    Amazing Spring colors and the red bush rocks - wow! You can spend days in this one location and never feel fulfilled as a photographer. Well done mate. Lovely work and terrific drone footage which truly captures the essence of the Australian landscape.

    Andrew, I am always amazed when I see the final image. Looking at you setting up the shot is one thing, but then you just go BLAM! and there it is, a beautiful processed image with depth and emotion from edge to edge. This video is as inspiring as all your others. Thank you. The drone shots, even though they appear to be of lower resolution, give a very good sense of the lay of the land. Love it. Cheers.

    • @Andrew_marr
      @Andrew_marr  7 років тому

      Haha, I love your response, I think it's fantastic that you react like that! I noticed the drone footage wasn't as clear as I'd like it to be. The drone's sensor struggles in low light, so it doesn't appear as sharp. I've tweaked the settings so hopefully it'll be better in the future. Cheers mate! 👍🏻

    Andrew, it's nice to know you're going into Spring/Summer as we here in NY go into Fall/Winter. Your images of warm weather will be most welcome in mid-February! Beautiful location and images as always. Nice to have the drone in order to sail over the rest of the falls. I'm assuming there are no other access points beyond your view. Thank you again!

    • @Andrew_marr
      @Andrew_marr  7 років тому +1

      Thanks Miguel, I'm afraid you might be looking forward to it more than I am. I tend to struggle with landscapes in summer here in Australia, a combination of the heat and harsh light. I think I'd much rather the winter weather. Having said that, I'll do my best to find some summer landscapes for you to keep you warm. Your right there was no access that I could find beyond that point. One of the advantages of having a drone. It did look beautiful above the waterfall!

    Good to see you continue Andrew, i just came back from Iceland where i was with this group of 11 Photographers.
    Next time i will go there alone as you did, in order to be able to think more about my images before i take them.
    You have inspired me to do so. Despite the fact that I took stunning images there, i am not really happy with the rush of a group. Although it was a fun time.
    I mentioned you to each of the photographers there, and asked them to check you out.
    As you mentioned to me before....i now have a lot of editing to do in order to post them on my instagram.
    Great image you took here in your home country, as alway's i like the saturated and vibrant look.
    I would minimize fly the drone in the rain though. Take Care....

      Thanks for that Bill, yeah I couldn't resist getting the drone out for a quick fly over the valley, it was so beautiful and I want to share that win the video. I dried the off the moment it brought it down. I must admit, I'm not really looking forward to summer here, I struggle with the heat and harsh light, it doesn't make for great landscape photography conditions. However, that's the beauty of UA-cam an it's viewers, it encourages me to get out and shoot what I can and provide the opportunity to share those experiences with you guys in the northern hemisphere sitting out winter...I think I'd much prefer to shoot where you are! :)

  • @DavidMNewbold
    @DavidMNewbold 7 років тому

    I've taken quite a few waterfall shots recently and I think I am going to start using a faster shutter speed in the future. I've been pretty guilty of trying for very long exposures for smoothing the water but I think, looking at your shot here, that I've been overdoing it. I think I've been setting up the shutter for so long that the smooth effect is turning more into just a blurred effect. I like the detail you retained at the 1/4 second speed that you used on this shot while still achieving the smoothing effect. I need to pay more attention to the distance the water in my shots moves in 1/2 second, 1 second, 2 seconds, etc. and adjust my shutter speeds accordingly. These 5+ second shots I have been taking recently are probably far too lengthy of an exposure in most cases.

    Great video, Adam, and a beautiful image despite the weather. Thank you for all your tips. One question, I think you mentioned that with the larger waterfalls in Iceland you used slower shutter speeds to blur the water. I am not quite sure why slower speeds are required for larger falls. Maybe you can explain? Many thanks and love your channel.

    • @Andrew_marr
      @Andrew_marr  7 років тому +1

      Thanks Tony, basically I explain that as it's bigger the water takes longer to fall and reach the bottom of the waterfall so I chose a slower shutter speed so the exposure takes longer. Check out the video mention - ua-cam.com/video/WKObP7uIX1k/v-deo.html

    Great video mate, a spot I have yet to shoot when I'm in WA. How long is the walk in to the falls ? Google maps isn't terribly helpful, looks like a lot of dirt roads and 4WD tracks near it ? Will have to get down there next time I'm over. :)

      Cheers mate, the walk wasn't bad, about 45 mins from the carpark, with some gorgeous views along the way! 👍

    A lovely location Andrew and excellent images. I have to ask, do you ever encounter venomous snakes on these outings? Thanks again for an entertaining video, just right as it is hissing down with rain here ATM.

      Thanks very much Trevor, glad you enjoyed these images. Yes, snakes are common around these areas, however they tend to like to keep to themselves. Things are just warming up here as we move through spring and into summer so they are out in force. I don't tend to worry about them too much (or I'd never get out), but sensible shoes and walking loudly is the best defence.

      I used the same song throughout the whole video, I get my music from Epidemic Sounds, this song was Until Now by August Wilhelmsson. Hope that helps! :)

    Sitting here, not paying too much attention to what I was doing, and I clicked on your video. Not really thinking about it, but assuming that you were still in Iceland... You can imagine the shock when the kangaroos went bouncing across the screen! When did Iceland start importing kangaroos?? Duh!
