- My buddy bought this 1938 Plymouth Sedan as is and parked on a trailer up the street from my house. Little did I know that I would have to put a lot of it back together, then on top of that I was told it sat under a carport in Kentucky since the 1980's. Wish me luck!

Special Thanks: To my subscribers that love this car and bike stuff as much as we do, and letting us show you some of the things we do around here. Rescue classic cars, dirt bikes and sometimes choppers!
Scott from Cold War motors has done the head on these to get them going . Best that you took the head of and cleaned any rubbish out as you will do damage if you don’t 🤦🏼. Any way MOPAR for life . 👍🏻🇦🇺.
This car is right up Scott's alley. Too bad it's so far from him in the states. That 37 Chevy he has is cherry. I'm enjoying the current V-8 showdown!
always glad to see the old ones come back to life.please dont cut it up.
Oh no never
Very nice old Plymouth. Really solid condition. I remember in the late 50's early 60's most of these ended up as stock cars or demo derby queens. Great save - always liked these Plymouths.
What is he asking for it $$$$
That's one of the best engines Chrysler ever made. Excellent job putting her back together and running, even if on three cylinders. Hope she's eventually restored and not rodded
Great car! That was a excellent year. I would like it black but it’s really cool!! and those old cables you can soak the whole cable in a little bit of oil and it’ll get through the outer casing let it soak for a while.
Amazing condition for it's age. I hope someone gets it that will keep it original.
YES! Original is better!
Those flatheads are easy to work on most of the time it's not stuck but the valves are always stuck. It's easy to take the head off to free up the valves and putting the thing back together is simple you can even reuse the head gasket just spray some of the copper gasket maker on the gasket and have never had a leak from them and have always got those engines running.
No loop op
At 09:27, that looks like a vacuum wiper motor. I sure hope whoever buys this great old classic will fully restore it and not butcher the thing by making it into a hot rod or resto-mod. There's enough of that junk on the road already. I really wish I had the money, and the time left, I'd love to have this car and give it a chance to be what it was when new.
Correct, vacuum wiper motor ty
@@PoorBoysGarageUSMC easy to rebuild too..

august 17th. 2023 12.51 Pm cst USA.. thank you for your service to our country.Sir. Mortske repair didn't like having to pull starters off or heads on these old flatheads for sticky valves, but he did many times. you have done a very nice job on this old Plymouth sedan.
This episode was very gratifying! Like literally turning back the clock and bringing it back from the dead!! 💯💯💯
We try to bring them back on a budget of coarse. You tube pays but not that great
Love your patience with this stuff. 👍 Nice work 👍
Ty my man, I edit out where I’m throwing wrenches across the shop🤣🤣🤣🤣 jk
Looks like an old moonshiners car! Pretty cool!
Being in Kentucky, it probably was😅
Yeah, I miss you. I miss you doing things like that bread. Good job you did real good
I reckon you might only have 2 stuck valves now Brad, sounded like it was running on 4 to me anyway. Like this one a lot, thanks for posting!
Sweet old car! Good work on getting it back alive.
Cool old school car. Glad you at least got it running for a while. Hope to see more on it but I'm sure someone will snag it up.
you of all people should remember"trust but verify."thanks for the videos love your builds!!
For an old car in the rust belt, it's in great shape
Impressive! That car is awesome. Spotted my BGPs with the feebs, lol. Crushing it.
Good job getting the old Plymouth running
Condition wise, it doesn't get much better than that for an original car from the era. That car is in great shape. The car is a project, but it is rare to find a 90 year old car that you won't have to spend a year doing rust repair on. There is a lot to work with on this one for someone who has the time and resources to do it.
It is very exciting when it turns over and starts!
Very cool video. Thanks for sharing. Fun to see the progress.
vacuum windshield wiper motor the part you pulled out of can
I love it! I'm currently building a 1931 Plymouth Sedan with a 318 for the No Name Nationals!
I’ve been following it on your channel
... Well, you are awarded, an Official 'At-a-Boy' award, for perseverance and genuine honest effort at reviving this car, to the point where it is today ... 🇺🇸 ... 🏆 ... 🇺🇸
Fantastic car. Great work.
Can't believe how good condition it is for 85 yrs old.
Be great to see it driving & bodywork cleaned up.
Thanks for the video. 👍
I may bring it back out and take the head off and see if I can un stick the valves. We will see I love to look at it every day for now👊
Thats heated screw driver is old school my father showed me that on his 70 bug when we did the carpet very cool to see it again
She is very cool ride
What a beautiful car with nice patina. I hope you can keep it as original as possible.
