    It's always fun for me to work with Tommy Emmanuel. This instructional series was a delight to produce. We were very lucky to have access to the same camera equipment used for producing the "Center Stage" DVD and PBS special. Since that show was filmed over a three-day period, we cut these instructional videos during the day, in between shows. Tommy is not only an extraordinary composer and performer, he's a genuinely warm and humble human being. I'm honored to be his friend.

      Just wanted to say thanks for your part in creating this fantastic DVD! I never thought I would get to spend this kind of quality time with one of my musical heroes. The audio is great and the style of presentation is very engaging. Sometimes meeting our heroes isn’t what we expect - sometimes it’s better.

    I've been trying to get this song "presentable" for years. Now I see that I had been playing in the wrong tuning; I'd only been tuning the low E down a whole tone, not the A string as well. Time to get back to work!

    Mate, I've been acquainted with guitars for almost as long as you - but the only thing my playing has in common with yours is that we both use a wooden instrument that has 6 strings. You are simply astonishing. Thank you for this, and all your videos and all your music. You have really redefined what is possible with this instrument - a yardstick for everyone who aspires to play guitar.
    One question - were you born with large hands?

    any reason for the second capo? ( if it's not for easy switching between 2nd and 5th positions )

    • @ewaldred7685
      @ewaldred7685 4 роки тому +2

      He explained in the video that it's used to help the guitar told it's tuning, then the capo on 4th fret is used to put the song up a tone.

    • @mikebzmike

      Might be for strings not to ring harmonics, etc.

    • @roughcutguitars
      @roughcutguitars 4 роки тому +1

      mikebzmike A bit of insurance. You notice Tommy's ultra-sensitive to being in tune. Despite the best clamping mechanism, with tension/pull and playing, strings can stretch and move behind the capo putting them out of tune. Adding this extra clamp there pretty much eliminates that possibility.

      It just takes tons of practice. 57 years of practice and dedication in Tommy's case - I think that's how long he's been playing. It's something absurd like that.

    • @kwaktak
      @kwaktak 4 роки тому +1

      He would just say "then get to work!" Seriously though, it's called "playing" for a reason. IIRC he "plays" at least 5 hours a day though!
