Beautifully played! I just ordered a similar plucked psaltery and your instructional video on getting started was a big help. Your recommended picks are also on the way. Thank you for sharing your music and knowledge.

Beautiful playing! I love what you do with this tiny harp :) I'm a new hammered dulcimer player. Subscribing to your channel. Keep adding more videos!

Thanks! I actually just purchased a hammered dulcimer a few months ago and am trying to figure it out. It's quite a bit more versatile, but I still like my little psaltery. :)

+Elizabeth Krause there are some great teaching videos on youtube which are a big help in learning how to tune, understand, and begin playing the hammered dulcimer. I just purchased a plucked psaltery and aspire to your level of playing. Looking forward to more videos from you. You demonstrate that this isn't just a child's instrument, it can be used to create complex music!

Are you able to play larger venues with your lap Harp or do you have a different Harp? It sounds professional enough that you could use it in concert. I am learning the corded Zither and I also have a very small Harp like your playing. Thanks for the lesson.

This little psaltery is very quiet, so I would not play it for a larger venue without amplification. I have a larger hognosed psaltery you can see in some videos (the one with curved sides) that I perform with. It is tuned an octave lower than this instrument and is a louder although it is still pretty quiet. It works best for small indoor venues or with amplification.

I'm not familiar with this tune but I really like your arrangement. Are you still tuned in Cmaj? Joshua sells sheet music for this tune - not sure in what key or if I'm smart enough to figure it out on a small psaltery! LOL Thanks! PS I would love to have some MP3s of your small lap/psaltery tunes/arrangements. Very nice to listen to late in the evening.

Thanks! It's a simplified arrangement since my little 15 string psaltery is much more limited than Joshua Messick's huge dulcimer. Josh is an old friend of mine, and I kind of recorded this as a joke since this psaltery is so tiny in comparison. But it is such a lovely song. Josh actually recorded it again recently: ua-cam.com/video/6gnsuufEecA/v-deo.htmlsi=4N9ASWiQdvvvlT8i

As for tuning, my psaltery is tuned with G as the lowest note, then just up the scale but no sharps or flats. So Cmaj, but the range is G to G over two of octaves.

how is your paltry tuned? Just wonderful playing

It's tuned diatonically to the key of C over the range of two octaves from G to G (two octaves higher). In short, it is all the white notes on a keyboard from G up to two G's higher.
If you're interested, I just posted a "how to" video answering questions like this.

+Brad Davidson hopefully the channel owner will see your question, I would recommend checking on these, I believe that may be what she is using www.alaskapik.com/

Sorry for the delayed response, but Kim is correct. I'm using the plastic Alaska Piks on my index, middle, and ring fingers. I'm using the Fred Kelly Delrin Speed thumb picks for my thumbs. I tried a variety of different finger picks, and these are by far my favorite for this psaltery. I tried more typical banjo finger picks (metal and plastic), and they all squeaked terribly on the strings. I think because the instrument is so small, any pick noise is going to be significant. And the instrument is so soft without the picks that I really need something if I want to be heard.

What gauge are the Fred Kelly delrin speed picks you are using? I looked at the Fred Kelly website and these picks come in light, medium, and heavy gauge.
