It was an actual Rodney Dangerfield joke, Norm admired him, he even did a Rodney style arrival on the Conan O'Brien show, where he almost sprinted to Conan and his chair.
Usually the smartest guy in the room, and smart enough to know no1 likes the person who thinks they are smarter than the room. He was one hell of a guy, thank you for the tibit of info. That is very interesting, and very much a Norm way to tribute without making it about himself.
Too bad it didn't include the portion just before this video started. I have never seen this video exclude perhaps the funniest portion of this appearance yet here we are. "If this were an actual memoir it might include the fact that I'm a deeply closeted gay man!" Don't really know why this particular rendition would exclude that.
Norm was great. i agree with the Dangerfield stuff. I miss the greats! Hey Brad and Lucy.... hows the party up there? I wish i could have made it. Usually you all are in the loft, over the party. USA stands with the Truckers!
One of my faves from Norm! Here's one I haven't seen anyone react yet. Called "Norm Macdonald has fun with Leno" and it has his Cat joke in it: ua-cam.com/video/KTyTdKlh9Tk/v-deo.html Another suggestion. I'm not sure if you're familiar with Ricky Gervais and even more importantly, KARL PILKINGTON. If not, you might wanna start your journey with: "Learn English with Ricky Gervais". Imo these two together (and with Steve) are the best British comedy ever! ua-cam.com/video/Xw2bTpyHGCE/v-deo.html
love seeing the Norm and Patrice. Norm's bit on Alcoholism is fantastic. Hopefully you havent seen it before. ua-cam.com/video/TCxfIoD1MXg/v-deo.html Also, if you haven't seen it yet, Bill Burr's Final Solution is a slioghtpy lesser known great bit.

We’ll that’s modern medicine
He was channeling Dangerfield for sure for that string of jokes.. pretty cool
Norm was really funny and as I watched it I was thinking Rodney Dangerfield, just like you mentioned Brad.
Norm was the greatest a unique and special voice
Agreed, Norm and Patrice were comedic geniuses. Great reaction as always form you two
Two of my favourites 😊
There was a lot going on with that fella named Norm.
Air Date: 5th Oct 2016
Rodney's death: 5th Oct 2004

Letterman had a similar approach.
The Rodney Dangerfield joke was originally a bit by Henny Youngman, as pointed out by Andy Richter. 2:45
Norm and Patrice are the best! Great video
Not Rodney Dangerfield, but, like Andy said, Henny Youngman.
Bill Burr talking to Howie Mandel (I believe) about meshuggah drumming, references D Carey

Norm Macdonald loses his sponsors.
Norm Macdonald - A frog goes into a bank to get a loan.
Listened to his reading of his voik, it's excellent and totally bs, the best part of it.
The best Intro😂😂
As Andy chimes in “Henny Youngman ladies and gentlemen” I think this is more henny inspired than Rodney, god bless us everyone
Loved it Brad and Lucy, more norm stuff would make me so happy
