Can I add to this, the great thing about the Rockford speakers is they are really light, magnet on them is a high powered earth magnet so it’s nice and small for the lid to support the weight.

i have that exact system sounds great til your doing 60plus I'm gonna change to Hertz and it still doesn't doing amp is gone too
I wonder how many scratches were on that lid after he drilled all that plastic out on that blanket and then flipped the lid over and spun it around. The edges after the cut were still very raw
How was the cabling run. Is there cables at the rear of the bike from Harley. Or a complete run from the head unit/amp. Why did you remove the hinge.

I had a upper and lower fairing Rockford Fosgate speaker kit installed if I do lead speakers do I need an additional amplifier? Also could I use sound audio along with the Rockford Fosgate set up that I have?

I've watched so many of these. Having a fancy color makes this a real difficult project. Even with a black lid i would be nervous but with the expensive color options its really scary.
Are there other options for upgrading speakers , upgrade to Hertz speakers

Oh man my heart sank when you were dragging that lid around in the plastic shavings...😱 glad you didnt scratch up that limited paint job...phew...good video though! I wonder if it would be easier just to leave the lid on with only the latch removed?

Are those speakers weather resistant?
I had Pete from Soundz install the Focal 6.5" speakers and a 300W amp in my Street Glide at Sturgis a few years ago. Was NOT impressed with the quality of sound. I swapped them for Hertz 6.5" and was way happier.

Go online and look up ‘royalty free music’ there’s a large selection of stuff out there. This will prevent muting and you can still have music in ur videos

I’d like to take volume control switches from a 14+ street glide and use them as volume controls on my stereo (currently adding a batwing fairing with a Sony head unit).

I have J&M’s 700 watt amp and J&M’s 7.25 front speakers. With the Rockford Fosgate 6x9 kit installed the J&M 7.25’s blow the 6x9’s away! Does anybody make a better 6 x 9 speaker that will fit in my saddlebag lids without modifying anything?
I have the boom audio 2 on a RG Ultra. Front and back. I would like to add the saddle bag lid speakers. And disconnect the trunk speakers. Would I have to get system flashed?
no only the first time radio is used with a amp. speakers dont matter ,the reason they dont hook them up until its flashed is its so powerful itll blow them. until eq is balanced

Probably a dumb question but what about the rain? What keeps the rain from pudding up in the speaker of leaking into the saddlebag?
My ? To. I have to rockford fosgate setup and mine leaks and nobody knows how to fix it except put skin it covers on it. I would had to think I would buy a cvo and the bags leaked from the speakers

Great question. Most lids do not have a drain so they take on some water during a rain storm or washing. That being said the one thing that this setup claim is ultimate water resistance. Both with the speaker and water getting into the bag. Also remember that while you are riding the wind and the physical movement of the speaker forces the water out of the lid. Thanks for watching!

I have a 2016 RK.
I made an iPad fairing for a batwing fairing I got online.
Wiring amps/speakers is no problem. My issue is I have picked up the street glide handle bar switches for the ability to have volume controls.
How in the heck do I wire those up lol. THAT would make an awesome video..... there’s nothing out there that I can find online (adding streetglide volume controls to a road king) would be a great video to see
Tim Henry that sounds like a tough one. I believe that the volume is controlled via Can Bus by the BCM. You might need the iPad to integrate with the BCM. Get an Electrical Services Diagnostic manual and start tracing wires. That is where I would start!
Fat Head Cycles I forgot to mention I have a Sony head unit installed behind the iPad, then the Sony connects to the iPad via the song pal app, integrating them together, how do I connect the Sony to the bike?? So the volume controls work with it

I have the stage ll boom audio on my 17 street glide special, will the fosgate speakers work? Snd will Harley davidson have to flash the 300 watt amp so everything works?
Harley boom 2 saddles are 5x7 i have the boom 2 in my front fairing wish i did the J&M rokker 700 watt kit
@@sffsks11 I found out from Harley, nothing but HD audio will flash! I wanted to do the fosgate speakers and the lid cut out so I don't have to worry about paint matching. HD said it won't work with HD boom audio.
Just some more shit I wish I had known before I bought my streetglide.
J&M rokker kit is the only system out there you don't have to flash, I go to Laconia bike week every year i have personally heard the 700 watt kit in a street glide special with the bag kit it absolutely destroys boom 2 system, I,m doing the fairing and saddle bags this year, I found company that already has matched painted lids they the fit any 6x9 speaker they are color match perfect already have the lids just missing the audio components

Just lost a huge amount of storage space in that saddle bag ! Not a fan of that !
Not needed....plus if you ride a long trip and hit heavy rain....you WILL have water inside your bag.
I've never had water in my bags...
I wouldn’t trust it to keep my stuff dry in the rain....

RF speaker grills dent way too easily. Major disappointment! Nice product horrible fit and finish
Throw those junk speakers away. The only thing good with that kit is the template and the grill.
