My Daddy owned a 1955 full sized simi tractor, named "Mother Truck", as it ran when other rigs didn't, being an owner/operator, it was my family's LIFE LINE !! LOVE IT !!
It's shocking how tiny the Diamond-T is compared to other photos! I love the lesser known American truck brands such as it, R. E. O, Studebaker and a few others that came and went. As always, Clay does an amazing job!
the diamond t 201 came with a dual rear axle when the stake bed was installed on it. Usually there were two wood beams with the rear axle cutout to install the bed on. Also that back area is where the two saddle hangers pinned the gas tank to the back of the bottom of the truck frame.
Evening Pete & Clay, those Diamond T's are a definite money maker in any color....I would like to have a late 40's White 2264B....I had one many years ago, it was a tandem axle dump truck...
Well. Where’s the older man that would tell Clay about different engines He’s a walking encyclopedia on trucks and I’m sure he would be of some help on this old truck
I live in New Brighton and I would LOVE to have this truck, but it'd have to get a 6bt 12 valve with a NV4500 swap and some kind of bed. I'd give it a nice deep maroon metallic paint job, powdercoat the frame, a full custom interior, and put a nice chrome stack on it with a perforated chrome heatshield. It'd also get some PAC 1218 valve springs, a Power Driven Diesel upgraded P pump, a MUCH bigger turbo, and maybe an upgraded cam. I always have great dreams, but I don't have the bankroll to back them up. Maybe later in life...
HI PETE,, AND CLAY!!! AND GUYS.. THANKS FOR EXPLAINING WHAT THE DIAMOND T STANDS FOR MAX AND I LIKE THE COLOR ALSO..MOVIE,, MEN IN BLACK,, YA!!! COOOL...ROARING 20S MUSIC!!!! CLAY REALLY KNOWS HIS JOB,,, TEACHING US HIS GREAT TRADE OF FIXING THESE TRUCKS HE'S SMART....AWSOME BODY WORK AND THE HEAD LIGHTS,, AND GRILL,, LOOK GREAT !!! LIKE THE MAGNETS WE WOULD LIKE ONE,, WHEN GOING TO THE QUARTER MILE RACE TRACK, WITH THE REST OF THE MAGNETS ON THE TRUNK SOME ON THE SIDES,, ON OUR 1978 BUICK..THANKS GUYS.......
😮 Think I've missed too many videos because the last one I watched featured a mechanic who was an old rock n roller fella with long gray hair pulled back into a ponytail.
I think you will find that was a one ton pickup someone made into a one and half ton I have seen heavy pick ups made by mack and diamond t that had single wheels in the rear and a large stepside body. but you are right they chopped the frame.
Please buy your man in the shop a pair of steel toes, he"s got to loose the sneakers. He"s going to blow his head off reinflating those split rims without a cage. Great web site, love the COE's.
So your selling at a premium a 201 that’s had the frame destroyed, a sized motor, an unknown model dual rear axle and an added PTO and no bed because you messed up at auction and paid way too much.
I really wanted to hear that old thing run, when I was a kid my neighbor had that same old truck with a dump body on it. Every time I would hear him starting it I would run over there to catch a ride in it.
That's a BITSA Diamond T truck - it isn't really worth much. That being said - I know you will price gouge some sucker desperate to own a 1941 Diamond T truck.
Gouge is a bit of a stretch. There’s this thing normal people do when buying and selling that you might be familiar with givin all your buying and selling knowledge called “negotiating”…..
@@Ironcitygarage Negotiations? Naw, you think you have gold with this miserable wreck and want to cash in on it. I do know what pristine Diamond T - Reo trucks sell for, and if they are fully restored, the only "negotiating " that will be done, is with the wife when decide to spend $50 to 70K on an 80-year-old truck! The Semi Tractor rigs with a vintage trailer or reefer are much more than that! Good luck with your "negotiations" Hope you get a satisfying price for it.

The love for old cars, old hardware, wonderful mechanics that give new life to dormant legends is wonderful.
Love that international travelall or travelette
THIS HAS GOT TO BE ONE OF MY FAVORITES!
It’s a nice one that’s for sure 🙌🙌

We here shocked at the size when it arrived. Pictures make it like huge
I agree with you, these obscure brands have a certain mystique and charm about them that make them so special.
@@jimmycricket5366 true, not to mention their uniqueness as well, it's like the obscure brands had a lot of tricks up their sleeve.
They were still building Diamond REOs in Harrisburg PA into the 1990’s.
One of the most beautiful trucks ever created, it's great to see guys like you that appreciate such fine iron. Keep up the good work 👍✌️🇺🇲
Another great video, as usual. You sure can find those old unicorns.
Clay is by far the most Pittsburghest mechanic on UA-cam, haha!

Good.job😄👍👍👏👏👏cool. Truck
Ive got 2 of those in my storage building in illinois my friend. I like the teal .

Joe comes and goes as he pleases he’s retired Idk if he even was here once while it was in the shop
I'd turn that Diamond T into a mini rig with a cummins motor huge gas tanks and smoke stacks don't know what I'd do on the back though
Fantastic .....

My bad I said this was a chassis cab truck, should have known that Iron City Gragage knew what they actually had!
I think you will find that was a one ton pickup someone made into a one and half ton I have seen heavy pick ups made by mack and diamond t that had single wheels in the rear and a large stepside body. but you are right they chopped the frame.
Someone was definitely thinking up something when they were originally doing it
What was that music playing during the unloading of the trim pieces from the cab? Sounded like 1920's jazz.
I just picked up a 1935 Diamond T with the 211 inline 6 and wooden cab.
How rare of a truck do i have?
Yummie
Yes. 1

Good work, abit sad you seem so stressed so you dont even have time to unstuck the engine.
I thought they had a flathead 8, Lycoming engine.

He refuses to wear boots, I tell him all the time. Your not blowing a split rim at 15-20psi

That truck needs to be put on a newer style frame anyway, Its not worth restoring it would cost more than its worth.Sell it as a rat rod.

this sell? been a year
Just think if this old girl could talk about being made at the start of world 2 and probably getting resurrected for another 100 years.
Honestly right it’s crazy to think that
No para de hablar, quiero ver como lo reaniman al camioncito.
These guys only get trucks rolling then sell them to other shops I haven't seen them restore any old trucks to completion # BOGUS
Where do you read restoration anywhere?
I'll give you an F for effort.
I’ll give you an F for positivity
