I worked at that hotel from 8/23/2012 to 12/31/2019 (the last day of operation). I do miss that hotel and the employees I worked with there. I would still be working there now if the place was still there. Sadly now ,it does not exist anymore. New owners decided to close for good and the majority of the hotel was demolished. The only part of the hotel that was not torn down was both the towers that was converted into apartments along with the rest of the property. I will always cherish the times I worked there. It was a good place and lots of good memories. ❤
I wonder why they closed it. It was a pretty nice hotel. My job interview with the railroad took place here in 2007 and some of my best friends stayed there in the early 2010s. Good memories.
@@DieselDucy yes Sir I worked worked in maintenance there ,worked on those same elevators along with the entire property. It was a nice hotel ,and I along with the other employees that worked there was devastated when they closed the doors for good. The place had a lot of potential , it's just sad that the new owners decided to go a different direction.
@@davidng2336matter of fact that’s exactly what happened! This place was converted to appartmenys and TKE did in fact mod these, and they’re quite overkill too
The layout of the impulses on the bottom floor I still remember confused me since I thought those 2 doors were one elevator and it just linked up in a bizzare way but I quickly realized these were two seperate ones
According to news source, the two hotel towers will be saved, but the hotel lobby and restaurant has been demolished. Hopefully Dieselducy can give us an update to see if this was indeed true or not.
The elevators may not get modded. This is just a normal hotel closure. Whoever takes over this place next is going to be the new owner of the elevators basically.
May reponed under new name management or something. Won't know how long it would be sitting. The worst that could happen is the building being torn down
Basically they are leaving the 2 towers and adding multiple smaller buildings so any of the conference center and lobby areas are being torn down but the towers are staying

It's a shame this place closed. Lots of elevaTOURS memories in this hotel. Hopefully it gets put to good use.
Unfortunately the building is getting demolished...
@@davidng2336 they are actually going to turn this hotel into appartments
Please don't comment that these are ThyssenKrupp. These are in fact Dover despite the labels, this hotel was built in the 80s.
tkefan29 these are ThyssenKru...Jk lol.
Exactly. And TKE would later mod them.
Yup. Dover, then modded by ThyssenKrupp
ThyssenKrupp replaced the COPs but nothing else.

Such a beautiful hotel! Why close it?!
May have not been easy to stay open financially
Elevator Dude I looked at the Reviews and they said that this Hotel was in very bad Shape
@@thesherlockhound As far as I can tell that's the case.
Why couldn't they have just fixed some stuff in the hotel instead of closing it down?

I like the typo in the thumbnail lol. It works out.
Whoops
Nice old indicator on the inside and on the lobby on the outside.
Andrew if you are responding to all these comments I really do a think it’s a shame hotel Is getting demolished as these lifts are really nice
These were definitely an iconic set of elevators in Roanoke.