I hope you find a good home for it. Nice you got it running.
Good video on the car
Glad to see what you did here Brad. I hope you do a follow up video on this 38. It was my fathers first car and I loved it. Thanks for sharing.
Always loved this design, we had some soviet car back in the day in a different color, Moskvitch 400 or something, if I do not make a mistake they took the design from Opel Kadett the old model. Since my childhood I look at car bodies like this with joy. It looks so similar.
They are definitely very cool
It's cool seeing an old 30's car, you made it look real good! I gotta admit, when you first popped the hood, I thought I dunno about this one firin up! 😄But you got it man, didn't sound too bad either!
Impressive 👍, thx for saving these treasures 💪.
I’m trying. It’s getting expensive though lol
Im glad you are back. been missing your content here in Charlotte
great video thanks for sharing
Beautiful car. I have a '46 Plymouth P15 & '68 Plymouth Sport Fury. That '36 would look good next to them.👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏
Clayton Dewey, Did You see the price Brad posted ? Seems reasonable, doesn't it ?
@newtonfirefly3584 where is the price listed at?
@@claytondewey3367 If You look at the comments which Brad, the channel owner posted, he stated 5k
WOW! Great video. That was a lot of work. Your a very hard worker. Don't you have a friend to help you restore the car ? That's a lot of work to do for just one person.
Awesome always cool stuff always thanks 😎
Dam brother that thing looks super for what it was lol
What a beautiful old Plymouth! Wish I could play with it as I am retired and never had a vehicle that old but now where I live in a retirement community we can't do this type of thing! Still wishing in Florida!
Love seeing these old restoration
This is the coolest color/patina ever! Must be many of those left in this state but only one like this
That would make a great cruiser with a little work.
and this would have been a great project for Derrek at VGG to tackle and drive it all back roads from where ever USA to down to Tennessee.
That car not being in neutral reminds me of the time a customer brought a full size 80's bronco in the shop because it "wouldn't start". After checking spark and fuel and scratching my head as to why it wouldn't start, I decided to check timing by sticking my finger in the number one plug hole. Not only did I not find any compression but I didn't even feel any kind of piston stroke at all. Climbed underneath to investigate and found the number one rod shot out of the side of the block! 🤦♀️ Ask the customer if he heard any noise before the truck shut off and he said "no, I was just driving down the interstate and it just shut off!.... No warning whatsoever!!!" 🙄 Needless to say, it had to have been making a hell of a racket before it let loose! So I know it was making some noise before it blew! And had the customer just told me the truth it would have saved me a couple hours worth of Labor trying to diagnose why the truck wouldn't run! Lol! I would have been much happier if he just said "it made a loud bang and then just shut off"! 🤦♀️
Paul here. This may be a positive ground thing car. Had a 36 and it was positive ground.
Wow, that's so great that you got her running Brad. That car is in surprisingly good shape, you do some remarkable work. Great video is always 👍✌️🇺🇲
Congratulations on getting the ole girl starting. Like you said it’s going to need some love. Great Job ! ❤️💯👊👍
Yeah, that bolted floor pan in the front is original. For easy access to transmission, master cylinder etc. There is a water distribution tube behind the water pump. They always need replacing. They rust out. enjoyed your video. Love the colour and patina of this car, Hope its kept original. Kool looking car. I own a 39 Plymouth
You have an interesting car with a nice color. I applaud your good work replacing all the removed parts.
Thanks for I r your service irac veteran I'm a Vietnam veteran
Nice work! And it runs!
What a beast I love it...greetings from sth Australia 🇦🇺 👍
The thing in the coffee can was a vacuum wiper motor
Looking forward to seeing you get her up and driving
I fabricated a set of split headers, and installed an Offenhouser 2 carb intake. I also had a cam ground for it.
Pretty sweet old rig yep very common to have stuck valves when theyve been sitting a while sounds like a good motor though
Sounded pretty good on three cylinders
Nice save on this old MOPAR.
Cool looking car
Nice old car //////
Interior looks good.
Wish I had the funds to take that off your hands Brad. It's a neat old Plymouth.
It needs a good home. It still has a lot to give…thanks man
Make a special 90° bracket that will fit down the sparkplug hole and mabie tap those stuck valves loose
Saw a '38 Pontiac on another video the other. Oddly, the radiator cover is very similar.
Very cool thanks was fun 😊
we worked on one of these in auto college back in the 70's here in England.
Well, you did your best on getting her run a little .
And it cleaned up.OK .
