question, does the m111 2.0 found in the w203 c200 have the same silencer? I can already hear a whine on my car after 4k revs but I don't think it's this loud.
This is only for the m111 2.3 iron block engine.
Tho, other similar kompressor engines also have a built in silencer.
Removal process for other engine types is unknown to me tho.
process is the same basically on the m45 m111.955 engine but there is a horsepower gain as well

I have an 00' Slk230, I see your air filter and its much bigger in size, maybe half as big. as my air filter. and mines routed behind passenger headlight. I'm considering buying a larger cai and routing it with an extra vent or larger vent
Thanks for sharing. Yes the SLK engine setup is completely different compared to the C coupe. More space for the SLK which gives you more possibilities.

My engine has the eaton m65 supercharger, is that the same as yours?
The motors are very different especially since mine is the American version and yours is probably a Euro(Original) variant. It could be possible yours has a silencer as well and would require you to venture in uncharted territory. Question is will you? :)

No I haven't done so my friend. For my w203 kompressor I had sold it to a friend in need of a vehicle. So that project is no longer in motion.

A pully and tune as well as some headers wake the engine up.

It sounds exactly like my video. Will Sound louder if you add a high flow air filter and OBX headers.

Hi! I have the same car, but with an M271 engine, 1.8 liters, American version. Is the procedure the same, or is it more complicated? I don't know where the silencer is located, since the SuperCharger is on the other side, compared to yours, and also it has a different structure.

Hello mate,i have a c200 w203 coupe and i wanted to ask you two questions about this silencer delete work...First one is did you set new gasket of supercharger or you keep the same one?? And second question is on what RPM's you start to hear a whine noise ??

You may reuse the metal gasket if its in good shape(no bends) just give it a decent cleaning and reuse if you can't source a new one out. RPMs can be heard at 2500 rpm range and increase in sound when it hits higher.

Do you have to reattach the hose clamp on the supercharger where you removed the supercharger cover* to get to the supercharger silencer or is that not necessary? (The little wire metal clip)
Seems like a bitch to wiggle into and reattach.
Yes, it makes It way easier and it's very easy to attach. If you can install a radiator hose it's no different must make sure you secure everything or you will have a boost leak.
The clamp is important for retaining the hose the the lower plenum pipe. With out it there it will pop off and no power. Ask me how I know👀
Okay so I removed the hose clamp. But now it seems the hose is like glued into the lower portion of the supercharger cover. How do I remove it off of there?
I suppose the hose to the plenum pipe.
AreYou sure It doesnt need that oil for the S -charger?, that's y its catching it to stop it locking up from loss of oil as far as i can tell from mine ,
No, it doesnt those rotors for the super charger dont need any oil as they don't touch. Its just blow by which this m111 is known for pulling oil.
There is a oil inside the super charger casing that is sealed in the front of the SC gear case. You can replace that oil tho
@PANZERSGARAGE Hello again after years. I am on the way to change the chain tensioner and remembered your modification with the silencer. Did all went good? Because I have taken out the Eaton and changed oil and now I look on this silencer. what happens to your compressor after years? still going good? hope you have time to answer. I will do it this weekend. What do you recommend for cranking only the engine until the oil pressure push the new tensioner in place? Greetings from Sweden. Still snow, so that's why I make my Saxon ready for the summer.
Kompressor is still good. I have owned 2 02 c230 ks with the m111 engine. Years of use with no problems. I did rebuild the SC after 140k miles on one of them. It doesn't reduce the life of your kompressor. Only miles will do that lol

Yo ! I plan on doing this to my 02 c230 kompressor and I acquired all the pieces you mentioned in the description, however I am unable to find 1110980380 anywhere. Is this crucial for the project to be complete?
No, as long as its in good condition as far as the surround isnt torn or failing. Just clean it and clean the housing area where it sits.

Did this cause air turbulence and loss of power because the air is not directing it without the muffler, I've done the same thing buy on m271 engine and the muffler is on angle
No, not for the m111 engine. No loss in power, it was designed to muffle the silencer only which is why it was added
@@PANZERSGARAGE same for the Eaton m65 SUPERCHARGER, the silencer in the SUPERCHARGER in the aluminium box. But me and the mechanics were worried it might cause air turbulence or not a direct flow but I've been driving it and it's made the whine very loud haha
@@21jsboy haha yes the super charger sings wonderfully. Makes you gas it more from every light first time hearing it. 😅 i see your concern but i wouldnt worry about it even with the widen channel created removing the silencer its very minimal and isn't noticeable to be a concern.
noticed any difference in throttle response or intake temps?
I notice a good throttle response and of course supercharger whine. Yes I had a 12% drop in intake temps with a 92 ambient

It will drop in HP, and the car will be running naturally. Did this for a month, and basically, you notice the difference from loss of TQ and HP

They are differences between years of the m111 (such as improvements but some components can swap over)

Yes no effect on fuel economy. It was imputed by engineers to keep SC sound to a minumum. Does improve flow so it does help throttle reponse

The process is completely different on the aluminum based motor.

Hey, Some good bolts on's are a Crank pulley upgrade followed with a SC pulley Upgrade & Tune. Tho finding parts for this motor is very limited atm

At the elbow hose. You just need to attach a oil catch can in between.

@@PANZERSGARAGE I got with them on the car to verify that it is real one and.. "This is the one we built for our west coast distributor at the time, he bought it new and it was quite well equipped with electric seats and everything.
Our tuning was a pulley with software and exhaust, the intake is not from us and whatever else. It has been a long time so it is not unusual other people played with it.
The wheels are still what we put on 2 piece, 8” and 9” in the back multipiece, Koni suspension and a brake upgrade." So definitely going to grab this up for $2000!

No, its not. This is for certain m111 engines.

It doesn't alter emissions just restores your SC sound at wide open throttle. It shouldn't be a issue with germany's auto laws. As no one would really know

Yes you are correct, i did some research, turns out that the pipe that goes down from the kompressor and connects to another pipe wasn't properly on with the wierd clamp and that made the power loss
let me clarify something cause obvious you all get fooled. With removing the silencer you destroy your air flow and and the lower rpms the car loosed torque and everything. Things are not that simple. I used both variants for months to check it out.
The loss is very minor, 1-2hp isnt something to worry about. What matters is the air flow for inlet(intake) and outlet headers/exhuast. What your talking about is something that has been cleared and what where doing here is strictly for the SC whine increase. Nothing more nothing less

Pretty sure it’s the same vehicle, just different year (mines is a bit older) I looked under my hood but I couldn’t locate the supercharger (maybe because I’m a newbie haha) I doubt it’s in the same spot
