If anyone's heard, Scourge will be the main villain of the new transformers movie, rise of the beasts and leader of the terrorcons. If I had to guess, he'll be more based on the cybertron version.
Damn. I got no hard feelings towards the Cybertron/RID Scourges, but the original is my personal favorite of the three. With this new movie, my Sweep commander is probably gonna take the backseat for a while. Lets just hope he does the name proud.
The other important aspect of Cybertron Scourge was that he ruled his planet in such an authoritarian way because he genuinely thought he was doing the right thing. Animatron was a chaotic mess before he came to power, and he desperately wanted to prevent that turmoil from returning at all cost. Obviously he learns this thinking was very misguided, but he wasn’t just some power hungry monster like many TF “villains”. If anyone actually represented the “peace through tyranny” motto, it’s him.
My favourite will always be Cybertron Scourge. Growing up watching that show, not only was he one of my preferred characters to watch, but he was also probably the first example of a villain changing his ways and becoming a good guy that I was ever exposed to. It definitely made an impression on me, as the "reformed villain" is now one of my most favoured character archetypes. So I have to appreciate him for that.
@@NoahDaArk I suspect that Cybertron Scourge was named after the RID Scourge, given that they are both 'Bad Convoy/Prime' in Japan, as mentioned in the video (RID Scourge is Black Convoy and Cybertron Scouge is Flame Convoy) Thus Scourge was chosen for the Cybertron character as he was the 'bad Convoy/Prime' of that series. The other Planet Leaders were also Convoy in Japanese: Optimus Prime/Galaxy Convoy, Override/Nitro Convoy, Evac/Live Convoy, and Metroplex/Megalo Convoy. I would have preferred if they had used/translated the Prime rank for all other Planet Leaders in English, instead of giving them just regular names
Love that the Rise of the Beast version borrowed from all versions. He's a minion of Unicron like in G1, his alt mode is a truck like in Robots In Disguise, was a brutal warrior like in Cybertron, and he's a millennia old creation like in Dreamwave
Ironically, Beast Ware Scourge is the most obscure, even tho he's the only one whom the name actually fits, given that locusts were one of the plagues of Egypt, and he specializes jn creating plagues and chemical walfare. He actually is a scourge.
His facial hair makes him look a bit like a Mongolian. A famous Mongolian was Genghis Khan. Genghis Khan was also known as "The Scourge of God". Genghis Khan with a cannon on his head. A Khannon.

Wow such different versions of the character "Scourge" and yet all of them have the honor of being such memorable characters! Scourge has certainly most benefited from Hasbro's name slapping as all of them are truly memorable.
It’s hard to pick a favorite version of this guy, because they’re all so different. Each one equally represents the name and wears it with great power, unlike how names like Ironhide are slapped onto Spychangers or how Prowl means pretty much every background Beastformer in existence. Scourge is three strong, memorable characters that can all exist at once, despite having the same name.
Let's face it, Scourge is a pretty epic decepticon name to have. Typically there is no second guessing a bot named Scourge. You know what they are there for, no Sideways or Swindle shenanigans.
In terms of character, sure. He will literally sell off the very thing that makes him strong to the point Megatron went suicide squad on him to get back Bruticus. His lack of greed filter puts everyone in danger, more so himself. I'm not sure he has total control of it, he seems unable to contain himself sometimes.
I've always thought BW Scourge was one step away from being something special. The figure's a bit of a mess but they had a guy who turns into a locust, named after the guy who had a swarm of identikit underlings and yet the very obvious connection between those two concepts never seems to be made. It's a shame there wasn't room for him in the cartoon.
Hasbro must have a dartboard in their offices they use when they need to assign names to characters. "This dragon needs a name." *Schwipp...Thunk!* "Okay, Scourge it is."
I prefer the Cybertron Scourge to be the perfect bearer of the name. It just suits him well. A powerful leader who is savage and brutal and that he always did have a high opinion of himself and ruled his own home world with an iron fist like the tyrannical ruler he is. That's why I place him high on the list of best Scourge characters, right behind the R.I.D one
RiD Scourge was definitely my favorite. His characterization as a consummate warrior was very entertaining. Plus, the fact that even though he had a hand cannon, he was depicted using his sword far more often.
RID Scourge actually pretty much became the base for nemesis prime and the power of the primes nemesis prime toy had features from pretty much all versions of him including RID Scourge's arm cannons
I like to think that the BW Scourge is the G1 Scourge, surviving into the Beast Era by transferring his mind into a Sweep & gaining their cloning ability. Seeing how BW Scourge is an insect, it would be a great way to combine the original Scourge & his Insecticon based Sweeps.
Man, it’s hard to pick a favorite. Even though his name has been used at random, the characters they were given to actually make sense to have that name.
I always enjoyed cybertrons scourge 's relationship with Lori as his "little sister" How times he would genuinely get scared of her when she gets upset with him.
Unlike a lot of names reused, each reuse of the name Scourge was memorable in their own way for me. RID 2001's Scourge was the first time I considered the concept of a "Dark Optimus Prime" and Cybertron's Scourge had the most memorable character arc, probably one of the few strengths of the Cybertron cartoon.
Scourge is among my favorite Decepticons! Made from my favorite Seeker's mangled remains, he returns more powerful than ever. His command of a pack of duplicating clones makes him a good replacement for the Seekers and Insecticons. I always viewed him as the Season 3's Seekers!