The part that you didn't know what it was in the beginning is a vacuum windshield wiper motor
Beautiful car. Wish I had a place to work on it. Would make a great car to run errands and such around town. Maybe take some short trips with once complete sorted out.
Great job brother!,
Sharp looking car , great body lines would like to see it with some Torque Thrust wheels and wide tires a modern V-8 with a 5 speed .
Now that would be cool. 440 in it
You have stuck exhaust valves so locate the location via the spark plg holes and get some of that spray you use directed at the valves, you can also try a teaspoon of petrol down the spark plug hole and put your butane torch to it make sure that there is NO petrol in the carb this is just a way of putting a bit of heat to the carbon etc which will burn it off the facesas aprecaution have your remote starter handy if the fire starts to go awry just grank it and it will blow the flame out. Best of luck ! Chris
its hard to no where to start i have a 1960 morris minor 1098 cc was just in need of t l c that was 2 1/2 years ago
new clutch , new all around breaks linings re con back diff electronic dizzy new dash new electrics new head gassket new plugs i when first started ripped it all apart NOW ON NEXT PROJECT WILL DO IT MORE SLOWLY MAN SHE LOOKS GOOD DONT CHOP HER OR CUSTOMIZE HER SHE WILL BE GREAT AS SHE IS
9:28 That looks kind of like a vacuum windshield wiper motor, but I couldn't get a good look at it.
The Plymouth of that era have tapered axle shaft and you will need a puller to remove.
Thanks for another , Brother !!
Good solid car for someone with more money than sense. ;-) Good job of assembling everything you could and should be fairly easy to install a modern engine and automatic just to make a cool weekend driver. 9:28, looks like a windshield wiper motor.
Yep I come across this stuff all the time. People taking these cars apart and then life happens…. It’s ok though, that’s why I’m here I guess. Yep wiper motor
I love what you're doing. I lived in the junkyards back when I was younger. I found a rare one I bought for $375 a 1942 Chevy Fleetline. Had a Tijuana Tuck & Roll interior and a complete rotation of the steering wheel 1 1/2 turns before it changed direction. LOL I think I eventually treaded it for a motorcycle.@@PoorBoysGarageUSMC
@@pclayton5063 I love tuck and roll
the 1st thing you pulled outof the coffee can is winshield wiper motor.
I had a 36 Dodge in 1967. Bought it for $25 and it ran.
dri slide for motorcycle cables works great
These are easy engines to get running, I've done a couple.
Good job all it took was somebody who knows something about working on a car. You could check the valve clearance on the side of the engine without taking the head off. Put a Volkswagen electric click clack fuel pump on it.The work you did the price went up by 1,000 I would say.
License plate light lens 8:38 Vacuum wiper motor you had in your hand in the can 9:27
Yes u are correct
One of the first things that you showed that like a half moon is a windshield wiper motor .
Amazing job good look
I have a friend that has a '37 Plymouth in his back yard that I'd love to get running
First-time viewer very very fun and educational to watch. Keep up the good work I can't wait to watch more. I love these type of shows, and yes, I subscribed 😂👍
Well thank you 🙏
The thing you pulled out of the box and didn’t know what it was… it’s a windshield wiper motor. For the vacuum powered wipers
Great job 👍👍
I think anybody that works on cars and small engines should have a set of dental tools laying around, lol. I have a full set of antique dental tools myself that I use for working on stuff. They are just really useful.
I have dental tools for my teeth and for my cars. I like them too, very useful
A trap for young players, i hope someone restores the car, i think it is well worth it, KEEP IT 110% ORIGINAL, NO STUPID LS swap or that kind of CR💩P!! Would be Super Cool too have the old valve radio back in place HOPEFULLY it Might still work???? The old Flathead engines are Tough, lift the head off ( unlike a modern car it is EASY ) hone the bores lightly, best to take off the sump clean out the sludge, put in some 30w oil nothing fancy ( oil, they were built for just simple plain oil! )
Man my dad had a 37 plymouth two door slantback with a 327 4 speed when I was a kid it was solid surface rust but all the brightcwork and grille were dang near perfect some old man bout it and restored it back to factory with a candy brandy wine laquer paint job it looked tough solid surface rust but was beutiful with that laquer on i
its a cool color ! , ya some mmo juice should help also even pb blast , ive mixed them together and they work good , if the rings are intact theyll come around
That car is a beauty 🌹👌
The first thing you took out of the inside that you said you did not know what it is, it is a vacuum wiper motor.
Dude you're awesome I love it
One of the best engines made super tuff pull the head free the valves and soak it