And if you mean the Cybertron Scourge (aka Galaxy Force Flame Convoy)...definitely don't hold your breath. Scourge's first appearance in IDW was an off-handed namedrop by Starscream in All Hail Megatron, pondering which other Decepticons might challenge Megs for leadership.
The G1 Scourge it's the one I remember the most however the design for the Robots in Disguise Scourge and the idea of Nemesis Prime to follow are some of my favorites
Thanks to the Generations lines (Studio Series and War for Cybertron) now we have both Unicron and his most famous servant trio (Galvatron, Cyclonus and Scourge). It would be nice to also have Sideways, Shokaract and the Blentrons in the Kingdom line. These last in addition to the aforementioned would make an amazing fifth faction🤩 (Autobots, Decepticons, Maximals, Predacons and Heralds of Unicron).
Being a kid from the '80s, the G1 Scourge will always be my favorite. Thundercracker my was my first Transformers, and I loved the concept of him continuing as Scourge. When Classics Thundercracker finally came out, I had to have him. Classics Scourge, I actually passed on and didn't get him. In me heart, Scourge is a space boat, not a bomber. When Titans Scourge showed up in my local Walmart, I didn't even hesitate. Purchased him and now he stands next to Classics Thundercracker. Now with Seige/Earthrise Thundercraker and Targetmaster Fracas (from the Skywarp pack), they will be displayed, again, next to the new '86 Studio Series Scourge, once he is delivered. =P
I have the Titans Return Scourge, but wow, the Studio Series one looks so much better. Also, I think that maybe the G1 Scourge and Cybertron Scourge should be combined into the same character.
That makes it clear that the scourge we will be seeing in the rise of the beast movie coming in 2022 is inspired by the scourge in robots in disguise cartoon.
My all time favorite Decepticon! I was lucky enough to find one at Target and have two more ordered from Amazon, this SS86 line is killer!! Thank you for a great video and historical review. I also remember TM2 Scourge being a awesome toy! Keep your Energon full!
In my G1 collection, there are tree different Scourge figures, the first figure is with molded "blue wings",the second is with "white wings"and a blue sticker, the tirth version is the TargetMaster is also with "White Wings" and a blue sticker.I always tought that Skywarp was turned into Scourge.....
As a kid, I saw the G1 Scourge box before the movie. His tech specs described the Sweeps as a "wolf pack of tracker-terminators" and I took this literally, imagining his minions as something like a wolf equivalent of the 'Alligaticon' from the episode City Of Steel. :)
I wonder how the Rise of the Beasts Scourge will fare. He's a hunter and a kinda sort of dark doppelgänger of Optimus Prime. He's basically a combination of the G1 and Robots in Disguise versions of the character
It's funny, I once wrote a fan fiction where Scourge pursued Rattrap in a Tom and Jerry esque setting. Don't worry about looking for it, it never went beyond my parents' computer.
Loved RiD Scourge as a kid. He was the first transformers toy I went all out to find, and I eventually got his Car Robots version. For the best since it's more show accurate and I heard the American version had issues, the least of which being a Toys 'R Us exclusive, making him harder to find.
This was an Incredible Masterpiece for Scourge in The Transformers Franchise. My Ranking of Scourge 1: Transformers Rebooted Film Series (Peter Dinklage) 2: Tranaformers Robots in Disguise (Barry Stigler) 3: Transformers Generation One (Stan Jones) 4: Transformers The Unicron Trilogy (Colin Murdock and Trevor Devall)

It's okay, Beast Wars Scourge, I still love you.
Absolutely love the RID Scourge, he looks super menacing
He and skybite are one of the standouts for that show and were one of my favorite characters for that series
If Scourge was a pirate would he be the SCOURGE of the seven seas
My all time favorite Decepticon! I was lucky enough to find one at Target and have two more ordered from Amazon, this SS86 line is killer!! Thank you for a great video and historical review. I also remember TM2 Scourge being a awesome toy! Keep your Energon full!
Yay, talking about Transformers Cybertron, first transformers series yay!!!
Transformers Cybertron is a huge gap in my knowledge but I've got to say that the Flame Convoy toy is really nice, happy to be introduced to him.
Thank Primus for that
@@Bobert2020 Yes, it wasn't all that good.
Both the Transformers Robots in Disguise Scourge and the Transformers Cybertron Scourge were some of my favourite toys as a kid
From the looks of more recent news, the RID01 version of Scourge will appear in 2022, Rise of the Beasts.
Rise of the Beasts Scourge might be the most Brutal
Loved RiD Scourge as a kid. He was the first transformers toy I went all out to find, and I eventually got his Car Robots version. For the best since it's more show accurate and I heard the American version had issues, the least of which being a Toys 'R Us exclusive, making him harder to find.
I'll be using the original Scourge as a villain in my Transformers fanfiction.
the Studio Series Scourge got me really excited when I first saw it. Then I saw somebody transform it and felt it is just a "Shell-former".
This was an Incredible Masterpiece for Scourge in The Transformers Franchise.
My Ranking of Scourge
1: Transformers Rebooted Film Series (Peter Dinklage)
2: Tranaformers Robots in Disguise (Barry Stigler)
3: Transformers Generation One (Stan Jones)
4: Transformers The Unicron Trilogy (Colin Murdock and Trevor Devall)
I thought for sure you'd mention that the Studio Series figure can indeed have him expose his head in vehicle mode!
And NOW for the first time he is going to make his debut on the big screen with:
Transformers: 🦏🦅Rise of the beast🦍🐆
Fighting optimus and hurting bumblebee in the process.
Scourge technically debuted on screen
